Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 – Blood Oath

John Wick awoke, quickly scanning his surroundings. On the ground nearby, he spotted his confiscated weapons—and the Dragon Ball.

"John," Viggo began, "let me put it this way: I'm going to have my men tear you to pieces."

"You're always so bold, you know that?"

John raised his head and looked at Viggo.

"Is that so?"

Viggo chuckled.

"Yes. I dare say even after five years, you're still sharp as ever."

John asked again, calm and cold.

"Is that so?"

Viggo leaned in.

"People don't change much."

"Time does."

He suddenly remembered the fire John had started and grew furious.

"Do you even know what was in that basement?"

"Art, cash—that might not matter much."

"But my criminal network in this city—videos, recordings, physical evidence, blackmail."

"That was priceless."

His voice rose with anger, arms flailing to emphasize his rage.

"Priceless."

John looked at him, expressionless.

"Yeah? I kinda enjoyed it."

Viggo laughed in disbelief.

"Of course you did."

"You're laughing, aren't you?!"

SMACK!

Viggo punched John across the face, nearly knocking both him and the chair over.

Outside, on the warehouse window ledge, Fox and Smith watched the scene unfold.

"This guy talks so much for a mob boss," Fox muttered.

She whispered, "You think Wick can still turn this around?"

Smith didn't answer. Instead, he pointed.

Fox raised her binoculars and spotted a man with a sniper rifle on a rooftop, aiming inside the warehouse.

"He really brought backup…"

After more back-and-forth, Viggo, pushed to the edge by John's mocking calm, waved his men over.

"Kill him."

Two of his goons pulled a plastic bag over John's head, aiming to suffocate him.

But in that moment, Smith Dole struck first—firing two bullets through the warehouse window.

Bang! Bang!

Both shots curved through the broken glass and hit their marks—right in the heads.

Smith then grabbed Fox and leapt from the second story window, landing in front of John Wick.

Watching from afar, Marcus, the sniper, saw it all. The two mysterious rescuers, the instant kill shots—John Wick was safe now.

John looked up, surprised they had saved him.

"Thank you… for saving me."

Fox cut the zip ties binding his hands.

Smith looked him over.

"You looked like hell, John. I thought you were about to go join Helen."

John nodded. Just moments ago, he really thought it was the end.

"Thank you, Smith."

"I owe you my life. If you ever need anything, I'll give it everything I've got."

He began gathering his gear, checking his weapons and tucking the Dragon Ball into the inner pocket of his suit. Then, picking up a Kel-Tec KSG shotgun, he asked:

"Am I still being evaluated?"

Smith nodded.

"You are."

John strapped on his gear and said:

"Smith, once I settle my business, I'll return to the Continental… with a Blood Oath Marker."

"For now, let me finish this."

Smith gave his approval with a nod, and John dashed out of the warehouse.

Fox turned to him.

"Blood Oath Marker?"

Smith explained:

"It's an oath guaranteed by the Continental. Whoever holds it can request the other party to perform a task—any task."

"Breaking it means facing the Continental's judgment."

Smith waved toward Marcus's location.

Marcus, realizing he'd been noticed, packed up his rifle and quietly left. The man had just witnessed an incredible feat—leaping from that height with someone in tow, eliminating two men mid-air… The Assassin Brotherhood really was on another level.

Still, Smith had just saved his old friend. Marcus was relieved he didn't need to intervene.

But he couldn't help but wonder—how had John Wick gotten entangled with them? Wasn't he retired?

Fox remarked:

"You just scored a Blood Oath. No wonder they call you GOD, future leader."

Smith smiled and didn't deny it.

"Let's go. Time to head back to the Continental."

Meanwhile, John Wick had tracked down Viggo. He blocked his car, stood on the hood, and blasted the driver with the shotgun.

"Viggo. Where is he?!"

Viggo stayed silent. John shot the man next to him, then shoved the barrel right in Viggo's face.

"Talk. Or you're next."

Faced with certain death, Viggo caved. He revealed his son's hiding place and withdrew the bounty on John Wick's head.

John paused. Then, without killing him, simply muttered:

"This was never anything more than personal."

As John walked away, Viggo breathed a sigh of relief.

Smith didn't bother watching the rest—he'd already returned to the Continental.

Back at the hotel, Fox commented:

"The bounty on Wick's head just got canceled."

Smith nodded.

"Looks like they reached an agreement."

"An agreement?" Fox blinked. "He didn't kill him?"

To her, it was baffling. After all that, John just… let Viggo live?

Smith understood John's motives, but chose not to explain.
