Chapter 4 - Mission Accomplished

When Wu Fan approached the group of magical rabbits again, two of them closest to him lunged at him, their eyes filled with darker shadows.

Wu Fan instinctively took two steps back, but recalling the village elder's disdain, he forced himself to calm down. He stared intently at the two rabbits. When they were right in front of him, Wu Fan swung his wooden stick, sending one flying.

Before Wu Fan could celebrate, the other rabbit had already pounced on him. Its sharp claws slashed across his body, tearing through his clothes and leaving three clear marks on his arm.

"Damn! That hurts!" Wu Fan's face paled. He had no idea how much regular rabbit scratches hurt, but these magical rabbit scratches were genuinely painful.

"Trying again? Do you think I'm easy to bully?" The rabbit that had scratched him lunged again, but Wu Fan's fighting spirit was ignited. He couldn't really be defeated by a rabbit, could he?

When the magical rabbit was in front of Wu Fan, he swung his stick again. With a "bang," it hit the rabbit's forehead.

The rabbit flew away like a baseball, its four small legs twitching on the ground before it finally stopped moving.

Wu Fan was just catching his breath when he widened his eyes. Because, after a few seconds, that rabbit had vanished into thin air!

What the hell!

Wu Fan rubbed his eyes hard, but he still couldn't see the rabbit. It was as if the rabbit had never existed.

"Could this all be a dream?" Wu Fan muttered to himself as he rubbed his eyes.

At that moment, the mechanical voice that had scared him several times appeared again.

"Level up."

"Character stats panel activated."

"Inventory system activated."

Several consecutive voices left Wu Fan stunned in place.

And at that moment, Wu Fan suddenly realized that he might be in a game.

Wu Fan hadn't thought about it before because everything was too real, completely unlike a game. But now, with quests, "monsters," levels, stat panels, and everything else, it all resembled a game too much.

"Could that so-called deity have sent me to a game world?" Wu Fan thought.

After fiddling around for a bit, Wu Fan summoned his character stats panel, which appeared in front of his eyes like a projection.

Name: Wu Fan

Level: 1

Class: None

Strength: 1

Agility: 1

Intelligence: 1

Constitution: 1

Health: 100

Mana: 100

Equipment: Broken Wooden Stick: Attack 1

Wu Fan's stats were extremely simple, standard newbie character stats, which made him even more certain that he was in a game world.

As for the inventory, it was even simpler - ten slots in total, but they were all empty, containing nothing.

While Wu Fan was checking his stats, the magical rabbit he had hit first was staggering back toward him. Even though its movements were unsteady, the malevolent aura in its eyes hadn't diminished at all.

Since he now knew he was in a game world and these magical rabbits were monsters, Wu Fan didn't hold back. When the rabbit ran to his side, he hit it again with his broken wooden stick. This time, after it fell to the ground, it couldn't get up again and was completely lifeless.

And the rabbit's corpse disappeared just like the previous one.

After killing two magical rabbits in succession, Wu Fan had gained experience in killing them. Since the quest required killing ten rabbits, he still needed to continue hunting.

These magical rabbits, though aggressive, had a safety distance - about two meters. They would only attack when someone got within two meters of them. This allowed Wu Fan to defeat them one by one without being surrounded. After all, even regular rabbits bite when cornered, let alone these aggressive magical rabbits. Getting hit by them really hurt.

"Haha, weren't you fierce just now? Come on again." With a stick in hand, Wu Fan felt invincible. He quickly killed all the rabbits, completing the village elder's task with extra kills.

Wu Fan's level had also increased from level 1 to level 2, with all stats becoming 2 and health increasing to 110.

"This level up doesn't give much stat increase," Wu Fan complained as he walked back to the village. "And the leveling speed is too slow. I killed so many rabbits and only went up one level. In other games, you can level up 999 times with just one hit. What a lousy game."

"Old village elder, I'm back!" After entering the village, Wu Fan eagerly greeted the elder, hoping to receive generous rewards from him for completing the task.

"Oh, it's you?" The village elder didn't show much reaction when he saw Wu Fan, unlike the first time they met. "Why are you back again? Were you killed by those magical rabbits? Sigh, how useless are today's young people?"

Wu Fan broke out in a cold sweat and said stiffly, "Village elder, who are you looking down on? Who said I was killed by magical rabbits? I've already killed all those rabbits and completed your task. And I even did it with extra kills. Come on, give me my rewards - I want artifacts and divine pets."

Luckily, he had killed those rabbits before coming back. Otherwise, who knows what kind of ridicule he would have received from this old man.

"Killed them all?" The village elder was slightly stunned. He looked at Wu Fan intently and then showed the familiar smile. He grabbed Wu Fan's hand excitedly and said, "I didn't misjudge you. You actually killed those rabbits so quickly. Our village's crops are saved. I represent everyone in our village to thank you."

The village elder held Wu Fan's hand and showered him with praise.

"Village elder, let's not waste time with these empty words. Give me my rewards first. I don't have high demands - just ten or eight artifacts will do. As for pets, five or six divine beasts will be fine. I'm not greedy," Wu Fan quickly stopped the elder's thanks, preferring to get something substantial.

"Artifacts? No," the village elder shook his head.

"What about divine beasts?"

"No," the village elder shook his head again.

"No artifacts or divine beasts? Are you this poor as a village elder?" Wu Fan said angrily. "Other games give artifacts and divine beasts right at the start. What kind of lousy game is this?"
