The next day
Inside one of the temporary tents built up specifically for the genin taking part in the chunin test.
Togi and Okura are both resting after exhausting their stamina the day before.
Yesterday, after successfully completing the second trial, Togi, Okura, and six other genin were required to follow another instructor into the forest and continue to run for many hours until arriving at a small town near where their camp was located.
When they arrived, it was already night, and the teacher told them that they would be informed about the third trial the following day as well as that they might rest in the tents that had been put up for them.
Togi and Okura had been awake for some time but chose to converse before heading out. During this discussion, Togi revealed how Mata and him were ambushed, as well as how Mata turned herself to fight the team from Kumo and provided enough time to allow Togi to leave. Okura informed him how their squad defeated a Konoha team. She also revealed that two other members of her team were injured and couldn't qualify to the next trial.
Meanwhile, in the largest tent in the camp's center,
Inside the largest tent, an oval table with three wooden chairs is set up, with an important person on each chair, but the three individuals did not chat as normal people would, two of them looking at each other, while anybody entering the room would immediately see that the mood was quite tense.
In order to quell the atmosphere, the Hokage chose to speak first.
"The second trial is concluded; the third trial will begin soon; do you want to know who qualified for the third trial?" remarked the Hokage.
"I'd like to know," the Raikage responded.
"As you requested, I will begin with Konoha genin, so Umekuro Aburame, Onakite Uchiha, and Doki Sarutobi are the Konoha genin who qualified." Togi Haishori and Okura Shrihana are the Iwa individuals who qualified.
Inakami and Imagome are Kumo genin who qualified for the third trial. Finally, only Tabe qualified from Suna, making a total of eight genin qualified for the third trial, three from Konoha, two from Iwa, two from Kumo, and one from Suna," remarked the third Hokage.
"What about the third trial? Can we learn out which actions the genin needs to do to qualify?" said Tsuchikage.
"The third trial will be 1v1, with only a few simple rules for each fight," the Hokage explained.
"What about the location of the fight?" inquired the Raikage.
"Our team will soon finish building an arena with their earth jutsu, so the fight will take place in it," the Hokage explained.
"Creating an arena for just a few fights isn't it useless," remarked Tsuchikage.
"The residents of the nearby city will come to see the Chunin exam, which is why we are building this arena."
"Is it a good idea to let in so many civilians?" asks the Raikage.
"We will increase the number of ninja patrolling during the third trial so it should be fine," said the third Hokage.
A few hours later
All of the genin had been called by their instructor, and soon they were all standing in front of him.
"Now that you're all here, we can start explaining," the instructor added.
"To put it straightforwardly, during the third trial, you will fight each other in a 1v1 fight until only one of you is left, therefore if you have any questions, please let them know," the teacher explained.
"Where would the fight take place?" asked a Konoha genin.
"In a specially prepared arena," the teacher said.
"When will the third trial start?" inquires a Kumo genin.
"The third trial will begin tomorrow morning," the teacher said.
"Are the genin we'll fight completely random, for example, is it possible for a genin from Konoha to fight another genin from Konoha?" asks a Konoha genin.
"I'm not sure, you should ask the Hokage if you want a response," the teacher said.
The teacher proceeded to answer the genin's questions until no one else had any more, at a certain point he told the genin to spend the rest of the day , anyhow they wanted, and he left to complete other tasks.
Meanwhile, the genin were at a loss about what to do. Some began training, some returned to their tents to relax, while yet others visited the location.
Togi and Okura were the ones who chose to go visit the place. Even though the camp was small, there were still many things to investigate, such as attempting to identify where the arena was being built.
Unfortunately for the two Iwa genin, they did not find where the arena was being built; hiding something like this would undoubtedly be difficult, which is why Okura and Togi believed after some time that the arena was most likely being built somewhere else.
Despite this, they are already familiar with the layout of the camp owing to all of their searches. For example, in the heart of the camp is a large tent where the most important individuals are placed, and near to this large tent are other smaller tents for common ninja.
After spending so much time looking for the arena, Togi and Okura thought it would be best if they returned to their tent; tomorrow they would need to be at their best, which is why they will have to go to bed early.
Meanwhile, in the forest where the second trial took place
"We've found almost all of the missing genin, but one is still missing," a ninja stated.
"Continue your search; I don't want to be the one who has to inform the Hokage about one of the genin's disappearance," urged another ninja.
"Enough talking, let's keep looking," replied another ninja.
"Yes," each ninja said.

During the Warring States Period, ninja were organised into small mercenary clans that knew nothing but battle. The two strongest of these clans were the Senju and the Uchiha, who had warred against each other for their entire histories. Eventually, intending to end the constant bloodshed, Hashirama Senju used his position as leader of his clan to broker a truce with the Uchiha clan through their leader, his childhood friend Madara Uchiha. Thus the Senju, the Uchiha, and their respective affiliated clans formed the first shinobi village: Konohagakure — a name invented by Madara himself. Other villages would soon start forming, following Konoha's example and essentially ending the Warring States Period.

Hashirama used his Wood Release abilities to produce much of the village's infrastructure. This ability and his ideals were two of the reasons he was chosen to become the village's leader: the Hokage. Madara, however, feared that the Senju would oppress his clan and attempted to gather support to overthrow Hashirama. No Uchiha would help, forcing him to take on Hashirama by himself. Madara was ultimately defeated at what would be called the Valley of the End and he was believed to have died. As a result of the battle, Konoha came into possession of the Nine-Tails. To contain its enormous power, the village began its trend of sealing the beast within the Uzumaki, a clan that the Senju and thus the rest of Konoha had close ties with.
The First Three World Wars
At some point, Hashirama came to bind most of the tailed beasts and sold them to other villages during the First Shinobi World War, to promote peace and tranquility. However, this peace was short-lived. Hashirama died during the war, shortly after the village began to flourish, and the mantle of Hokage was passed onto his brother, Tobirama Senju, who became the Second Hokage. Tobirama would later be killed by Kinkaku during the same war, but appointed Hiruzen Sarutobi as Third Hokage shortly before his death. Years later, during the Second Shinobi World War, Hiruzen led Konoha's forces against Iwa and Suna, using Amegakure as their battleground. Ame's leader, Hanzō, also fought Konoha a number of times, and during one of these battles gave Hiruzen's students - Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru - the title of Sannin. During the Third Shinobi World War, Konoha fought the ninja of Iwagakure across Kusagakure. Konoha was almost defeated, but Minato Namikaze and his team helped turn the war back in their favour.
