After finishing his speech the instructor for the first trial left the place , the 20 genin who remained where surprise because they were in the middle of nowhere , and now had no instructor to give them order.
After a minute, the genin began to consider what to do, whether they should follow the teacher or return to the area where they began the trial.
But, before they could do anything, a man emerged from the woods and appeared in front of them.
The men introduced himself as the instructors for the second trial, and he also told the genin to stay quiet since he had crucial information for them.
To make sure that no one would disturb him , he said to the genin that the if someone speak he will be disqualified
After intimidating the genin, the new instructor began talking about the second trial,
"as you can see we are now in the middle of a forest, for this second trial you will not be allowed to leave this forest, well anyway as for the rules, so all of you will get a piece of metal in it will be written a random between 1 and 10 to pass this trial you will have to get another piece of metal with the same number, as for the methods to get this number there are two, the first would be to take that from other teams , the second would be to search through the forest , as we have put a few of this throughout the forest ".
This trial will take three days, and you will only be permitted to complete it on the third day. To complete it, you will need to bring two pieces of metal with the same number, also the trial will begin shortly.
As the teacher finished speaking, a few men emerged from the woods, "each team will be led by a single individual to a specific location in the forest, and they will also inform you when the trial begins."
After everyone has finished chatting, each team approached the ninja who will led them. After a few minutes, each of the men in the administration team jumps in a different direction followed by the assign team.
Team E jumped from tree to tree for a while until the instructor stopped them and told them to wait. After a few minutes, he told them that the second trial had begun before departing into the jungle.
Zato, Iwame, and Okura were exhausted after the first trial, so their goal was to first create a camp where they could rest in peace.
As they walked through the forest, each of them looked at their peace of metal, Zato had the number 5, Iwame had the number 2, and Okura had the number 9.
After an hour of searching, team E finally found a good place where they could settle down, it was a big and tall tree, they climbed the tree and saw that there is a nice formation of branches which could really help them in being discreet, and that is how they spent the next few hours changing the layout of some branches and finally finished their camp by the end of the day when the sun was setting.
After accomplishing so much in one day, all three of them were exhausted and thought that it would be best if they simply rested for the night.
While team E was performing well, team Y's condition was not so favorable because they had lost one of its members during the first trial, leaving them with only Togi and Mata, who had the numbers 1 and 10.
Being two instead of three is already a significant disadvantage; it would be extremely difficult for them to win a 3v2; the best chance for them to win would be to locate their required number in the forest or find a team of two and win the battle.
The strategy for Team Y is to travel through the forest on the first day and perhaps find their required number.
Surely, every team is exhausted, which means they will rest on the first day, which is why searching through the forest on the first day would be less risky than on the following days; moreover, the chances of discovering a number are higher in the beginning.
And that is precisely why team Y is currently wandering through the forest in search of any numbers, even though the chances of finding a team of three are slim, there is still a chance, which is why Togi and Mata are cautious when jumping from tree to tree, always looking around.
Fortunately for them, after a few hours they discovered two pieces of metal with the numbers 4 and 6 written on them; if they locate team E, they can offer them these numbers if they need them, and maybe even obtain their needed numbers in exchange if they had them.
But for the time being, they will have to put their search on hold because it was already dark and they couldn't see clearly, and utilizing a source of light would be too risky for them.
Fortunately, they discovered a little cave; they explored it and discovered that no one was living inside; it was also not very deep, so they closed the entrance with mud and stones thanks to Togi earth release.
Team Y and Team E had their own plans and weren't going to fight among themselves, but what about the other team? They had their own plans and methods. Although no fights happened on the first day, this will undoubtedly change in the coming days if they want to qualify for the next and final trial.

here some info about Earth release and other stuff ( from wiki )
Earth Release encompasses any earthen material, from dirt to stone to clay, and in fact often entails changing one to another. For most Earth Release jutsu, users place their hands on the ground and use their chakra to alter its form. Less commonly, users create earth within their bodies, which they eject from their mouth.Simpler applications of Earth Release involve changing the terrain around the user. Offensively, Earth Release can be clumped together for use as a projectile or broken up to create hazards for enemies. Targets can be trapped by creating a rock dome around them or a muddy pit that they sink into. Defensively, earth can be raised around the user as a fortification against attack, Earth-Style Wall being one of the more common options. Alternatively, Earth Release users can burrow underground in order to escape harm and, indeed, combat.
Earth Release is common among ninja of Iwagakure, who make varied applications of it: Deidara's Explosive Clay is partly-earth based, meaning it can be countered in the same way as Earth Release; Ōnoki, by touching targets, can make them too heavy to move or so light that they can fly; Akatsuchi creates Rock Golems to fight alongside himself and his allies; Kitsuchi uses a mountain's worth of earth to crush targets. During the Third Shinobi World War, Obito Uchiha was believed to be killed because of an Iwa-nin's cave-in, a favourite tactic of the village's ninja.
Earth Release is naturally strong against Water Release and weak against Lightning Release; in Kakashi Retsuden, this weakness is explained to be because impurities in the earth naturally conduct electricity. In the same novel, this weakness can be negated if the Earth Release is made of quartz, but this is so difficult to do as to be thought impossible. When Earth Release is combined with other natures, certain kekkei genkai are produced: earth and water make Wood Release; earth and fire make Lava Release; earth and wind are suggested to make Magnet Release; earth and lightning are suggested to make Explosion Release; earth is suggested to have some role in Crystal Release; in Akatsuki Hiden, earth and water also make Mud Release. The combination of earth, wind, and fire produces the kekkei tōta, Dust Release.
