Synopsis
Once you enter the Anbu, it's as deep as the sea—if you don't act or hide, you won't survive long. During the turbulent era of the Second Ninja World War, Kira is thrust through time and finds himself as a mere expendable in the Anbu of Konoha Village. Every day, he faces the threat of death, knowing that a single misstep could be his last. Kira follows Danzo on dangerous missions, including the fateful one to kill Yahiko, only to be killed by Nagato in turn. But then, the Moon Viewing Arc is activated: Kira gains a unique ability—he can revive once per month, returning to life on the night of the previous full moon after death. Each time he dies, he receives a chance to draw a lottery for new abilities or rewards. In this ruthless world, those who fail to kill Kira might not make him stronger, but anyone who does will certainly grant him a reward. Life in the Anbu is short and brutal, but not without purpose. Kira is determined to keep hiding, keep drawing, and survive long enough to rise from cannon fodder to super shadow.

Chapter 1 - 1

Konoha Village.

An Anbu wearing a fox mask hid in the trees at the street corner, keeping watch on an izakaya in the distance.

What bad luck—transmigrating into the body of an Anbu Chunin, a common ninja named Kira hoshino.

According to intelligence, there might be a Rock Ninja spy inside that izakaya.

As the night wore on, the Anbu Squad Leader appeared behind kira in a flash.

"Fox, there are fewer people in the izakaya this late. Take off your mask and vest, disguise yourself as an ordinary person, and go in to gather intelligence."

The Squad Leader called kira by the code name of his mask.

Kira hoshino took off his mask, removed his Anbu vest, and unfastened his ninja tool pouch, keeping only a kunai hidden on him.

If he found the intelligence, that would be ideal.

If he died inside, that would be the intelligence.

His death would be the warning.

Kira held out his hand to the Squad Leader.

The Squad Leader asked, puzzled, "Hmm? What do you mean?"

"I don't have money to buy sake. You have to reimburse me, right? To get information, I'll need to order the most expensive sake to attract the spy's attention."

The Squad Leader reluctantly took out his wallet and handed over a stack of money.

After kira hoshino put it away, he reached out again.

The Squad Leader handed over another stack. "Don't go too far. It's not a mission where you're guaranteed to die, that's all."

Not guaranteed to die? So there's still a chance of death?

Kira entered the izakaya with heavy steps. A mix of strong alcohol, perfume, and body odor hit him.

He avoided the strong alcohol smell and made his way to a corner table.

"Give me the most expensive sake!"

The owner, a beautiful and voluptuous young woman, perked up at the order.

She brought the sake, her eyes full of charm, and bent over to place the cup in front of kira, momentarily exposing her cleavage.

Voluptuous, but not unfit—there was muscle beneath the softness, a sign of training.

Kira hoshino stayed tense, seeing danger in everything.

The female boss's voice was soft and sweet:

"Ninja-sama, have you returned victorious from the front lines? I can recommend some entertainment to help you shake off the fatigue."

Kira gulped down the entire bottle of sake.

The sake was weak, like watered-down spirits. He pretended to be drunk and high.

"Entertainment? Do you know what I experienced on the front lines? What kind of entertainment can help me relax?"

"Private rooms!" she said excitedly. "There are private rooms on the second floor!"

"Private rooms? This izakaya is old. Is the wooden floor sturdy? If we shake upstairs, will everyone downstairs be eating dust?"

She laughed, covering her mouth. "Ninja-sama, shall we go to the backyard instead? There are private rooms there, and they're not afraid of shaking."

"The backyard is good. How can this old building's second floor satisfy me?"

She placed kira's hand on her slender waist, her chest pressing against his side, and led him toward the back.

Pulling back the curtain, they entered the backyard, where the light dimmed.

The female boss pressed even closer.

The feeling of being tightly embraced by softness was wonderful.

If only he wasn't an Anbu, he could earn money from missions and come here to relax.

Inside a side room in the backyard, the female boss forcefully closed the door.

"Ninja-sama, do you prefer missionary or doggy?"

Kira almost drooled, but deep in his eyes, he was alert.

However, alertness was useless.

With low strength, constant vigilance wouldn't reveal anything.

A kunai pierced kira's lower back!

In the darkness, the enemy, using methods kira couldn't comprehend, infiltrated behind him and launched a sneak attack.

Just as he was about to cry out, his mouth was sealed by the female boss's lips.

He died—the transmigrator died just like that...

The world plunged into darkness.

Kira 'alone s pupils dilated.

In a certain instant, kira enteredwoke up again.

The system has arrived.

[Moon Viewing Arc activated!

The Host has only one chance to revive per month, and after death, will revive on the previous full moon night.

Reward one lottery chance:

1 - B-rank Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique (Entry-level);

2 - Chunin-level Chakra (stackable);

3 - Kunai Stab (Mastery).

Note: If killed twice by the same person, the Host will die directly!]

He returned to the 15th, five days ago.

Inside the Anbu's semi-basement, kira looked at the full moon outside the high window.

Moon Viewing Arc—his golden finger.

One revival chance per month, allowing him to return to the previous full moon night.

There were also three lottery chances, and the rewards were related to his death.

Kira considered his options:

Kunai Stab (Mastery): The person who killed him was skilled with kunai, mastering tricks that made stabs faster and more powerful. Useful, but not essential.

The stackable Chunin-level Chakra was not urgently needed right now.

Night Light chose Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique (Entry-level).

He had Earth Release Chakra, so he could use this technique. Perfect for infiltration, escape, and surprise attacks.

Once you enter Anbu, you're in deep. If you don't act and don't play along, you'll die quickly.

Escaping was impossible; Anbu would hunt him down as a rogue ninja.

In an instant, kira learned Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique.

After forming three hand signs, he placed his hand on the wall, which rippled like water under the effect of chakra.

His hand disappeared into the wall, and after pulling it out, the wall returned to normal.

He could now move quickly underground, leaving no trace on the surface.

Not bad—he finally learned a Ninjutsu.

[Host Status:

Chakra: Chunin-level.

Chakra Nature: Earth.

Ninjutsu: Basic Three Body Technique, Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique.

Taijutsu: Basic Taijutsu (Chunin-level), Basic Kunai Throwing Technique (Chunin-level).

Other: None]

He was truly cannon fodder, so unremarkable it was almost invisible.

Taijutsu didn't require much chakra, and his chakra was not abundant, making him a Taijutsu-type Chunin focused on basic training.

At this time, Root had not yet been established. Danzo, as Hiruzen Sarutobi's confidant, managed Anbu on Hiruzen's behalf.

A month ago, Danzo led Anbu against the Third Raikage in the Land of Hot Water, suffering heavy casualties. More than half of Anbu were lost, and Danzo escaped back to Konoha alone.

Anbu urgently expanded recruitment, allowing kira's original body to join.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

The Squad Leader entered.

"Fox, follow me. We're staking out an izakaya."

The Squad Leader didn't know kira had already heard these exact words a second time.

Kira silently packed his ninja tools.

This month's death count was already used up; he absolutely could not die again.

If he died again, even the system couldn't save him.
