Chapter 4: Escape
Su Hao had experienced various forms of death before, so he lacked a strong fear of death, which made him appear relatively calm.
The threat of death was right in front of him, and in his eyes, it was highly likely that he would not escape this time. However, he had no intention of giving up without a fight.
The assailant's eyes were bloodshot, and his thinking had descended into madness. The chopping knife in his hand was no longer accurate.
Su Hao carefully observed the trajectory of the knife and quickly rolled to the side with all his strength, narrowly avoiding the hasty attack of the assailant. He swiftly got up and ran towards the slide in the classroom where the children were, hoping to find some cover there and possibly evade the danger.
The assailant swung the knife in vain. Without much thought, Su Hao continued running to the side, looking cool and collected.
Run? Could he escape? A cruel look flashed in the assailant's eyes as he immediately gave chase.
Su Hao caught a glimpse of the assailant behind him, quickly closing in. The assailant raised the knife to strike. Su Hao calmly anticipated the knife's trajectory—it was aimed at his right shoulder.
Su Hao immediately threw himself to the ground, narrowly avoiding the knife as it slashed past his head, nearly hitting his skull.
As he attempted to get back up and continue running, he realized that his ankle was grabbed by a powerful hand, pulling him back. No matter how he struggled, he couldn't stop his body from sliding backward.
"It's over!" Su Hao sighed in his heart. He really couldn't make it past the age of five!
The assailant wore a triumphant smile. This annoying kid wouldn't be able to escape this time. He raised the knife for the third time, preparing to strike at Su Hao from behind.
"Bang!"
The knife struck the hard plastic surface on Su Hao's back, rebounding with a crisp sound.
The assailant was stunned. Refusing to believe it, he swung the knife again, only to have it bounce back once more. He forcefully opened Su Hao's clothes, and two plastic plates fell out from his chest and back. The assailant's eyes filled with ferocity, eagerly raising the knife once more. This time, he wanted to see how this annoying kid would defend himself and dodge.
As the plastic plates slipped off Su Hao's body, he grabbed a handful of sand from his pocket, the kind children play with, and threw it towards the assailant's face.
Instinctively, the assailant released Su Hao's ankle and raised his hand to shield his face. Although he blocked most of the sand, the distance was too close. Su Hao's sudden sand throw was fast and unexpected, and some sand still managed to enter the assailant's eyes.
"Ah!" The assailant let out a cry of pain, desperately blinking his eyes and quickly rubbing them with his hand.
Su Hao quickly got up and delivered a powerful punch to the assailant's groin.
"Ah!" The assailant dropped the knife from his hand, clutching his injured area, and slowly crouched down in pain.
Su Hao immediately ran towards the door.
The sand in his eyes would be automatically cleared away soon, and the effects of the groin hit would recover in a few seconds. If the assailant attacked again, Su Hao had no other means to defend himself.
Su Hao successfully made it to the exit. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw several men in their thirties and forties wielding various sticks and objects, rushing towards the classroom.
"Phew, reinforcements finally arrived!" Su Hao let out a sigh of relief. He continued running forward without stopping until a stranger picked him up.
The man carried him into the crowd, placing him safely among the protected group of children, and then turned back to enter the classroom.
At this moment, the young children were crying, but as they saw Su Hao enter, they all paused for a moment. Then, when Su Hao's gaze swept over them, they collectively stopped crying and turned their faces away, silently sobbing.
Soon, the assailant in the classroom was subdued by several men. In the distance, the distinct sounds of ambulances and police cars could be heard.
Su Hao excitedly waved his little hand, feeling temporarily safe.
Until now, due to excessive nervousness, his heart continued to beat rapidly, his breathing was quick, and his face was flushed.
If he had made the slightest panic-induced mistake just now, he would be lying inside, waiting for an ambulance. He didn't believe his small frame could withstand the glaring knife.
The most dangerous moment was when the assailant grabbed his ankle. At that point, he was already helpless and vulnerable. If the assailant had aimed for his head instead of his back, he would have undoubtedly died.
After gradually calming down, Su Hao noticed the change in himself. In the past, he would never have been able to remain calm and think rationally in the face of such a brutal assailant.
After experiencing many deaths, rebirths, and deaths again, his mental resilience had become exceptionally strong. The more critical the situation, the more he could think clearly and calmly.
But this was not entirely advantageous. He had lost his awe of death. Upon reflection, this was a terrifying aspect, as it meant losing the desire to survive tenaciously in desperate situations.
Soon, the incident came to an end. The scene was cordoned off, the police took the assailant into custody, the injured children and security guards were urgently taken to the hospital for treatment, and the kindergarten teacher informed the parents to come and pick up their children. A large number of reporters swarmed in, conducting various reports.
When Huang Shujun, with a panicked face, arrived at the kindergarten and saw Su Hao unharmed, tears burst out like a torrent, and she tightly held onto Su Hao, unwilling to let go.
Deep down, Su Hao felt fortunate that he had managed to survive unscathed. If he had truly died today, how much pain and self-blame would his mother have endured?
...
Soon, a video from the scene began to circulate.
The video showed a young boy repeatedly evading the assailant's attacks, eventually counterattacking and injuring the assailant, successfully escaping.
The young boy in the video was none other than Su Hao.
The comments section exploded.
"Damn, I have to admit it. This is the legendary triumph of the weak over the strong!"
"Who is this kid? He's so cool, unbelievably cool!"
"At this moment, our gang shouts out: Amazing! We're from the combat club."
"I admit this kid can beat me several times..."
"I've been impressed!"
"I bet the criminal was mentally broken by this kid's moves."
"Maybe I can't beat this kid either. Am I too weak?"
"Be confident and remove the word 'maybe'."
"Things won't be the same from now on!"
"I thought movies were exaggerated, but after watching this video, I realized reality is even more exaggerated. Damn!"
"Remember, people are different from each other."
"Who is this little boy? I want to marry him. I'm willing to wait ten years."
"Commenter above is a pervert. In ten years, he'll only be fifteen or sixteen! How can you do that?"
"Did anyone notice that throughout the whole ordeal, this kid remained incredibly calm?
As soon as he encountered the criminal, he immediately went to find two plastic plates for protection. He even grabbed a few handfuls of sand and put them in his pocket. He's just too strong. Definitely a genius."
Su Hao became famous, known as a genius.
After watching the video, everyone had to admit that geniuses truly exist in this world. No one could deny it.
