Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Scraps Wont Get You Far

In a desolate land a young man with dark hair and grey eyes resided he only wanted one thing and one thing only to be able to get enough funds to bring him and his sister to the big city for her to live a safer life than she's been living through everyday, and today that could become true!

Finn was gathering all the trinkets and scraps he could find in order to sell it to the black smith in town.

He arrived at the black smiths store opened the door and as the bell above him rang he pulled the sack filled with scraps inside with him.

Behind the counter an old man was standing he had black hair but most of it was silver by now despite being old he was big and strong due to years of working as a black smith Finn was lucky to have made a relationship with the guy.

The black smith noticed him prompting him to smile and wave hello at him.

"Morning old man, had a nice sleep? I hope you did because I sure didn't, why the hell was the last supply run at three in the morning!"

Brock stopped covering his ears "Do you really have to shout its early in the morning right now"

"As if i don't already know that you sack of-"

suddenly the front door opened again and the familiar sound of the bell rung again the first customer arrived Finn took one last angry look at Brock and made his way into the back of the store leaving Brock to attend to the customer.

Waiting for brock to finish the deal outside Finn was taking the scraps out of the big sack he had and lay them down on the table the last run although very late at night he was able to nab a lot of scraps to sell Finn never understood why the naive black smith was buying all this scrap off of him but it didn't matter all that mattered was to get all the money he needed to hire that representative.

A representative was the only way for Finn and his sister Maaka to be able to get in the big city from there Finn would get a job and be able to give them both a somewhat stable life at least that's what he has planned.

Finally the door opened again after some time

As Brock was inspecting the scraps and looking through them Finn asked " So? How much do you think you should pay for these?"

Brock turned to him almost bursting to laughter "You seriously think these would cut it?"

'I should slap him'

Holding back on the thought of slapping him Finn continued talking "Yes these parts particularly should sell for a good amount"

Brock laughed "Not a chance kid"

Finn was frustrated not only was the run late at night but he still wont get enough money from it "Well what else should I do now?"

Brock turned to Finn "Tell you what kiddo, yesterday a group of men were at my store they were talking about some old bunker near the town to the south you can probably go there and grab a few thing that I can buy off you... tell you what I wont even buy them get me the trinkets in that bunker and I'll hire that representative my self"

Finn's eyes were brought to life again "Are you serious old man?! Of course I'll take the job!"

Brock let Finn in on more of the details and where he'd find the bunker and after they were done Finn head out after all he still had to buy some stuff

***

Finn had just finished buying the last of the things they needed and was making his way home

On his way he passed by a small alley inside a frail young kid was being robbed all his food was being taken same with his money

Finn grimaced

'Tough luck kid..'

He had been in that kids place once not fun to have your money stolen

Finn looked away and continued on his way home

***

Tim was having a horrible day his mother was sick and to make it worse he was being robbed

Tim's eyes were filled with tears he shouldn't have given the money nor the food his mother needed help... but he was weak pathetic he couldn't even protect himself how was he supposed to save his dying mother

Sitting in the alley he was crying a river

'I'm sorry mother I'm just not strong enough'

Tears were running down his face

"Stand up kid"

Looking up a young man with dark hair and grey eyes was looming above him

the young man crouched

"I think this is yours"

He handed him the bag filled with food and the stolen money

Tims eyes brightened

"Thank you mister...Thank you so much for getting my stuff back!"

Finn faintly smiled "Don't mention it"

And with that he got up and walked away "Oh and one last thing, never let someone do you like that and never spoil your self with the rotten idea that you are weak"

'How did he-'

"If I were to be in your place... I would've ran away even if it ended up in me being caught and beat at least I would've tried something instead of not"

And with that the young man was gone

***

Finn made it to the bottom of a tree house he walked up to the tree

"Hey Maaka would you be generous enough to drop down the ladder please its getting real cold out here! brr"

After some wait the ladder finally dropped he climbed up and pulled the ladder up as well so no one can get up, and made his way inside.

Walking into his room he couldn't see Maaka anywhere

'Huh? Where is she?'

suddenly someone lunged at him making him fall to the ground

"argh"

Maaka had surprise attacked him with a hug

"Hug" The petite young girl said

Finn placed his palm on her head "Missed you too Maaka"

After Finn put Maaka to bed and was looking out through his window

The view was decent besides the ginormous tree that can be seen from all around the world , The tree was tall and giant like, with some leaves being of gold color and some being of Ashburn red

Finn never liked that tree it was creepy to him of course others called him crazy for disliking the tree apparently people believe that the tree is the sole reason why humanity still stands a chance against the corruption and the creature it creates.

'It's getting late now... I should get some sleep'

He took one last look at the ominous tree and went to sleep he needed to rest for tomorrow would be a big day for him

Tomorrow he'd scavenge a bunker and alone...
