Chapter 1 - A Flashback 3

**Lucian's POV**

"Lucian Blackwood." A man in his 50s whispered my name. I turned and saw the devil-angel's fate book speaking, so I simply hummed in response. "Hmm." "Speak," I commanded. The ancient text replied, "I still can't find where your best friend is or where that person disappeared… You're already bound to the girl now, so stop thinking about her." My eyes burned with fury, and I wanted to tear the damned book apart. "If you were human, I would've slaughtered you by now. Stop saying I'm bound to her over and over again. I don't consider her my bride. She means nothing to me. And I hate you, you wretched ancient text, for telling me I'm bound to someone else when I've spent two thousand years day and night thinking only of my best friend. It's in name only I'll make her my bride but never give her the place beside me. She's just a speck of dust, nothing more. Her existence in this world is a curse, and I'll show her exactly what happens when someone is bound to the Devil." I was furious at that girl. Why was she even born in this world? And in my city, no less? Why couldn't she have been born somewhere else? "if she would have been born somewhere else really I swear I hadn't had to make her my bride" I punched the wall in rage, but nothing hurts an immortal and that only pissed me off more. "Now stop talking, you old relic. I swear I'll throw you into the fireplace." The ancient text giggled. "You won't… because I'm still searching for your best friend. Burn me, and you'll never know the truth." "Shut up," I growled. "Alex… Alexander!" I shouted. A man in a black suit appeared before me. "Yes, boss?" "Give me the details of the girl Lumina Rose Celeste." I could see Alex's surprise. Why wouldn't he be? He'd never seen me ask for details about a girl before. He simply nodded. "The girl from Blackwood College," I clarified coldly. "The one dancing two days ago. I want every detail about her." Not that I cared to know. Just looking at her, I could tell she was fragile pathetically fragile. "Foolish, fragile human… Your greatest mistake was being born especially in this city."

**Flashback – Two Days Ago**

I was getting ready to attend Blackwood University as the chief guest of course, it was my college. As I fastened my watch, I glanced at my reflection cold, bored. "These human programs are disgusting," I muttered.

Twenty minutes later, I arrived to find the place lavishly decorated. The head principal led me to the grand hall, where not only a program but also business dealings would take place. The college hall was massive enough to accommodate it all. Sitting in my seat, I sighed, tapping my thigh impatiently as I stared at the empty stage. Then, after the announcements, a welcome dance began. The name *'Lumina'* caught my attention. Interesting… but I hated it. *Lumina* meant *light*, and in my dark world, I allowed no light except for bulbs and tube lights. The girl stepped onto the stage, clad in a white flowy dress with ribbons along the sides. Her dark, wavy straight hair, cascaded like silk down to her hips, swaying with every movement. Glancing around, I noticed the entire audience gaping at her. *"Bastards,"* I sneered. But what stood out most was the contrast of her features raven-black hair against golden-brown skin slightly just a little pale, cherry lips, and big almond-shaped eyes with thick lashes. She looked like a fallen angel dipped in gold. I scoffed, watching her emotionlessly until suddenly, her ankle twisted. She stumbled, about to fall off the stage…

As soon as I saw her about to fall off the stage, I moved in a flash, catching her in my arms. Her eyes were shut tight, the shimmer of her eyeshadow catching the light. I wouldn't lie she was beautiful. Slowly, I helped her back onto her feet. She bowed slightly, whispering, "Thanks, sir." I gave a curt nod, and before I could even process it, she was gone. Good. She shouldn't have lingered long enough for gratitude. After the meetings and business dealings, I sat in the car, waiting for Alex. The fool had disappeared to eat. "God, I swear… I should've never let him be my driver. Bloody idiot," I growled. Alex was my most trusted man more like a brother but his carelessness infuriated me. "Hungry bird… Just wait till I show you *my* angry bird." My teeth gritted in irritation. Then, I spotted her Lumina, the girl from the dance walking out of the college in different clothes. A soft cardigan, flared jeans… She looked… sad. Why the hell do I even care? Alex finally swung the car door open. "Helloooo, bossssyyy… How are you?"

"Stop the nonsense and drive, or I'll snap your neck right here," I snarled.

"Cool babe....cool" Alex winked at me and I sighed and I can't do anything about this boy he is totally mad.

"I'll turn you into the biggest fool," I muttered under my breath.

He drives the car the whole ride was silent as I was doing my important work researching about a place which is lost while that Alex named man is listening songs "you look less a Mafia's man but more like an idiot"

Alex whispered "Boss I have seen a movie where a Mafia's left hand man was chill so no one ever thought he is a Mafia's man and he used to gather information so I am doing that only" he chuckled while laughing "And I am dangerous sir.....I also scare people beside you" he flashed his sharp white teeth giving a big smile

"What do you think about me? are you even scared of me?" I asked

"the whole world is scared of you but me nope cause you are my babeeey"

I swear to god being a devil, seriously I will do something to this man one day "I am not your....baby" I was even hesitating to say the word 'baby'

"you know my real truth right?"

"Of course Mr devil I am with you from 2000 thousands years so why not?" Alex smirked

This man is never scared of me until I show him my real face but he will vanish I can't do anything with him "Shut up... don't you dare to tell anyone anything"

"Okay okay cool cool....and you trust me right I will never tell."
