Chapter 6 - chapter Are you looking for death

The next day, in the morning!

At the New Rising Building!

Suzaku drove Chasel to the entrance of the building, following Chasel's instructions to leave first.

As Chasel stepped inside, he unexpectedly ran into a girl who hurriedly exited the elevator.

"Chasel Mills?"

The girl was taken aback upon seeing him.

This girl was none other than Nora, who had just come out of the company.

At that moment, Nora was wearing a white dress paired with a light blue trench coat and high heels, making her look tall and curvy.

Today, her hair was down, and she wore a touch of light makeup, which added to her charm.

Chasel was momentarily stunned as well.He thought to himself that the girl he once knew had truly grown up and was different from before.

"What are you doing here?"

Nora asked, her tone laced with annoyance upon seeing Chasel.

Before he could respond, she noticed the resume in his hand.

She shook her head and said, "Got it. I have things to do, so I'm leaving!"

After saying that, Nora hurriedly left.

However, her impression of Chasel had plummeted to the lowest point.

Yesterday, she had introduced him for a job, but he had stubbornly refused out of pride. Today, he sneaked in for an interview.

And what was this nonsense about joining the army? It was ridiculous!

If it weren't for Samir's reminder, they might have actually believed him yesterday.

What she witnessed now only confirmed what Samir had said: that woman named Suzaku was just an actress hired by Chasel to put on a show.

He had been in jail, had no job, no income, and was spending money to hire someone to deceive his family.

After the disappointment, Nora felt nothing but sadness.

Chasel shook his head with a bitter smile, thinking to himself, "Believe what you want."

He then stepped into the elevator.

He went straight to the eighteenth floor!

He found the company where Michelle Allen worked.

The company was called "Qingwan Creative," and it wasn't very large, with only about thirty to forty employees.

"I'm here for an interview; I have an appointment!" Chasel said with a smile to the receptionist. The receptionist checked and reported to the president's office, then sweetly smiled, "Please follow me!"

She then led Chasel to Michelle Allen's office.

In the office sat a young woman with exquisite features and an outstanding presence, dressed in a light blue business suit that made her look exceptionally capable. A few strands of hair fell gracefully by her ears, adding a unique charm to her overall appearance, giving off an effortless beauty.

When Chasel saw her, he found himself momentarily lost in thought. It wasn't that he was stunned by Michelle's beauty; rather, his emotions were stirred. This was the woman who had saved him all those years ago! The first woman he had ever experienced in his life, and currently, the only one. She was also the mother of his daughter!

However, Chasel knew that staring at a woman for too long was extremely impolite, especially when they weren't well acquainted. He quickly averted his gaze.

When Michelle Allen noticed Chasel enter, her brow furrowed slightly. Nevertheless, she stood up politely.

"Did you serve in the military?" Michelle asked, her lips parting as she fixed her intense gaze on him. This was one of the main reasons she had decided to meet Chasel.

But now, looking at him, she noticed he appeared somewhat unwell and not particularly robust, completely different from what she had imagined.

"That's right, I've served for five years!" Chasel nodded confidently.

He handed over a photo of himself in military uniform, along with a set of documents. However, these were just ordinary credentials that Suzaku had managed to get for him, not his real identity!

Michelle glanced at the photo and nodded, her tone relaxing. "Since you've been in the military for more than just a year or two, that proves your character is solid.""But it might be a bit beneath your talents. You should have researched this job beforehand. It's called a life assistant, but really, you'll be pretending to be my daughter's father. You only need to work on weekends, and the pay is three thousand a month. As long as you genuinely care for my daughter, I can offer you a raise later. What do you think?"

Michelle was quite satisfied with Chasel. She had been telling her daughter that her dad had a special job and was too busy to come home. When her daughter was younger, it worked, but now that she was in kindergarten and saw other kids with their dads, she cried and begged for her father, sobbing like a little heartbroken mess. Michelle couldn't bear it any longer and had to resort to this plan.

Chasel, having served in the military, was a perfect fit for the role, and his character was trustworthy.

"Absolutely!" Chase nodded, feeling a rush of excitement.

He couldn't help but feel thrilled at the thought of having a daughter and that he would soon get to meet her.

"May I ask, where's her father?"

Suddenly, Chasel spoke up.

Michelle, who had been wearing a gentle smile, instantly changed her expression at Chasel's question. The smile vanished, replaced by a cold demeanor.

"Part of this job is to stick to your responsibilities. Don't ask what you shouldn't, and don't meddle in what doesn't concern you. Can you manage that?" Michelle asked icily.

"Of course!" Chasel nodded again, though inside, he felt a deep bitterness. It seemed that Michelle truly despised him, to the point where even mentioning her father was off-limits.

Bitterness! Guilt!

In that moment, Chasel's emotions were a tangled mess. At least he was back before it was too late!

Just then, a commotion erupted outside the office.

"Mr. Payne, you can't go in without Miss Michelle's permission!"

The receptionist's voice came from the hallway, seemingly trying to stop someone.

Hearing this, Michelle's expression shifted. Her delicate, fair hands instinctively clenched tightly.

At that moment, the office door was pushed open.

A young man dressed in high-end designer brands walked in.

He wasn't exceptionally handsome, but with the backing of wealth, he carried an undeniable presence.

"Michelle, how dare you look for other men behind my back?"

As soon as he entered, he ignored Chasel completely, his face dark as he fixed his gaze on Michelle, his voice cold.

"Payne Cain, watch your mouth," Michelle shot back, her pretty face filled with anger.

Payne Cain was a direct descendant of the Cain family, a local wealthy clan in Verdant City, and he was a constant source of annoyance for her.

"Michelle, don't push your luck. In all of Verdant City, who doesn't know that you're the woman I've set my sights on? The only reason I haven't forced you is that I want to conquer you slowly. But if you dare to openly recruit other men, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

Payne's lips curled into a smirk, his eyes filled with possessiveness.

Was he interested in Michelle? Absolutely!

With her stunning figure, beautiful looks, and outstanding charm, she had a mature allure that was hard to resist. If he merely wanted to sleep with her, there were countless ways to do so.

However, Payne had learned that Michelle had ties to the Allen family in the provincial capital, but their relationship was currently strained, and she had severed ties with them.

He had been relentlessly pursuing Michelle, not just to win her over, but also to establish a connection with the powerful Allen family in the provincial capital. Michelle was his obsession; he couldn't allow anyone else to touch her!

"Get out of my company right now, or I'll call the police!" Michelle said coldly.

"Call the police? Ha! Go ahead, let's see if it does any good!" Payne Cain sneered.

"What do you want?" Michelle's teeth clenched, her eyes blazing with fury."Simple. I want you to submit to me! Otherwise, with just one phone call, I can bring your company to its knees. I can easily get your daughter expelled from school, leaving her without a kindergarten to attend. Do you believe me?"

"You wanted to find a father for your child, right? Well, if you submit to me, I'll reluctantly step in as her dad. Everyone wins!" Payne said with a smirk, clearly feeling like he had Michelle right where he wanted her.

He could have played the waiting game with Michelle, but now that she dared to seek out another man, he felt justified in using more aggressive tactics. Once he made his move, he was confident he could make her come back to him! "Want to be the child's father? Are you looking for death?"

Just as Payne was basking in his smugness, a chilling aura suddenly enveloped the entire office!

A voice, as if it came from the depths of the underworld, filled the air with a strong sense of menace, ringing in his ears.
