Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A signal

Felix walked over to the creatures that rested in two large containers, they were strung with tubes and wires that constantly read their brain waves and body signals. The room was a square shape with grey walls that were made of iron and the room was also well lit. The room provided the two large container, two table to the side and a chair, monitor screens were also place on the walls above the table and a cupboard was also close by. Felix sauntered to the chair and pulled it in front of the containers before sitting down and inspecting the creatures. After sitting there about for a minute doing nothing, but staring at the creatures and the bubbles that floated. Felix then stood and went over to the table pressing a button, the large creature that was said to be dead ascended from its tube. A claw looking object held the creature as it monitored its movements to one of the table's, the creature was laid down and then a few metal bindings came over its body holding it firmly in place. Felix felt so small comparing his size the alien creatures. He pulled out a drawer placing gloves over his hands and a mask on his face before picking up a stencil knife. Felix slowly placed the stencil knife above the creature's chest and then made a small cut, but surprisingly the knife wasn't able to penetrate the skin, he then started stabbing the creature but the knife wasn't able to make a cut or even leave a small scratch.

Felix placed the knives to the side and took up something resembling a gun, and then he pressed a button and a thin looking blue flame emitted from it. He held it to the creatures chest again to cut through its skin, but it still didn't work. Felix then tried other methods to get what he was looking for and soon the creature's skin slowly started separating as Felix cut a centimeter deep each time. Felix put on some more safety gear and took the saliva of the creature knowing it was toxic and then mixed it with other chemicals in his lab. He then made a few attempts and on the fifth try he succeeded. Felix placed the mixture on the creature's chest that slowly burnt away and then Felix used the laser gun he had. Only the soft sounds of separating flesh and the clashing of equipments and tools of Felix's worked filled the empty air. After cutting for about forty minutes he finally reached in the creature's chest, he used his machines to receive something that he saw glowing. When the machine came from the creature's chest it was melting as the acid in the creature's body was very powerful.

Felix looked at the orb in awe captivated by it as it was his first time seeing something so phenomenal and mesmerizing as he removed his glasses for a better look, he slowly raised his hands to the orb and then held it, caressing it with his thumbs. He felt nothing and concluded that it was safe. But then his admiration was cut short as the light began to flicker and then there was no power, but it came back after a few seconds. Felix wondered how a black out was possible due to them having multiple back up generators. Felix would have to leave studying the orb for another day since he wanted to know what caused a black out. Felix shifted and as his eyes went over the room his eyes landed on the second creature in it's tank and it's eyes were now open and staring at Felix as if it was looking for his soul. Felix was taken aback as a cold sweat ran from his forehead even though the room was very cool, he accidentally dropped the orb but surprisingly it didn't shatter even though it appeared very fragile. He removed his safety goggles and slowly placed his glasses on his face again and then carefully took up the orb while keeping his eyes on the creature. The creature's gaze was intense and penetrating as Felix felt as it crept up his skin. Felix place the orb on the table and slowly walked away, Felix was moving around but the creature in the tube eye's never left Felix not even once. Felix took off the gloves and coat before leaving his underground lab and went to the surface while trying to keep his composure. When he entered the room he immediately asked for answers regarding to how the black out happened and why the backup generators didn't work, but no one had answers. The only response he got was that the blackout seemed to have happen at their base first and then it spread in a radius of forty two kilometers.

"Our base first?" Felix questioned in a whisper to himself.

Felix then left and thought of all the reasons that could be a possibility to what happened to the blackout. Felix decided to go outside, but when he did he was surprised with what he saw. He thought he was in the underground lab for a couple of hours but now before his eyes it was night, which meant he spent almost the entire day there without realizing. The days passed as the country tried to restore what they lost in the incident that happened in Layxin City, new laws and rules were also being input to suppress those who had the ability to transform and projects being worked on for them also. Felix spends his days in his underground lab mostly sitting in front of the creature that stared back, he didn't understand but he could stare into the creature's dark bead looking eyes for hours even though he felt fear holding onto him. If he wasn't staring at the creature he was trying ways to break the orb. The orb was a spherical ball that glowed and looked like a crystal, it wasn't heavy but it carried weight. He tried throwing, smashing and even try drilling it, but none of that worked. The orb was made of strong and unknown materials and Felix couldn't understand it, but he was sure that the orb in his possession might just be the reason why there was a blackout few days ago.

Felix was very adamant on seeking answers as he spent most of his days in his underground lab and didn't really spoke to the twelve ever since the incident. As he was in his lab looking at the orb that rested on a soft cushion, then the lights started flickering again and then everything went black, Felix rose to his feet and went to the entrance but without electricity he was trapped. He then went back to his chair where the orb was the only light source that luminated the room. The lights then came on again as if someone flipped some sort of switch, when the lights came on Felix was startled and nearly stumbled over the chair. As Felix shifted his position his eyes met the creature's and what he saw was the terrifying alien creature's gaze that pierced into his soul and showed its teeth from ear to ear, his teeth appeared jagged and sharp as if they could chew through anything. At first glance of the creature's terrifying look the color from Felix's face drained, but when he realized he regained his composure, but even still his heart was beating faster than usual. The creature's eyes were locked unto him, Felix tried moving a little from side to side and the creature's eyes followed him and then the creature directed it's intense gaze to something else. Felix carefully followed the creatures eyes and it was focused on the orb that was settled on the table. Felix observed closely as the creature's grin widen revealing more of it's jagged teeth. Fear was slowly making its way up Felix's feet as he didn't understand the creature's behavior since this was the first time it did something different from staring at him.

The orb then started glowing but it wasn't noticeable to Felix but soon it did, the creature's chest in the tube glowed also. It was amusing as Felix removed his glasses from his face and looked closely. Felix saw that some sort of energy emitted from his chest and spiral making its way to something, Felix eyes followed and then he noticed the orb was also doing the same thing. Whatever that was flowing from the creature and the orb was intoxicating in a good way, it looked smoky and glittery but also seemed like a river that carried star dust. Felix watched closer as both light source spiraled to one another. It was surely something that no one had experience before, something greater that any scientific experience, this was something incredible, it was magic. The sight was like he was looking at a mini galaxy, Felix observed with his glasses off as he wanted to look through his own eyes as he held his breath. Felix watched as the spiral energy got closer to each other, with each movement they made Felix's eyes widen, he was very curious about the outcome and hardly took anything into consideration. The spirals then got close and as they touched it looked like planets colliding and the pieces scattered and an orbit was formed at the same time when they made contact. During the same time an unknown force was expelled from the collision that knocked Felix from his feet. He lifted his head shaking his hair away and saw a beam that expelled from impact and stroke into the air. The light had a green color as it aimed to the ceiling, Felix wasn't aware of how high the beam was, as he thought it stopped at the ceiling, but everyone on the outside witnessed the green beam that went through the clouds. This was an unusual event that lasted for five seconds, the beam was immensely bright and everyone who saw it was in amazed, few were curious, concerned, amazed and some feared the worst, but no one understood what the beam truly meant.
