Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: AT THE DEMON CASTLE

"Welcome to the demon castle; the Demon Lord has been waiting for you this way, miss," says another stranger who just came out of the castle.

(Enough already. Why do these people like to play suspense-suspense so much) "Sure, take me to the demon lord."

[The stranger, who seems like a butler, shows his way to the room big enough, well-furnished, with walls decorated in the same theme of the castle, i.e., black and blue. The demon lord, enjoying his favorite rosemary tea, invites Ella to join him.]

"Sit down and make yourself comfortable; the lunch will be served in a few minutes. I hope you have a good appetite," said the demon lord wanting to have a long conversation over lunch.

"Ah, yes" (well, whatever till I am getting an excellent and free lunch, but the demon lord's expression and way of talking sure remind me of someone).

"So, let's get straight to the topic. Do you know about the riots happening?" asked the demon lord.

"Yeah, they are demanding your resignation."

"Good, you know that much. Have you got your results from the demon's administration yet?"

"You mean the fruit basket-shaped building?"

"That's the crown-shaped, but whatever works for you, so did you get it yet?"

"No"

"Hmm, I have it here [demon lord handing the letter to Ella]. Your sins outranked mine. You know what that means, right?" asks the demon lord doubtfully.

"Maybe" (Damm, I should have listened to what that insect said).

"That means you will be the next demon lord," says the demon lord sighing.

"Huhhhhhh."

[There is evident confusion on Ella's face, and the demon lord sighs and nods to make Ella believe in the current situation. After 20 mins of continuously globing down on the food, Ella finally became stable enough to comprehend the situation.]

"Then why did you bring me here? To announce me to be the next demon lord?" (I doubt it, though).

"No, the time has not come for you yet."

(What do you mean not yet) "Then what are you going to do about the riots?"

"How about you disappear for some time?"

"Disappear!!"

"Yeah," says the demon lord, passing Ella an envelope.

(What is this envelope, hmm, this symbol of an angel waiting, it's from HEAVEN.)

[Contents of the letter: As per the demon lord's wish, you are to reincarnate till your time comes to take the position of the next demon lord. If you oppose this order, you may file an appeal in heaven's court.

P.S. Don't worry; even if you reincarnate, your position will remain the same, i.e., the next-in-line demon lord.]

"I want to file an appeal in heaven's court; I don't want to take the hassle of being born again. Like I finally decided to live peacefully, do you think changing one's personality is easy? It would be a disaster if I were to be born again."

"You don't want to do that; believe me, you know how the circumstances are right now, right? A war that could break out any minute if the situation got any worse than it already is, and you being the demon Lord, will strike the chances of war to the maximum. And you want peace, right? You are not going to get any peace in hell either way. So the best thing is to get reincarnated, and I will make sure that you reincarnate in someplace where you can find your peace, and you can even get your mind stable there," says the demon lord to convince Ella to get reincarnated.

"You sure I am gonna get peace when I reincarnate? I do not doubt you (well, a demon lord promising to give peace is something to question but still, I am not doubting). I am just asking."

"Yes, you will. It's a deal," says the demon lord assuringly.

"And what makes you think that I will believe you? I am still not doubting, just looking for some clarifications."

"You will have to if you want to get your peace."

"Fine, I will get reincarnated. But for how long?"

"Till the situation is resolved. Since the timeline of hell is different from heaven and the human world, it might take some time."

"Ok, I see. Then when will I get reincarnated?"

"How about right now? Let's go to heaven," says the demon lord trying to sip from the cup of his rosemary tea that was already completed some minutes ago.

[Seeing the demon lord getting up, Ella wipes her face because, during the lengthy conversation, all she has done is eat, and they both get ready to leave. In heaven...]

"AHHH, my eyes, so bright, my eyes some few minutes more, and I will go blind."[covering the eyes with her hands]

"Well, it's heaven after all," says the demon lord smirking so scary that all the angels loitering there ran away. "Come on now, let's head to god."

"Arghhhh, yes." [still, eyes half-closed, looking down and following the demon lord's feet]

[After 3 minutes of a walk, they reached heaven's tower where the god was resting, Ella was finally able to open her eyes fully. She saw a few angels hiding behind the pillars as they walked towards the high end of the tower. Meanwhile, the demon lord curses the god and heaven's rules: "No one can use the elevator except the one carrying heavy stuff," as he always has to climb stairs to reach the high end of the tower to meet the god.]

"You can at least make escalators instead of these stairs," says the demon lord pointing at the god relaxing on a sofa.

"What am I supposed to do? All angels have wings; these stairs are not used at all. You are the only one who comes to visit me." replies the god standing up to greet them.

"Very well, then the next time I come, I get to use the elevator, or you come to meet me in hell," argues the demon lord.

"I will make sure by the next time you come, the stairs will be converted into escalators." says the god does not want the demon lord to break heaven's rules or to go to hell. "So, you are the one who is getting reincarnated."
