Chapter 15 - chapter 15

New Evidence, New Beginnings

The early morning sun bathed Oakridge City in a soft golden glow, its light catching on the polished cars and towering buildings that lined the affluent neighborhoods. Elena stepped out of the mansion gates dressed elegantly in a tailored cream blouse, high-waisted slacks, and a light blazer. Her dark sunglasses shielded her sharp eyes as she waited for Oliver to bring the car around.

As she was sitting quietly in the car scrolling through her tablet, a familiar person inside a car caught her attention. Her lips curved slightly in curiosity. Slowly, Julia Moore stepped out of the passenger seat of Derrick Klein's gaudy sports car, the nouveau riche man from Club Seraph.

Julia's hair was disheveled, her makeup smeared, and she awkwardly adjusted her dress as she stumbled onto the sidewalk. Derrick leaned across the driver's side, saying something with a smirk, causing Julia to giggle foolishly before waving him off.

Elena's gaze sharpened, her phone subtly rising in her hand. She zoomed in and pressed record, capturing the exchange with a neutral expression. Julia glanced around quickly before hurrying into the Moore estate, unaware of the watchful eyes tracking her every movement.

Elena chuckled quietly. "The perfect little Moore just keeps gifting me leverage," she murmured, saving the video in a hidden folder labeled Insurance.

Oliver asked "To the business district, Madam?"

"Yes, and make sure we take the inner-city route," Elena said with a thoughtful smile. "I want to soak in the energy today."

---

Traffic moved briskly, and Elena glanced out at the fast-paced city life as they neared the heart of Oakridge's commercial hub. Her destination was Solara Towers, a 4-story building where an ambitious yet struggling tech company, Stratus Innovations, had its main office.

The owner, Adrian Walker, had been on Elena's radar for weeks. Stratus Innovations specialized in cloud-based business software and AI integrations but had hit a financial rough patch due to financial issues and aggressive market competition. Elena had reviewed the reports personally...Adrian was desperate, entertaining offers from predatory investors, and today, she was about to make her move.

Oliver parked by the lobby entrance, and Elena stepped out, her heels clicking confidently on the marble floors as she made her way inside.

Adrian was already waiting in a sleek glass conference room, his appearance slightly stressed but sharp. Early thirties, ambitious, and now financially cornered. He stood quickly, offering his hand.

"Elena Hart," she introduced with a polite smile, shaking his hand firmly. "It's good to finally meet in person."

"Likewise," Adrian replied, masking his nervousness. "Please, have a seat. Can I get you a coffee?"

"Black, no sugar," Elena said, settling in. "Let's get straight to business."

Over the next hour, they delved deep into the company's books, market projections, and strategic weaknesses. Elena's analytical mind picked through Adrian's defenses like a scalpel, exposing every flaw, every missed opportunity, and every misstep.

"You have great technology, Adrian," she said coolly. "But you don't have the right strategy or backing. I can give you both."

Adrian leaned back, his jaw tight. "I've had offers. Investors willing to throw cash in exchange for heavy equity."

"Vultures," Elena interrupted. "They'll gut your company and sell it in pieces. I'm offering a lifeline—reasonable capital, experienced management input, and a path to market stability. In return, I want fifty-one percent ownership and full executive control."

Adrian hesitated, fingers drumming on the table. "That's… control over my company."

"That's salvation," Elena countered, her voice crisp but not unkind. "You walk away with your name intact, your vision alive, and the company thriving in six months. Or… you can roll the dice with sharks who'll leave you with nothing but a failed legacy."

Adrian sighed heavily. "I'll need to see your proposal in writing."

"It's in your inbox," Elena replied smoothly, nodding toward his laptop. "Review it. We can finalize things by in 3 days."

As Adrian opened his laptop, his assistant knocked, peeking in. "Mr. Walker, there's someone from Baines Capital here for the noon appointment."

Adrian grimaced, muttering a curse under his breath.

Elena stood gracefully, gathering her documents. "Take your time, Adrian, but don't take too long. Offers don't linger in Oakridge."

Adrian stood as well, conceding with a slight smile. "Understood."

---

Back in her car, Elena checked her phone. Julia's scandalous video sat safely in her gallery, and her email pinged with Adrian's tentative follow-up. Everything was aligning, and the pieces of her revenge and survival were sliding into place.

"Oliver, take me to Café Leona," Elena said. "I think I've earned a reward."

"Yes, Madam," Oliver replied, amused by her good mood.

Elena stared out the window, her confidence unwavering. Every day she grew stronger, smarter, and more dangerous. The Moore family wouldn't know what hit them, and neither would the greedy parasites trying to prey on Adrian's company.

In this world of power plays and silent wars, Elena had risen from the ashes. And this time, she was playing to win.
