"Malia! Malia! Oh my God your burning up".said Tiffany as she touched her daughter's head. "You were quite alright last night".
"Mum, l don't feel too well and l don't think l will be able to go to school". Malia told her mum.
" Dats alright pumpkin. Lemme get you some..." she was saying before her phone started ringing."Tiffany where the fuck are you?" Have you forgotten that you have a board meeting with the CEO and some important personnels today by 7 and it's already 7: 30."
"I didn't forget. I was getting ready but l think Malia is having a fever. I don't think l will be able to come today and you know today's is her nanny's off day". Tiffany explained.
"Oh is that so. I will just try to cover up for you. Just know that you owe me one and tell my cutie pie to get well soon."Tiffany's bosom friend, Kira told her.
"No problem. Thanks a lot". Tiffany said before she hung up.
At the company, Malowre Designs
"Where is Miss Tiffany"? barked Liam, the CEO of Malowre designs.
"Sir..she.."Kira was trying to explain before she got interrupted.
"She what?"Liam asked impatiently
"She had some important issues to take care of"Kira continued
"Oh. I guess that issue is more important than her job because l wouldn't hesitate to fire her"
"Sir, please don't. It was really important if not she wouldn't just risk her job. I can fill in for her though".
"Meaning... she won't even come to work today? Tell her to see me first thing tomorrow morning". Liam said before walking away in anger
"Tell her to see me bla bla bla" Kira mimicked making faces. "So bossy, l wonder if he doesn't get tired."
Tiffany's Pov..
"Really? He actually said that?" Tiffany said laughing.
"Hmm, you should have seen his face. Like someone that got punched in a boxing match"Kira said
"I just hope l don't lose my job considering the fact that it's what l and Malia are using to cope since her father's family decided to turn their backs on us"
"My dear, don't overthink yourself. Leave those motherfuckers. They will get back their own payment in full. Don't worry, Liam won't fire you. He isn't that heartless. At least l hope not"Kira said grinning.
"Hmm.. so it's now Liam no longer sir. I hope so too". Tiffany said smiling.
"Yeah. It's Liam to me outside the walls of the company. If it were up to me l wouldn't even call him sir in the company".
"Kira! You won't cease to amaze me."
"Anyways lemme go check up on my cutie pie. Don't sweat it. Everything will be fine." Kira said patting Tiffany's shoulder before climbing upstairs.
Kira was a very close friend and maybe the only friend to Tiffany. Very supportive even when the family of her husband blamed Tiffany for the death of her husband meanwhile they took everything that her and her husband, Gerard ever worked for starting from the businesses to the contracts and every other thing they had. It was a miracle that they didn't take the apartment. She tried taking it to the court but just like she expected the lawyers were bought but she vowed to get everything back until her last breath.
