Chapter 4 - I Can Assimilate Other Cultivator's Talents?

"What!?" The middle-aged man shouted at the top of his lungs, unable to contain his excitement. To them, the physician's examination results felt like a dream—unbelievable, yet undeniably real.

"I'm sorry Physician Cheng, I didn't hear you correctly." The maid spoke, her voice trembling, not out of uncertainty, but out of refusal. She couldn't believe his words. No… she refused to believe them.

The old man gently placed his right hand on her shoulder, and a faint smile slowly crept across his lips. "Lady Cho, young master Li Yao is now more than fit to learn martial arts, despite his recovery, I might have to prescribe some herbs for him."

Tears welled up in the maid's eyes and spilled down her cheeks. Overcome with emotion, she rushed forward and embraced Li Yao as he laid on the bed, holding him tightly as if afraid he might disappear. "He can learn martial arts, Dai Chi my son can learn martial arts!"

'Wait what!? Son!? This maid is my mother? I thought I was the supposed young master of the sect?'

The middle-aged man—Daichi, placed a steady hand on her shoulder, his grip firm yet gentle. He fought to keep his composure, blinking rapidly as a single tear threatened to slip from the corner of his eye.

"The heavens are with us."

The physician turned without a word, quietly gathering his equipment. Once everything was in place, he made his way to the door.

"You're already leaving Physician Cheng? Let me escort you out." Daichi spoke up, his voice steady as he followed behind the physician.

"No need to trouble yourself with that, this looks like a family moment, I'll excuse myself for now."

The physician replied, his tone calm and composed. Though shock and disbelief lingered beneath the surface, he maintained a professional demeanor, refusing to let it show.

"Alright, thank you very much for your help Physician Cheng." Daichi bowed, folding his left fist into his right palm, displaying a traditional gesture of respect and gratitude.

The physician stepped out of the room and gently closed the door behind him. For a moment, he stood still, his gaze drifting over the grounds of the inn, lost in thought as the weight of what he had just witnessed settled over him.

'Impossible... How did that illegitimate bastard heal from that beating and wounds inflicted on him? Moreover how did his body heal so fast to the extent he is now in the perfect condition to learn martial arts?'

Despite his role as a medic, he harbored deep resentment toward Li Yao. As the physician of the Dragon sect, he used his position as a double agent to carefully monitor Li Yao's movements.

It was through this knowledge that he was able to pinpoint the exact moments Li Yao was away from Daichi, giving their sect the opportunity to strike.

"If indeed that boy went through a second awakening, I'm going to have to inform Master Mu."

He departed quietly, making his way to report directly to the young master of the Dragon Sect, carrying with him the crucial information that could tip the balance of power.

..

"I still can't believe it, the Young Master can now learn martial arts." Daichi ran a hand over his forehead, struggling to process the weight of the information before him.

"The heaven's truly are with us." Lady Cho gently held Li Yao's forehead, her smile radiant and full of relief. This was the best news she had ever received.

Li Yao was utterly speechless, he was literally at a loss for words. He had no idea what to say or how to process any of this, the idea of a maid being his mother baffled him.

Did that mean his father had made one of those 'mistakes' with a mere maid? The thought spun in his mind, tangled and confusing.

"Did you hear that Li Yao? You can now learn martial arts, isn't that exciting?" She asked her son, a bright smile tugging at the corners of her lips, her eyes filled with warmth and gentle curiosity.

"I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, it still hurts though, that fall really was something else."

"Lady Cho, let's give the Young Master some time to rest, he's been through a lot, we can celebrate this new development after he's had his rest." Daichi suggested.

"Alright." She nodded in agreement, slowly withdrawing her hands from his forehead before turning and making her way toward the door. "Rest well Yao."

As Daichi and Lady Cho slipped out and closed the door behind them, Li Yao sprang to his feet, stretching his eyes sideways and cracking his joints with a sharp pop.

"This happened so fast, I don't I've had time to properly process what's happening. All I understand is I transmigrated into my favorite novel, but I have no idea who this character is."

He continued stretching, working to loosen up and adjust to the unfamiliar sensations of his new body.

"Before I can move forward, I have to understand exactly what is happening."

'System.'

[Yes master?]

"You have vast knowledge concerning various things and people right?"

[That's right.]

"Excellent, can you tell me more about this body, I mean my body?"

[Certainly.]
