Zach set Rylin in her car seat and buckled her before getting in. Our girl is six months old now. At the moment, we're on our way to Cracker Barrel to celebrate Buck and Ali's birthday.
I chose a beautiful bay horse similar to Jericho. He didn't have the crazy white tail or the front stockings. The rest of him was like him.
Zach got started yesterday with my horse since he's been busy watching Rylin during the day. I've been getting off at three every day just to give Zach a break.
I bet they've been sleeping in the recliner when it's her nap time, well, he's watching TV while she sleeps, then in the afternoon, he sleeps with her.
We got there, and he carried her and the diaper bag in. He's going to be a great father figure. We entered and saw Colt and Hedli right away.
We found seats, and Zach had our daughter on his leg. After breakfast, we looked around the store. Zach was showing Rylin the stuffed animals and toys for little kids.
He picked one up, and she grabbed it from him. He smiled and paid for the toy.
Zach's POV
One year later....
Rylin was with my parents as I sat in the family lawyer's office. Kat was sitting next to me, looking away. She's been busier with the feed store than with Rylin.
She doesn't have anything to do with her anymore, and I don't know what to do anymore. I'm working long days at the ranch, my mom is enjoying time with Rylin, but I don't know if I did anything to Kat or if she just fell out of love with me. So I'm going to be Rylin's dad until she dies. The lawyer slid the papers over to her. Then to me. She had signed it without hesitation.
The top words are what hit me the most. I didn't want this, but if she's not going to be there for my daughter, then it needs to be done.
I signed the papers and handed them back to the lawyer. He looked through them, and he sent her out.
"So you're wanting the child full time, no share?" He asked. "Yes, sir. I've been around for her longer than her mother could ever be." I told him. He nodded. "The court date is set for two months from today. If she has moved out and has nothing to do with the child, then you get full custody of Rylin and everything that goes with her."
I nodded. He let me go home to my little girl. Yeah, it hurts when you find love, but I would rather my daughter live around family that loves her than her live with someone who sees her as a possible mistake. I'm not going to kick Kat out of our lives just because she does not want to be here. She can still see our daughter and enjoy the time she can spend with her.
