Chapter 2 - Disagreement

There are four major teams in the academy, which are divided based on the operations they are given.

Alpha, Beta, Charlie, and Delta.

These groups are made based on individual accomplishments or team achievements.

The number of dragons hunted by a team decides their position in the school, and if a whole team can't advance but a few individuals from the team are performing better, then they are promoted to a team above them.

Every team has five members and those who couldn't form a team are called Mavericks.

The lower three teams might have more than one each year; in the third year, there are three Charlies and two Betas, and in the second year, there are two Charlies and three Deltas. However, there could be only one Alpha and Beta.

The requirement to get into Team Alpha is just too demanding and risky.

The cream of the crops gets their name registered under Team Alpha.

And the requirement only grows as the year passes.

So, one could imagine the hard work Hades must have put in to reach this stage. Not only is he a part of the Alpha team, he is the captain of the squad.

In two and a half years, he has killed more than forty-eight dragons and even slaughtered an elder rank.

His name is so widespread that even the students from different academies know him and respect him.

And it also explains why so many students have gathered today to wish him luck.

After all, they all know what Hades could achieve if he succeeded today.

He would be the first person who would attain a dragon hunting license before graduation.

A feat that would be registered in the history book with golden letters.

Looking at the students waiting for the team from the window, Hades exhaled a sigh, "Rather than enjoying the weekend they are waiting for us."

"Waiting for us or waiting for you?" Another member of the team joked.

It was an olive green-haired boy named Taylor who stood there, wiping his blades.

He was the tactician of the team, someone who assisted the offense and defense.

"My name is widely known because I have the support of you guys." Hades spoke with a shake of his head.

"You don't need to be humble, Hady. We all know the true reason you became famous is that Elder-dragon. None of us can't even stand against it for long and you butchered that thing."

The tank of the team, Graham Dorhem, added.

He was a tall black-haired guy, wearing silver armor and a Warhammer on his back.

Hades was feeling tired already. He didn't want to hear about that incident.

Truth be told, he has been over-praised for the incident.

Elder rank was just above Solitary rank. Above the Elder rank were Duke and Warlord ranks. Not to forget Dragon Kings.

He was still too weak to actually call himself a dragon-slayer.

He wanted to slay all the Five Dragon Kings. Then only he would allow himself to bathe in the spotlight and receive all the praises with open arms.

"Cedric is here." Someone said before Hades' eyes traveled towards the door.

Stepping inside the room was the blond teenager who was also on the same team as them.

He was the magician and someone who stood in the front. His role is to protect the healer and support Hades during a raid.

However, what caused all the other two members to turn stiff was his position in society.

He was the crowned Prince of the nation.

His azure eyes were stoic and emotionless as he took a seat beside Taylor and told them,

"Rinne is not available."

"What?!" Taylor reacted instantly.

"What ...?" Graham's reaction was slow but his shock was as evident as Taylor's.

Hades frowned, "What do you mean not available?"

Cedric glanced at the team captain before relaying, "An emergency arose. It seems her grandma is sick and she had to return home."

The news caused Hades' frown to grow deeper.

Rinne was the healer of the team, someone who held a very crucial role in the team.

It goes without saying that without her they won't be permitted to raid.

"Should we postpone?" Taylor suggested.

"But we don't know if we will find another herd of solitary-ranked dragons anytime soon," Graham interjected.

It takes time to find a nest since solitary-ranked mostly hunt alone. And to achieve what Hades desired, he must destroy a nest.

"We have no other choice but to cancel the raid," Cedric added, leaning back in his seat, but the look on Graham's face exposed that he was reluctant.

Taylor turned towards the red-haired swordsman who was standing beside the window with his crimson eyes on the floor.

"What do you say, boss? You got the last call."

Cedric's brows creased but he didn't say anything.

Graham also turned silent, trusting Hades' judgment.

After a brief pause, Hades decided, "We will take a healer from the Beta team and go for this raid."

Taylor massaged his brows...why didn't he not expect this?

A grin stretched Graham's lips as his eyes boldly shouted, 'Hell yeah!'

Meanwhile, Cedric rose from his seat and spoke in a heavy voice, "You know what can happen if we don't follow the rules."

"There is no written rule to not take members from another team. It has also happened in the past." Hades argued.

"But we didn't go for nest hunting. This is dangerous." Cedric retaliated.

Hades exhaled a weary sigh, "I will take the responsibility if something happens, okay?"

Cedric gritted his teeth, "If you had already made up your mind, why bother asking for our opinion?" Saying so he turned away and walked out of the room.

Hades watched his back until it disappeared behind the door.

Soon, a heavy arm draped over his shoulder as he heard his friend saying, "You are making the right decision, mate. Don't worry about him."

Hearing Graham's words, Hades nodded...hoping that he was right, not Cedric.
