Chapter 3 - Where memories hide

🌙 Chapter 3 – Where Memories Hide

[Scene 1 – Flashback, Devron Mansion – 16 Years Ago , December 25]

Snow gently dusted the rooftops as the warmth of Christmas lit up the mansion halls. Inside, a little boy hid inside a tall cupboard, arms crossed and lips pouting.

Mrs. Devron – "Krish, sweetheart… Papa will be here soon. Just come out, hmm? Don is waiting to play with you."

Krish (from inside the cupboard) – "No. Papa promised . But he lied Again."

Mrs. Devron sighed and knelt beside the cupboard, resting her hand gently on the door.

Mrs. Devron – "Okay, okay… How about this. We cut the cake together like we always do. Papa will call once the snow clears, I'm sure."

Krish peeked out slightly, his eyes hopeful but still uncertain.

Krish – "He said he'd come… for my birthday..."

His mother smiled warmly, even though her heart cracked just a little more.

That night, Krish stood in the living room, dressed in a little black prince-style coat — a gift from his mother. He watched the snow fall silently through the window.

It was 10 PM.

Still no call.

No dad.

Mrs. Devron approached him holding a small ring and a bunch of balloons left over from the decorations.

Mrs. Devron – "This… was picked out by your papa. He asked me to give it to you. He's stuck at work because of the snow, but he wanted you to know he's proud of you."

It was a lie. A gentle, necessary one. Her eyes sparkled with tears she wouldn't let fall.

Krish looked at the ring, then at her.

Mrs. Devron – "Let's cut the cake now, my prince."

They sang softly. They smiled.

Only one of them truly meant it.

Present – Norwin City, same night

[15 minutes before the blue light appears ]

Zeyan and Krish walk down the quiet street, fresh from sneaking out of the Devron mansion again.

Zeyan, on the other hand, stretched like he just got out of a cage.

> "Ahh... Finally out! The sky, the breeze, freedom!"

"Bro, I feel like a bird who just escaped from a golden cage!"

Krish didn't reply. He was too quiet tonight.

Zeyan walked ahead, sniffing the air.

> "Wait! Is that... roadside coffee?"

"Oh yes! Add a samosa and I swear this will be the best night of my life."

He looked back at Krish and grinned.

> "You ever tried coffee with samosa before?"

"Weird combo, I know. But sometimes weird tastes better."

Krish raised a brow and muttered just loud enough—

> "And sometimes weird ends with a stomachache."

Zeyan shrugged.

> "Anyway, don't ruin my vibe. It took me weeks to convince Don to stop barking at me."

Krish finally looked up, a dry smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

> "He's a dog, Zeyan. "

Then, after a pause—

> "Though… he does guard better than most people I know."

Zeyan blinked.

> "Wait… was that a joke? Did the royal statue just crack?"

Krish simply looked away, acting uninterested.

Zeyan shrugged, laughing.

> "It's fine. I'll treasure that joke forever."

Zeyan mutters > "I still remember when I feared Don more than your father , Who raises a Doberman and lets it babysit a 6-year-old?"

Krish smirks.

The soft wind brushed through the streets as Krish stood beside his sleek black car, watching dozens of colorful balloons float upward. He had just bought them all from an old vendor whose eyes shimmered with tears.

Krish > "One day… like these balloons, I'll be free."

Zeyan – "One day you'll release these balloons and just float up with them. I'll have to report that in the mission file: 'Subject Krish finally achieved flight.'"

Krish didn't reply at first.

Zeyan laughs. "Anyway, tell your billionaire father next time that I want hazard pay for working with you and your emotionally complex pet".

Krish doesn't pay attention to him and watched the balloons disappear into the moonlight .

Something in him shifts.

Zeyan sighs dramatically.

Zeyan > "Ugh, the poetic phase has started. I should've applied to be a pastry chef. Or a librarian. But nooo… here I am, releasing balloons with a sentimental heir."

Krish – "These balloons… my mom used to get them for me every year. Always bright. Always different."

Zeyan – "She knew what you needed."

Krish – "Someday I want to be like them. Free. No legacies. No expectations. Just… me."

Zeyan – "Then don't forget to pack me in your freedom suitcase. I'm tired of feeding Don every morning while you plan your next escape."

Krish (smirking slightly) – "Don's a dog, not a gatekeeper for my heart."

Zeyan – "Could've fooled me. He barks more when I enter your room than when I touch his food bowl."

The two stood quietly.

And then — it happened.

---

[After 15 minutes]

The moon shifted in the sky.

A soft blue glow poured across the street.

And then — everything stopped time , wind , movement . Except Krish.

He stood frozen, eyes wide, as a vision unfolded before him.

A soft blue light glows.

Krish sees —

A long road.

A hospital at a distance.

A girl — standing under the sunlight 🌞, her back to him.

Her voice echoed like a dream:

> "I won't ask you to follow me… because I know you will."

"Even if the world breaks you, even if you don't remember me…"

"You'll still find me."

"Because I know... you can't even breathe without me."

"And when that day comes — we'll meet again."

"I'll wait, even if it takes a lifetime."

"We'll meet again… just follow the light. Even the universe can't keep us apart."

Her last word to him > "Remember this — love always returns."

The light fades. She vanished.

The world resumed.

Zeyan blinks beside him. "Krish? Are you okay? You look like you saw a ghost. Or worse… an emotionally available version of yourself."

Krish – "Let's go home."

Zeyan blinked.

> "What? But we just came!"

Krish didn't explain .

He opened the car door calmly.

> "Why does this always happen to me?"

Zeyan sighed dramatically.

"Wow.One minute, we're escaping like cool rebels… next minute, you turn into Devdas! So I dressed up for this freezing air and flying balloons just to go home early?

What do you think this is — a teaser episode?"

Krish stayed quiet .

> Zeyan – "Honestly, why didn't I just take a job at that roadside coffee stall? At least they serve samosas with purpose."

Krish gave a faint grin.

>Zeyan (mumbling) "I left coffee, samosa, and my sanity for this drama prince."

Zeyan stepped into the car.

He slid into the passenger seat.

> "I swear, if any of Mr. Devron's staff saw us sneaking out, I'm gonna apply for sick leave. Mental health reason: Your son ruined my roadside coffee dreams."

> Krish - "You talk too much."

>Zeyan - "No, I talk just enough to keep myself sane."

The engine hums.

The car drives off into the quiet Norwin night.

But inside Krish's heart — the girl's voice still lingers.

Above, the moon kept watching.
