Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 The Ultimate Red

A man flew quickly through the sky, his wings beating like those of a giant dragon, creating powerful wind pressure as they moved.

This person, who looked about eighteen or nineteen, was flying toward the empire's outer borders, covered in blood.

"Huff... huff... huff..."

Gasping for breath, the man maintained an incredibly fast speed as he flew forward.

The black runes around his neck, resembling a decorative collar, had almost all turned transparent, leaving only faint dark traces visible, which was clearly not a good sign.

This showed that his Rune Bond was nearing exhaustion, and he had pursuers on his tail.

"Third Wing Pillar·Dimension Demon·Wing Spread!"

Just as the man slowed down due to the lack of runes, a female voice echoed from the distant sky...

The man only had time to turn his head but lacked the energy to dodge the fragments that flew from the transparent wings behind the voice.

The fragments, like countless shards of broken glass, sliced through his body, then transformed into transparent chains that connected his body to the very fabric of space, binding him in a spread-eagle position in the sky.

"Ha... ha..."

"Huff... huff..."

Their breathing synchronized as both worked to regain their strength.

Both the man and the woman hovering opposite him had concentric rings of densely packed runes around their necks, indicating they had the same profession: a role created by Yila, exclusive to the empire—

Governor

But at this moment, the man's runes had nearly all turned transparent, while the woman's runes were still half black...

"Huff... let me go, Heidlin."

The man, recovering his strength, spoke, but the woman binding him looked very tense.

She was seriously preparing for battle, as if she were the one at a disadvantage now.

"That's impossible, Yila sir..."

The woman, called Heidlin, said, having no choice but to deal seriously with the bound Yila before her, as a fellow Governor.

"This is Her Majesty the Empress's order, Yila sir. You should return to the empire..."

Heidlin said, following the command she had been given to bring Yila back.

"Use your brain, how could her handwriting be so ugly?!"

Yila Elkaras said, his face full of emotion, "If she wrote such ugly letters, her father would crawl out of his grave to scold her."

"..."

Heidlin remained silent for a while before persuading him, "Teacher, even if you go back, no one can do anything to you... just explain clearly."

*This was once her student, but she had to first follow the Empress's orders... which was rare in the empire.*

*Yila had never told anyone he was not a native of this world but a transmigrator from Blue Star.*

*In a world filled with Magic, magical power, demon crystals, and monsters, Yila became a glorious mage, then for some reasons, a great mage of considerable renown.*

*And for some other reasons, he became the world's first Governor, or rather...*

*At that time, he was a Governor and the current Empress's teacher, hence the profession was named Governor.*

*Many things happened afterward, including shifting the war situation with the demon clan, spreading the Governor profession, and using his past life's wisdom to achieve many advancements in this world, except for trying to explode the livelihood and basic tech tree.*

*It was normal for some of Yila's ideas to anger the nobles because some of his thoughts from a beautiful era clashed with those of the nobles.*

*However, his Yila Faction was one of the largest noble factions, so he thought he had reached an understanding with Duke Caligula of the Noble Faction...*

*But that turned out not to be the case.*

"It probably wasn't Caligula... that idiot, although my enemy, wouldn't do something that might anger me. It must have been some of his foolish subordinate nobles."

*Yila, bound by chains, muttered softly, confused by this turn of events... tearing apart relations wouldn't benefit either side.*

"If only Yose were still alive, Isabella is still too naive..."

Yila sighed.

"Sir Yila, even if you are Her Majesty's teacher, it's not right to say that..."

Heidlin said, noticing something, and added, "You mentioned that using monster mana as a Governor has a cost, leading to emotional instability and mutation, so keeping calm is crucial."

Her words were clear; she wanted Yila to calm down.

"Do you know how many hours I work each day?"

Yila asked...

Heidlin knew. About twenty hours.

But Yila didn't give her a chance to respond and immediately continued:

"If I obediently return to the empire, it will be tough for me, Her Majesty, and the non-radical nobles..."

Heidlin didn't quite understand this point; she couldn't grasp the concepts of compromise and benefit exchange... thus failing to comprehend the complex relationship between the Yila Faction and the Noble Faction.

"Look, so many of my students chased me, most just pretending until they exhausted me and gave up, but you chased me all the way here, didn't you?"

Yila said helplessly.

...

*Anyway, you won't die...*

*Thinking this, Heidlin remained silent for a long time before finally saying, "But that's not a reason for you to escape, Yila sir. Rebellion is wrong no matter what."*

"Believe it or not, quite the opposite..."

Yila said softly, lowering his head, and Heidlin began to sense that something was off.

There was an odd sulfur smell in Yila's voice that Heidlin detected.

"It was the empire that betrayed me."

Yila said this calmly, looking up with eyes like those of a dragon, his neck's runes turning from black and transparent to an extreme, blood-red hue.

"First Wing Pillar·Crimson Dragon·Wing Shatter!"

"..."

"..."

"..."

As the calm voice resounded, the monster mana (magic power) lodged in the Governor's spine activated, partially consuming the World Spell runes on the neck's Rune Bond. This linked to the World Tree, tricking it into providing a huge amount of magic power temporarily.

If the command was Wing Spread, this power would gently unfold the Governor's wings.

But if the command was Wing Shatter, the power would be used up all at once in executing an extreme ultimate move, shattering the wings entirely, making them unusable.

"Sir Yila! Your body can't..."

Heidlin shouted, but her words were cut short, as the entire border garrison witnessed the sky above the empire's border turn an intense, vivid red in the next moment.

It felt like hundreds of suns appeared simultaneously in the sky over the empire's border.
