Chapter 2 - chapter 2:- Before The Storm

The dinner table was quiet, the only sound being the clinking of spoons and plates. Philip broke the silence, his voice warm and gentle.

"So, Angel, Jack will be studying in the same school as you. Isn't that great?"

Angel's face lit up with excitement. "That's awesome, Dad! Thanks for arranging that."

Jack smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Philip. "Thanks, sir. At least I'll have someone I know in school."

Philip smiled, his eyes twinkling. "Just remember, both of you, to focus on your studies. I'll talk to the principal tomorrow, and by next week, you'll be starting school."

As they finished dinner, Athena reminded them to brush their teeth before bed. Jack felt a sense of comfort and routine wash over him as he settled into his new life in Singapore.

The next morning, Jack woke up feeling refreshed. He went downstairs to find everyone already seated at the table, waiting for him. Philip greeted him warmly, and Athena served him a steaming bowl of ramen.

As they ate, Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the new foods and experiences he was having. Philip chuckled, "Ramen is like noodles, but sweeter. Especially the way Athena makes it."

After breakfast, Philip headed off to work, leaving Jack to explore the house and watch TV. As he flipped through channels, he stumbled upon a news broadcast that made his heart skip a beat.

"...zombie outbreak in the city. Citizens are advised to stay indoors until further notice."

Jack's eyes widened as he called out to Angel and Athena. They gathered around the TV, their faces pale with fear.

Suddenly, Philip knocked on the door, his left hand covered in blood. They rushed to his side, shocked to see the zombie bite on his arm.

As the reality of the situation sunk in, Philip's voice trembled. "Put me in my room and lock me. I don't have much time."

The scene that followed was chaotic, with tears and pleas to spare Philip's life. But Jack knew what he had to do. With a heavy heart, he carried Philip to his room and locked the door, the sound echoing through the silent house.

As they sat in the parlour, crying and trying to come to terms with their situation, Jack couldn't help but wonder what the future held. The zombie outbreak, Philip's fate, and their own survival – everything seemed uncertain and daunting.

But for now, all they could do was wait and hope for the best.
