Chapter 154 - Whispers of Intimacy: A Night at Damien's Villa
The ride back from the restaurant was uncomfortably quiet. Mr. Vance had practically fled after dinner, making hasty excuses about early morning preparations. I couldn't blame him—Damien's behavior had been blatantly possessive all evening.
"Are you going to explain what that was about?" I finally asked as we pulled away from the restaurant.
Damien kept his eyes on the road, his profile illuminated by passing streetlights. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. The interrogation over dinner? The constant touching? You were practically marking your territory."
A faint smile played at the corner of his mouth. "Was I that obvious?"
"You might as well have peed in a circle around me," I muttered, crossing my arms.
Instead of being offended, Damien laughed—a genuine, warm sound that despite my annoyance made my heart flutter. "I apologize if I made you uncomfortable."
