Chapter 1 - chapter 1 - My new life felt empty

The car lay mangled and twisted, its metal crumpled like paper. The windshield was shattered, and glass fragments glinted in the darkness. I was trapped in the wreckage, groaned in pain, my parents motionless beside me. The sound of sirens pierced the air as ambulances rushed to the scene.

As the paramedics arrived, they carefully extricated me from the car, my body battered and bruised. I struggled to move, my eyes fluttering open and closed as i cried out in pain. My parents, however, remained still, their condition unknown. The paramedics worked swiftly to stabilize me, administering oxygen and immobilizing my injuries.

As the medical team worked, my gaze drifted to my parents, my eyes filled with fear and worry. I tried to speak, but my voice was hoarse and barely audible. The paramedics' voices were calm and reassuring, but my mind was racing with concern for my parents. Just as they were about to lift me into the ambulance, my world went dark, and i lost consciousness.

Two weeks later.

As I slowly regained consciousness, the sterile hospital environment came into focus. The beeping of machines and the faint scent of antiseptic filled my senses. I tried to move, but a wave of weakness washed over me, making my limbs feel heavy. Groggily, i turned my head to the side, and my gaze fell upon a girl sitting beside my bed, sobbing uncontrollably.

The girl's tears fell onto their intertwined hands, her grip on my hand tight and desperate. My eye widened as i took in the girl's distraught expression, her face red and puffy from crying. As our eyes met, the girl's sobs intensified, and she leaned forward, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're awake... thank God you're awake," she murmured, her words punctuated by sniffles. My foggy mind struggled to place the girl, but her gentle touch and tears of relief sparked a sense of familiarity and comfort.

Just then, a doctor entered the room, clipboard in hand. "Ah, welcome back! I'm Dr. Lee. How are you feeling?" My eyes met the doctor's, and i hesitated, unsure of how to respond. The doctor's kind smile put me at ease, and i managed a weak "I...I don't know. I don't remember anything."

Dr. Lee's expression turned sympathetic. "Don't worry, that's not uncommon after a traumatic brain injury. You've been in a coma for two weeks. We'll run some tests, but it's possible you may have retrograde amnesia." My eyes widened in alarm as the doctor began examining me, asking questions and shining a light in my eyes. The girl beside me held my hand tightly, offering silent support as i struggled to come to terms with my new reality of Valeria Williams – a reality without memories.

As the doctor finished the examination, the girl sitting beside me spoke up, her voice soft but determined. "Hey, sis? You might not remember anything, but I'm here for you. I'm Amanda, your sister." My eyes locked onto Amanda's, and i studied her face, trying to spark any memory. Amanda's brown hair fell in loose waves around her heart-shaped face, and her gray eyes seemed to bore into my soul with a mix of sadness and hope.

My gaze lingered on Amanda's features, and i felt a strange sense of familiarity, but it wasn't enough to jog my memory. "Amanda...?" I whispered, testing the name. Amanda's face lit up with a gentle smile, and she squeezed my hand reassuringly. "That's right, sis. I'm your sister. We'll get through this together, okay?" I nodded, feeling a sense of comfort with Amanda's presence, even if my memories remained elusive

Dr. Lee's gentle voice broke the silence, "I think it's time we talked about what happened. The accident... it was a car crash. Unfortunately, your parents didn't survive." Amanda's grip on her hand tightened, and she leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm so sorry, sis. I know this is a lot to take in. But I'm here for you."

My expression remained distant, my mind is struggling to process the information. I heard the words "your parents didn't survive" and "you're my sister," but they felt like abstract concepts, lacking emotional resonance.

I felt like an outsider looking in, observing the scene unfold without being a part of it. The words "parents" and "sister" were just labels, devoid of meaning. I nodded slowly, trying to understand the relationships and events being described, but it all felt like a story about someone else.

Two weeks later.

The doctor smiled warmly as he reviewed my charts. "It looks like you're healing well. I'm pleased to say you're cleared to go home today." Amanda's face lit up with a relieved smile as she helped the me sit up and swing my legs over the side of the bed.

The doctor's expression turned serious for a moment. "Just remember, you've had a significant trauma, and your body needs time to recover. Get plenty of rest, avoid strenuous activities, don't stress about past memory and follow up with me in a week." I nodded, though i still felt a bit disconnected from it all.

Amanda took charge, gathering my belongings and helping me into a wheelchair. I'll take care of you, sis," she said softly, her eyes filled with determination. As we prepared to leave the hospital, i felt a mix of uncertainty and gratitude, knowing i had Amanda by my side to navigate this new chapter in my life.

Third person pov:-

As they drove home, Vaeria gazed out the car window, her eyes tracing the passing scenery. The world outside seemed familiar yet foreign, a blur of buildings and trees that meant nothing to her.

they drove through the grand entrance, the gatekeeper nodded in recognition, and the gates swung open to reveal the sprawling Williams estate. Vaeria's eyes widened as she took in the majestic mansion, its facade a blend of modern and classical architecture. The driveway curved around a beautifully manicured lawn, with a stunning fountain at its center, water dancing in the sunlight.

Amanda smiled, noticing Vaeria's awe. "Welcome home, sis." The mansion's doors opened, and they stepped inside, surrounded by opulent decor and lavish furnishings. Vaeria's gaze wandered, trying to absorb the grandeur of their home.

As they parked, Vaeria spotted a collection of luxurious cars in the driveway, sleek and high-end models that seemed to gleam in the sunlight. Amanda chuckled. "Dad loved his cars. He had a whole collection." Vaeria's expression remained distant, the wealth and luxury surrounding her feeling more like a stranger's life than her own.

As they entered the mansion, The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but Vaeria felt like a stranger in her own home. They walked through the foyer, and Vaeria's gaze fell upon a beautifully decorated wall adorned with family photos.

Amanda led her to a section of the wall where photos of their parents were prominently displayed. Vaeria's expression softened as she gazed at the images, feeling a sense of reverence wash over her. Amanda placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, and they stood there in silence for a moment, paying their respects.

As they moved into the grand hall, Amanda turned to Vaeria with a warm smile. "You must be exhausted. Why don't you go take a bath, get freshened up? We can have dinner later, and I'll show you around the house properly." Vaeria nodded, grateful for the suggestion. Amanda gestured toward the staircase. "Your room is upstairs, second door on the right. I'll have some clothes sent up for you."

Vaeria ascended the staircase, her footsteps echoing in the grand hallway. She felt a sense of relief wash over her as she reached the door to her room, eager to unwind and process the day's events.
