Chapter 3 - Once upon a time... - 3

I mean, he's eleven years old now, and he's never met his parents, and if it weren't for the fact that there's something like photos, he wouldn't even know what his father looks like.

As for his mother, it is said that she died the day they were born, well no one told them that but they just guessed it.

Their uncles and aunts look at them with disdain as if they were something dirty, and even this grandfather who shelters them looks, although he is better than the others but still does not have the slightest shred of tenderness or kindness that he shows to his other grandchildren.

A stranger they called him big brother used to come once a month to visit them and treat them with affection, but it was months and months, maybe a year or more, until they didn't even see his shadow! They had already forgotten his name and appearance

And there are a lot of strict and meaningless restrictions that apply only to them and not to the rest of the family's children.

Maybe Cass can keep quiet or even ignore it altogether, or maybe Cass is content with the misfortunes he's causing and doesn't want to add more fuel to the fire, just don't leave his brother alone and take the punishment with him.

Cel looked at the screen with a grimace after losing the game and then spoke like a criminal justifying his crime

- It's not stealing, it's our money anyway, I didn't take anything from others and all I took was money from grandfather's office, he doesn't even give us enough, he doesn't even give it to us, he gives it to the butler to buy for us, so it's not stealing, I'm taking what's ours...

- You're right.

Cel looked up and looked indignantly at Cass and found Cass not even looking at him, the same bored look on his face, but...

He didn't understand why... It's always been like that, Cass has always agreed with everything he does, even if it's wrong, without a care in the world.

And if he didn't, why was he always reminding him of his mistakes?

Cel could never understand his brother's thought process!

Before Cel could say anything else, Cass looked outside and then spoke cheerfully in his quiet voice.

- I think it's time for punishment, the sun is setting.

- Yes, it's setting, and it looks scary like a punishment.

- Ooh, are you scared now?

- Humph... Look who's talking, aren't you the weak one? If you're not scared, how can I be?

Despite what they were saying and their laughter, it was a big lie that they weren't afraid, and the truth is that they really didn't want to go back

If only one of them had dared to admit it, the other would have followed suit and started planning their escape, but neither of them had the courage to admit their fear, nor the courage to run away...

The house may look scary, but the darkness of the night is even scarier.

They returned home silently, quietly, cautiously and fearfully as the sun began to set and the curtain of night slowly fell, and even as they hurried their steps, they arrived only after all the warmth of the sun had disappeared from the sky, holding each other's hands and drawing safety from each other.

They entered the luxurious vella and just as they expected, the butler greeted them at the gate and took them to their grandfather, who was eating his dinner, so they stood at the door and waited until the grandfather finished and looked at them coldly

It seemed that the grandfather was waiting for them, not out of fear or concern, but to punish them and give them a three-hour lecture on the importance of preserving their image in front of the world, which the two children have memorized and can point out any small difference in this lecture from what they are used to hearing.

I mean, what would he do if someone took a picture of them and posted it online (though no one would dare in the entire Eastern Continent)?

"Look, they're that old man's grandchildren, look how they hang out by themselves like beggars... Tsk, tsk..... Has the Januvia family descended this far?"

However, as they were preparing to hear the scolding and lecture and then go to the separate, dark room that served as their punishment room,

But this time the grandfather spoke a different and strange command to one of the servants without saying a word to scold them.

- Take Cassian alone to the punishment room, and you, Cecil, come to my office.

The grandfather moved without looking back as the twins looked at each other apprehensively, their hearts dropping out of their chests in fear.

Yes, they were quite used to being punished, yelled at, and ostracized, but since they realized this world, they have never been separated.

Step by step, they were together, in punishment and in reward

However, this time they were separated even though they didn't say a word but their eyes were screaming with surprise and fear, and Cel was dragged to the grandfather's office and Cass to the punishment room.

Cel entered the office and remained standing in front of his grandfather sitting in his black leather chair working, although some time had passed, but the grandfather did not speak, nor did he allow Cel to sit down or leave, as if he was trying to empty all the rest of his patience here by exhausting him psychologically by waiting endlessly away from his twin.

Maybe an hour.

or two hours.

or three...

or more...

Grandfather finally speaks up after he's done all his work.

- Why do you steal?

- .....

- Where did you go with your brother? Do you even know how long you've been hanging around outside?

- ....
