Chapter 2: The Last Human (3)

—————————

"THERE'S NOTHING FREE IN THIS WORLD, RIGHT?" Zephir grunted, a fresh wave of pain washing over him. "URGH...!" Mercedes, with a graceful sweep of her hand, sent a powerful surge of energy towards Zephir, causing him to stumble and fall to his knees. "AND..."

"THERE'S ANOTHER ONE, A GOD WHO REQUESTED STRONGLY FOR YOUR REVIVAL." Zephir looked up, his eyes narrowed. "...?" A blinding flash of golden light erupted around him, and he felt himself being pulled once more.

Zephir found himself in a new, fiery landscape, surrounded by the remnants of a fierce battle. He looked up, his eyes blazing with fury. "UNTIL WHEN AM I SUPPOSED TO! ASK THE PERSON IN CHARGE TO COME OUT HERE!" A terrified angel, similar to Mercedes, pleaded, "P-please stop! The thing you requested is being processed..." But Zephir was beyond reason. "SHUT UP!! I, THE LORD OF DEMONS, WHO DESTROYED 10..."

...WORLDS, IS GETTING KILLED BECAUSE OF A MERE HUMAN? DON'T JOKE WITH ME! THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! HURRY UP AND MAKE IT SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! I'LL PAY THE PRICE! NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT COSTS!!" Zephir raged, his face contorted in a mask of fury. He saw a vision of Masin Tartarus, still alive, still raging. Mercedes, observing him, thought, "WHAT IS THAT NUTCASE DOING?"

Mercedes continued, "DEMON LORD, TARTAROS-NIM... IS THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION. HE HAS DESTROYED 10 WORLDS, INCLUDING YOURS. HIS GOAL IS TO DESTROY ALL THE WORLDS AND... HE HAS NEVER LOST A FIGHT, HE IS A WARRIOR WHO ALWAYS WINS."

"BUT BECAUSE OF YOU, THAT RECORD WAS BROKEN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? HIS PRIDE IS TERRIBLY HURT." Zephir stared, dumbfounded. "WHAT... FOR THAT REASON? THAT CRAZY ASSHOLE...!" He couldn't believe it. All his suffering, all the destruction, just because he had hurt a demon lord's pride. "HE WANTS A REMATCH WITH YOU IN..."

...ORDER TO KEEP HIS RECORD. WHAT DO YOU THINK, ZEPHIR?" Mercedes asked, her gaze fixed on him. Zephir, still reeling from the revelation, remained silent, his mind racing.

"HA... IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION? HE WANTS TO DIE, SO I SHALL KILL HIM." Zephir declared, a grim determination in his eyes. His fist glowed with a renewed blue energy, ready to strike.

A blinding flash of light erupted, and Mercedes' voice echoed, "THE TRANSFER WILL BEGIN. THE TRANSFER POINT IS RANDOM, HOWEVER YOU WILL BE SENT TO A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN COLLECT ENOUGH POWER. AS WELL AS THE PRESENT THAT THE GODS HAVE SENT TO SUPPORT YOU AS A RETURN PRIVILEGE. YOU CAN CHECK THE BENEFIT YOU HAVE RECEIVED AS SOON AS YOUR RETURN." Zephir stood amidst a swirling vortex of golden light, his fate now in the hands of the gods.

"EVEN IF THE GODS HAVE GIVEN ME A CHANCE, I WILL USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE REVENGE. NOT ONLY HIM, DEMON LORD, TARTAROS, BUT ALL THE GODS WHO TREATED US LIKE SHIT." Zephir vowed, his eyes burning with a fierce resolve. "THE COORDINATES HAVE BEEN CREATED. THE LAST APPROVAL FOR THE TIME TRAVEL..."

...COMPLETED. THEN, I WISH YOU LUCK, ZEPHIR. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUN YOU WILL BE GIVING US." Mercedes said, a faint smile playing on her lips. A powerful surge of green light enveloped Zephir, and he felt himself being pulled into the unknown.

The green light intensified, and Zephir felt himself being pulled through a swirling vortex of energy, a sensation both disorienting and exhilarating. He was traveling through time, back to a point where he could change everything.

Zephir heard voices, faint at first, then growing clearer. "HY-HYUNG-NIM!" "HE'S NOT BREATHING THOUGH?" "WE'RE FUCKED!" The voices were filled with panic and despair, a stark contrast to the serene Pantheon he had just left.

"SHUT UP!" a gruff voice commanded. "OI, WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP YOU FUCKING NEWCOMER!!" Zephir's eyes snapped open, a jolt of pain shooting through his head. He was back.

Zephir blinked, water dripping from his face. He was surrounded by a group of rough-looking men, their faces etched with concern. "HUH...? OH, HE OPENED HIS EYES! I TOLD YOU HE'S NOT DEAD!" Zephir looked around, his mind still hazy.

"OH? WHO IS THAT? I FEEL LIKE I'VE SEEN THEM BEFORE..." Zephir thought, looking at the faces around him. Then his eyes landed on a familiar mark, a cross tattooed on one of the men's hands. "...!!! THAT MARK IS..."

"AH... I REMEMBER." Zephir chuckled, a bitter laugh. "UHH HUK HAA..." One of the men asked, "HYUNGNIM, WHY IS THIS BASTARD LAUGHING?" Zephir thought, "EVEN IF I WENT BACK 10 YEARS IN THE PAST, TO WHEN I WAS 20 YEARS OLD... I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DAYS OF SLAVERY IN THE TEMPLE." He looked at his hands, no longer the hands of a warrior, but of a slave.

"WHAT'S GOIN' ON OVER THERE?" a voice boomed. "AH, IT'S NOTHING, CHIEF-" another replied. "THE BREAK IS OVER! EVERYONE GO BACK TO YOUR PLACES!" "YEEESSSS~" Zephir watched as the men dispersed, a sense of dread washing over him. "BASTARD."

"THE FUCK WAS THAT?" Zephir muttered, his mind still trying to process everything. "THIS FUCK... YOU JUST..." "HYUNGNIM, LET'S GO!" Zephir was pulled along, his thoughts a whirlwind. "I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ALL THIS STUFF." He looked at the man who had pulled him, a faint smile on his face. "Thank you sir."

"A-ajusshi, thank you for covering me up." a small voice said. Zephir looked at the child, bewildered. "WHO IS SHE AGAIN? I CAN'T REMEMBER ALL THE DETAILS FROM 10 YEARS AGO. AH... IT'LL BE A PAIN TO ADAPT." He sighed, realizing the monumental task ahead of him.

"...AH, RIGHT. THE REVIVAL PRIVILEGE." Zephir remembered Mercedes' words. "IF YOU SAY OPEN PRIVILEGE, YOU CAN USE IT ANYTIME." He looked at his hand, a faint glow appearing. "SHE SAID THAT RIGHT. LET'S SEE."

"OPEN PRIVILEGE." Zephir whispered, and a golden light enveloped him, swirling around him like a protective aura.

The golden light pulsed around Zephir, and he felt a surge of power. "...!! WAIT... THIS IS... THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY." He looked at his hands, the golden light emanating from them, a new power at his command.

"I CAN DO STUFF LIKE THIS TOO?" Zephir thought, a smirk playing on his lips. The golden light enveloped him completely, and he knew, with absolute certainty, that his second chance had truly begun. He was back, and this time, he would change everything.
