To the Wave - Part 2

The next three days passed uneventfully. Kiba finished his exercise faster than Sasuke, but both completed it on the third day. This only served to irritate the moody Uchiha even more. Meanwhile, Kakashi kept observing the blonde kunoichi. Her manners and features were so similar to his sensei's and his wife's… but he knew that Naruto was a boy. The slitted eyes confused him, but he could swear this girl was Naruto—even her name began with an "N." Besides, Naruto's body was never found.

They were having dinner and planning shifts now that Kakashi had recovered when Inari, Tsunami's son, stormed downstairs, yelling at them about how their efforts were meaningless, claiming that those from hidden villages didn't know what real suffering was.

"Shut your mouth, brat. Your dad is dead? Cry me a river. Mine is too. At least you have a mother, a grandfather, a roof, and warm food. I have no family—my clan was wiped out. I had the village I was part of try to kill me. The very people my parents died for tried to kill me. Then I joined a village where only my adoptive family knows my real name, just for my own safety. I can't even use the name my parents gave me. So go on, cry. At least I'm doing something with my life," said Naruko, leaving the house.

"Well, there goes your cover, Naruko. If that Kakashi guy doesn't figure it out now, then he's no longer elite ninja!" thought Bee.

Seeing the conflicted expression on Kakashi's face, Hinata motioned for him to follow Naruko.

"Go after her, Kakashi-san. Just be aware… she may not be what you're expecting."

"Yeah, do as H-chan says. I'll watch over the house in the meantime. Don't worry, Cyclops," said Bee with a smile.

As soon as the jonin left, Sakura moved closer to the Kumo-nin.

"Is what N-chan said true?"

Hinata snorted. Bee nodded. "That's the watered-down version. That girl knows pain like no one else."

Both Kiba and Sakura went to bed, depressed. Sasuke also headed upstairs, but as usual, no one knew more about pain than him—or so he thought.

In the forest outside

"N-CHAN! Please wait!" shouted Kakashi, jogging to catch up. "I… If it's not too hard for you, I want to hear your story."

"Why? To confirm your suspicions? And what will you do once you know who I was? You won't be able to do a thing. I'm a Kumo shinobi."

"So I was right… you survived, Naruko."

"NO! That Naruko is dead. She died that night, eight years ago. Her body broken, her heart pierced by the righteousness of the village she once loved. Her organs turned to mush by the very people she defended every day. Her left eye popped by Konoha's beauty in the form of a senbon-wielding kunoichi. No, Inu… (Kakashi was shocked that she knew his ANBU codename) that Naruko is no more. I am what remains, after Mother fixed me. No longer male. No longer weak. And this time, even less human."

"Naruko! You are human! Don't let Kumo make you think otherwise. You can come with us… with me… Sandaime-sama is desperate to find you. You were like a grandson to him."

"I know that, Inu-san. But you don't understand. You, Weasel, a few clan heads, and Sarutobi-jiji cared. But it wasn't enough. I was born human, but like the other eight, I no longer am. That's not an insult—it's the truth. And when Mother brought me back to life, I became even less human. The very monster you all feared was the only one who was there for me… always," said Naruko, her eyes becoming even more slitted as she stared into his.

"In Kumo, I have a family—people who are like me. I'm respected there. Why should I return to a village that tried—and succeeded—in killing me? Tell your Hokage that my brother, the Raikage, wishes to form an alliance. Tell him I'll return one day, but as an ally. I am a Kumo shinobi."

"Naruko, but… your father's—"

"Whoever my father is, the Hokage never told me! Whatever was meant for me, I was denied. One day, I will uncover the truth. I'll reclaim what's mine, whether it's a fortune or a miserable ryo," Naruko interrupted, angrier than before.

"I don't hate you, or Konoha… but I can only forgive, never forget…" she sighed. "Leave. I want to be alone. After all, we Jinchūriki love to stare at the full moon."

Kakashi was a strong man, hardened by years of loss and war. But Naruko shattered his resolve so effortlessly that he had no words left. And so he left—he left the very person he had fought so hard to find.

Next Morning

Haku found a strange tattooed girl in the forest. She had no forehead protector and didn't belong to the Konoha shinobi they'd met earlier. He knew that gathering information was important, but something about this girl was… unsettling. Regardless, he approached to wake her.

"I wouldn't do that, villager-san. Waking up a sleeping kunoichi can prove deadly," said a gentle voice behind him. Another girl stood there—and he hadn't even sensed her. That was bad. Very bad.

"Sorry if I startled you. We're just conducting a mapping operation in the Wave Country. Have you had any problems with the Konoha shinobi? I'm not sure why they're here, but they seemed ready for battle when we met them," said the girl, revealing her Kumo headband. Then she walked up to the blonde and kissed her awake.

"Eh… morning already?" yawned Naruko, baring her large canines. "Oh, who's this boy?"

Haku couldn't help but smile. "I'm Haku. Sorry for the inconvenience."

"Nonsense! It's normal to wake someone sleeping in the forest just to check on them. Just… not this someone," giggled Hinata.

"We're N and H—nice to meet you, Haku!" said Naruko cheerfully.

"N-chan, no need to shout," Hinata teased.

"Wow, you wake up full of energy. Funny—you're the first one in a long time not to mistake me for a girl."

"So what are you doing here, Haku-san?" Hinata asked.

"I'm gathering medicinal plants."

"Hey, H-chan, let's help him, ne?"

"If Haku-san is willing to have our help, I don't see why not. I love medicine. Maybe I can give you some of my salves—they help clean wounds, prevent infection, ease pain, and boost natural healing."

"I can't let you help me. I'm just gathering supplies to sell and—"

"To heal someone, right?" interrupted Naruko.

Haku tensed.

"No need to be so tense, Haku-san. It's easy to see you're worried about someone. Your face gives it away. But it's okay to care about people," Hinata said, then paused slightly before continuing the façade. "It's because you're a boy, right? And it's girly to care?"

"We won't judge you," Naruko added, winking at the beautiful boy.

Not giving Haku a chance to respond, Naruko got up and started picking herbs based on one from his basket. Hinata quietly slipped an ointment into the same basket.

"It's rare to see such strong ninja helping others without asking anything in return," Haku noted.

"Well, that's because we know what it's like to care for others," Hinata said with a smile.

"Now I know you're truly strong. Nothing makes you stronger than having someone precious to protect."

"Damn right, Haku. That's why we train like crazy—to protect our precious ones," Naruko said from under a bush.

Sometime later, the two girls bid Haku farewell and returned to Tazuna's.

Gato's Mansion

Gato's mansion was a two-story building surrounded by a courtyard, with barracks on one side and a small dock on the other. Jumping the fence was child's play. Evading the thugs patrolling the courtyard was even easier, thanks to the trees. Lockpicking a window... well, they had prepared a seal just in case it was difficult, but they didn't even need it. Honestly, the lockpick was almost unnecessary.

Gato might be a criminal, but the bastard certainly knew how to decorate—or at least hired someone talented to do it.

"Should we offer the mansion to Tsunami after cleaning it out? She might become the new leader of Wave once it's known she employed us."

"H-chan, knowing her, she'll probably turn it into a hotel or something. I agree, my love."

Both girls admired the place while searching for a room that looked like an office or study.

With Shirogan activated, they entered Gato's office. Hinata began copying every document she saw into the Eye Memory Seal scroll—a tool that functioned like a camera, using the chakra-fed eyes of its user to record. When Naruko had created the seal with Kurama's help, it was originally meant to record her favorite sights… but Hinata had quickly recognized its potential as a perfect spying tool for any dōjutsu user. Once adjusted to her eyes, it became one of her favorite tools.

Beyond financial documents and corporate records, she found juicier files: black market trading logs, cargo manifests of stolen and illegal goods, and a list of people in Wave Country Gato planned to sell into slavery once he had completely crushed the villagers' spirits.

As enraged as they were, the girls remained alert enough to hear Gato and his bodyguards approaching. Years of practice tricking the Raikage paid off—they slipped into stealth mode, hiding with henged disguises.

"Boss, you sure it's a good idea to backstab Zabuza?"

"Yeah, he's supposed to be some big-shot nukenin, right?" asked both thugs.

The imp of a man pulled a small book from his suit with his working arm. "You know what this is? A Bingo Book. It lists the most famous ninja and their bounties. Now tell me, why are you two my bodyguards and not the rest of the thugs on my payroll?"

"Because we've known you since we were young and know better than to question your orders," answered Renji.

"And because we carry out your dirtiest jobs without question," added Waraji.

"Exactly. You're not the strongest, but you're loyal and ruthless. Now, have I ever done anything without proper planning and a backup plan? No. Zabuza's going to fight a strong shinobi—doesn't matter who wins. I'll send our disposable troops,"—they all snickered—"to take out the survivors. Just in case that fails, you two will kidnap the old geezer's daughter. We'll bargain the ninja's retreat in exchange for her life. You're free to have some fun with her in the meantime. See? 100% chance of winning."

The little troll cackled.

"Oh, and I want to break that pretty boy's face. No one hurts the wise and magnanimous Gato and gets away with it," said Waraji dramatically.

"Hey boss, if he survives, let me break her ass too—right before gutting that little travesty," laughed the other thug.

"And that is why you're not like the others. I love when you get creative. I'll be heading to the bridge in two days. So will Zabuza. Be ready, boys. In less than a year, we'll be kings of this place."

"Human nature in its raw state, it seems."

"You're such a cynic sometimes, Ka-chan."

"Kurama-sama, you know humans are capable of good. Just… not these humans."

"Bah. One day you'll learn to just wipe out these plague-like beings. You should kill them now and be done with it."

As soon as the three criminals left, Hinata gathered the most incriminating files and left copies in their place.

"Yes, but we can also use this to prevent Zabuza and Kakashi-san from fighting. I'd like to spare Haku."

"H-chan's right. He seems like a good boy. Let's go back and inform Bee-sensei. We can bribe Zabuza with Gato's account, and I can open his safe vault for him. Yep! This is gonna end well—believe it!"

Tazuna's House

"So that's the plan. You'll engage Zabuza and his accomplice while we protect Tsunami-san and Inari. Try to convince him to surrender—or at least stall the fight until Gato makes his move. We'll be there as fast as we can. Just don't get too tired."

"Don't worry, H-chan. We're stronger than the bad man. Kakashi and I will hold him down like an iron grip—Yeah!" rapped Bee.

"If your sensei means we're part of the plan, then yes—count us in. I won't tell my genin; I want them to act naturally," said Kakashi.

"I'll make some clones to build an underground shelter for your family, just in case there are more thugs. We'll free Wave Country—consider yourself free already," said Naruko, giving a thumbs-up.

That night, dining at Tazuna's

Sakura felt guilty. It was going to be a rainy night, and her room had enough space for the other two girls… but she was afraid of them. The blonde was a wolf in disguise, and the well-mannered one felt too polished. What if they tried to seduce Sasuke if she let them in? Still, it felt unfair to leave them out in such weather.

The blue-haired kunoichi stared at her with cerulean, hypnotic eyes. It was like she was peering into her soul.

"I can't do that. Don't worry—I can't actually see into your soul," Hinata said with a snicker.

"Wha—what?!" Sakura stumbled and fell off her chair.

"What are you thinking about, Sakura-san? Your expressions keep changing so quickly. You've piqued my curiosity. Care to share your thoughts?"

"E-eh… Ah… WHAT?!"

"CHA! Who is this witch, and why does she think she can play with us!?"

Hinata gently smiled, offering a hand to help her up.

"Well? Are you sharing or not?"

"N-chan, don't be so pushy. If she doesn't want to tell us, we must respect that."

"But H-chan… her face turned so red. Was she embarrassed? Or having dirty thoughts? I neeeeeeed to know!" Naruko pouted.

"WHAT?! That creepy blonde thinks I'm a pervert?!"

"I need to answer or they'll think badly of me—in front of Sasuke-kun, no less!" "Sasuke-kun must find us attractive and ladylike no matter what!"

"We-well… I was thinking that since it's likely to rain tonight, maybe you'd prefer to share a room with me. But there's only one more bed in there."

"That's an excellent idea, Sakura-san. Bee-san, you can take the sofa if you want," offered Tsunami. Bee nodded.

Later that night

Sakura watched Hinata and Naruko undress with envy. Their well-developed, toned bodies moved with effortless grace. Naruko slipped into the small bed first, spooning Hinata, burying her face in that midnight-blue hair, sniffing and sighing.

Sakura quietly changed into her pajamas, trying to hide as much skin as possible, and climbed into bed.

But sleep didn't come. She kept imagining the two girls' undressed bodies.

"This isn't fair! How can those ugly Kumo kunoichi have such curves and not me?!"

"We can't let them near Sasuke-kun. They'll tempt him for sure."

"GRRRR! We must destroy them in front of Sasuke so he loves us for protecting him. Like a true clan matriarch—Sakura Uchiha… that sounds so good."

"Shush! You're making me think bad thoughts. You know what it takes to be a matriarch, right? We're not ready for that yet. We're too young!"

"Don't be a coward! We're more than ready to give ourselves to Sasuke-kun! I am, at least!"

Sakura had a small nosebleed at the thought of her special moment with her beloved Sasuke-kun.

"Keep your hands still, N-chan. We're not alone, remember?" whispered Hinata. Sakura heard her perfectly.

"Mmm, and why should I? I can smell her. She's aroused… and bleeding. So, either she's having the dirtiest dream ever, or she enjoys cutting herself. My bet's on the first," said Naruko while rubbing Hinata's thighs.

Hinata moaned when her wife licked her ear.

"N-chan, I think she's awake," she whispered as Naruko grabbed her breast, making her gasp. "We should stop. It's not proper to do this in front of others."

"Oh my… is my wife so righteous and proper that she's afraid of being touched in front of someone who's just as dirty as me—or even dirtier?" Naruko cooed, nibbling her ear.

"No, my dear, I'm not that proper. But I don't want you starting something we might not be able to finish because of our roommate."

Then, raising her voice slightly so Sakura could hear every word clearly:

"You know I'm your wife and lover, but it's not about righteousness. It's to ensure our friend isn't deprived of her sleep. You know how cranky you get when sleep-deprived—only Kurama-sama is worse."

"Wait—you said wife?!" Sakura nearly shouted.

"Are those two friggin' lesbians?!" shrieked Inner Sakura.

"Oh, so you were awake! Ha! I told ya—nosebleed!" said Naruko.

"Yes, Sakura-san. We're a couple."

"But… but… you're both girls! That's so wrong! You must be mistaken!"

"CHA! At least they won't go after Sasuke-kun!"

"Yes, that's reassuring… but also disturbing. Why don't they want him?"

"Maybe they want us! KILL THOSE WHORES RIGHT NOW!"

Sakura flinched and stared at them with mistrust.

"Well, now that that's settled, how about sleeping? You understand we want nothing to do with Uchiha-san, right?"

"Yeah, even for a guy, he's pretty lame and emo. All he does is grunt and brood," yawned Naruko.

"You should know Sasuke-kun is amazing! There's no one better than him. I know he's destined for greatness—and I'm destined to be with him!"

"Wow. So delusional," thought girls and bijuu alike.
