Chapter 1 - [1]. Reborn as a Saiyan

"Ugh… my head… Where am I?"

Kaso propped himself up from the bed, feeling like someone had whacked him over the head with a club, then tossed him to the ground and stomped on him twice for good measure.

A soft cry came from nearby.

"Kaso-gege, you're finally awake!"

Kaso turned his aching head toward the voice and saw a frail little girl, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed uncontrollably.

Seeing her cry like that would break anyone's heart.

"Kaso?"

Kaso blinked in confusion. Were they calling him?

What kind of name was that?

Then he noticed—the little girl had a tail wrapped around her waist.

"Ahhh—!"

A sharp pain suddenly exploded in his head. Two distinct sets of memories were clashing and intertwining in his mind, gradually merging.

The pain was unbearable. As the memories fused, Kaso blacked out.

Kaso—formerly Ling Yun, a young man from the 21st century—had been living off rental income from an apartment left by his parents. His greatest joy in life was watching anime, especially Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama.

One night, while rewatching Dragon Ball for the nth time, he accidentally touched his computer's power switch. In an instant, his brain went blank, his body went numb, and the next thing he knew… he had arrived in this strange world.

During the memory fusion, he learned that Kaso was the original owner of this body—a Saiyan who had taken a brutal beating from Nappa while trying to protect the frail little girl. On the brink of death, Ling Yun's soul happened to transmigrate and take over the dying Kaso's body.

Due to the severe injuries, Kaso's soul was nearly shattered. During the memory fusion, Ling Yun easily seized dominance.

Time passed slowly.

Finally, Ling Yun had fully absorbed the other set of memories.

This was…

The Dragon Ball world!

He was overjoyed.

Ever since he was a child, he had loved Dragon Ball. He'd often act out transformations, clenching his fists and screaming like Goku turning Super Saiyan, eyes wide and teeth gritted in a full-blown chuunibyou episode.

Sometimes he'd even shout mid-shower, startling his parents in the living room. Of course, a beating usually followed.bi'er

After his parents passed away, he calmed down a bit, but his love for Dragon Ball never faded. He'd watched it over and over without ever getting bored.

Who would've thought a freak accident would actually send him into the Dragon Ball world?

"Saiyan Kaso? I'll take this life and run with it!"

He was so excited he wanted to laugh out loud, but the pain from his injuries and the throbbing in his skull had him gritting his teeth instead.

"Kaso-gege, are you okay?"

The little girl's face was soaked in tears. She reached out a trembling hand to touch Kaso's face but hesitated, afraid it might hurt him.

Seeing Kaso's expression shift back and forth, she grew worried. Did Nappa beat him stupid?!

That thought broke her down again. She sobbed harder and muttered through her tears, "Nappa, give me back my Kaso-gege…"

Watching her cry like that stirred something deep in Kaso's heart. Maybe it was the remnants of the original Kaso's feelings, but he felt an overwhelming sadness and protectiveness.

"Don't cry, Bii'er. Gege's okay now." Kaso gently pulled Ausbi'er into his arms and comforted her.

In his merged memories, he learned that Kaso and Ausbi'er were orphans. Their parents had once fought side-by-side as members of Bardock's squad, but all of them had died during a mission.

Since then, the two had lived together, looking after each other. Without their parents, they were both thin and malnourished.

As for Nappa, he came from one of the top noble families among the Saiyans. His father was a close aide to King Vegeta himself.

Nappa, who followed young Vegeta around like a thug, was arrogant and ruthless. He especially loved bullying orphans like Kaso and Ausbi'er.

Yesterday, Kaso's original self had taken a beating from Nappa. That he was still alive and lying in bed now was only thanks to Ausbi'er dragging him back home.

Kaso felt a pang in his heart. His predecessor and Ausbi'er had grown up together like siblings, and their bond ran deep. If she ever found out that the real Kaso was already gone… how devastated would she be?

"Nappa, huh…"

Kaso's eyes turned cold.

But after comforting Ausbi'er, he pushed aside thoughts of revenge for now. What he needed most was to figure out his current power level.

He reached for a scouter on the cabinet and, following the memory in his mind, activated it.

"Power level… 300."

300?!

Kaso was shocked. That was already stronger than the aging Demon King Piccolo!

After thinking it through, he guessed that being on the brink of death must've triggered a power boost—a classic Saiyan trait.

From his memories, he also realized that this body belonged to an Elite Saiyan.

A smile crept onto Kaso's lips. Elite, huh?

Not bad. He may not have the fabled Legendary Saiyan physique, but it was still way better than Goku's Low-Class Warrior start.

Truth be told, judging a Saiyan's potential by their birth power level was flawed.

After all, Goku started as a low-class warrior but survived near-death experiences time and time again, constantly breaking his limits. He even surpassed Vegeta repeatedly. Sure, some of it was plot armor, but it also proved how arbitrary the ranking system really was.

Still, being born with high power did give you a head start. As an Elite, Kaso had a major advantage.

"Just wait, Nappa. Your days are numbered."

Kaso sneered inwardly.

Nappa had just earned himself a spot on Kaso's kill list. And Kaso didn't feel the least bit guilty about it.

This world operated on the law of the jungle. Planet-busting? Universe-wiping? That was the norm here. All Kaso wanted was to grow stronger and survive.

He sorted through his memories. What year was it now? How much time was left before Planet Vegeta exploded?

"Bii'er, what year is it?"

He needed to know exactly when he was.

From his knowledge of the Dragon Ball timeline, he recalled that Planet Vegeta was destroyed in Age 737.

"It's Age 735," Ausbi'er said, wiping away her tears with her little hand.

"Only two years left?"

Kaso frowned.

Time was tight.

He remembered that two years later, Frieza would destroy Planet Vegeta.

Frieza, the prodigy of the Frost Demon Race, had been warned by his father, King Cold, to be wary of the Saiyans—especially the rise of the golden-haired Super Saiyan.

On top of that, under orders from a certain deity, Frieza decided to gather all the Saiyans—those on missions and those at home—and wipe them out in one go in Age 737.

Only a few lucky survivors made it out.

Kaso currently had only 300 in power level. He and Ausbi'er were just five years old.

Forget saving Planet Vegeta—they couldn't even beat Prince Vegeta, let alone Frieza.

Vegeta was born with a power level of 1000, a true Saiyan prodigy. But even he was a bug compared to Frieza's 530,000 in his base form.

"No… I have to get off Planet Vegeta within two years… or I'm dead for sure."

Kaso murmured to himself, eyes downcast.

If he could just leave Planet Vegeta, he could rely on the knowledge in his mind to grow strong. Then maybe… just maybe… Frieza wouldn't be so unbeatable.

For now, he had no choice but to survive, train, and grow.

When the day of destruction came, he'd try to save as many Saiyans as he could.
