Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

I changed his name to Alex because someone said Sasha reminds him of the potato girl

The door slid open with a casual clack.

"Morning, class."

Satoru Gojo stepped in as if he owned the building, which, in spirit, he probably did. Black blindfold, white hair, laid-back grin. He carried a drink in one hand and radiated too much confidence for this early in the day.

His gaze flicked briefly across the room.

"Ah, so you're the new guy."

Alex gave a casual nod. "Yep. Just got here."

Gojo studied him for just a second, like reading the label on something dangerous. Then he smiled wider.

"Welcome to Jujutsu High. Don't break anything you can't afford."

Alex smirked. "I'll try not to."

Yuji shifted in his seat. The pressure hadn't disappeared since Alex walked in. It lingered, silent and thick, like the moment before a lightning strike. He sat straighter, eyes narrowing a touch.

"Hey, uh… Alex, right? You wanna go a round? Like, sparring? After school?" Yuji asked, tone half-joking, half-curious.

Alex looked at him and grinned, not in mockery, but as if welcoming a challenge. "Why not? Sounds fun."

Yuji blinked. He wasn't expecting it to be that easy.

Gojo chuckled. "Alright, then. Just don't embarrass the poor guy too badly, Alex."

Alex stretched out one shoulder with a faint crack. "No promises."

The rest of the day passed quickly. They covered the theory of cursed spirits, levels, and safety protocol. Alex didn't bother with notes, but he paid attention. He leaned back in his chair, tossing in a few questions now and then that made it clear he wasn't clueless. He even cracked a joke or two when Gojo's metaphors got too wild.

Now and then, his thoughts drifted. Faces flickered through his memory, dirt-streaked, tired, some never to be seen again. His old squad. The guys are still out there. He remembered the sounds: rotors above, boots on gravel, the pop of distant gunfire. But that was another world. He exhaled slowly. That chapter was closed.

During lunch, he didn't sit alone. Yuji waved him over without hesitation. Nobara followed with her tray, Megumi trailing silently behind. It wasn't forced. Just natural.

Yuji talked with his usual enthusiasm, asking Alex about his hobbies. Alex answered honestly enough he liked working with his hands, fixing things, drinking, smoking, and occasionally gambling. Claimed he could cook but hated sweets. Nobara raised an eyebrow.

"No sweets? You sure you're human?"

Alex smirked. "I saw too much sugar in army rations. Makes you weird after a while."

That earned a laugh. Even Megumi cracked a small smile.

At some point, Nobara walked past him to refill her drink. Alex's eyes followed, just for a moment.

Damn. She's got an ass on her.

Somehow, he fit in. He talked, joked, and teased Yuji about how he ate like a construction worker.

When classes ended, they moved to the training yard. The school had an open field behind the main building, featuring soft grass, flat stone markers, and ample space to move around without worry.

Gojo leaned against a tree, arms folded. "Alright, boys. Try not to wreck the yard. And Yuji? Don't get yourself folded."

Yuji grinned wide, bouncing lightly on his feet. "Don't worry. I'm not the one who's going to be flat on his back."

Alex chuckled, unbuttoning his jacket and tossing it aside. He rolled his sleeves and flexed his fingers.

Gojo pushed his blindfold up slightly, just a touch, to see more clearly. His expression didn't change, but his interest was obvious.

The two stepped into the centre of the yard. Yuji raised his fists, bouncing side to side. Alex stood still, hands loose, breathing steady.

A breeze blew through the grass. Someone called "Begin."
