Chapter 6 - Chapter One - Episode 6

Me : "A body that lives forever ,sounds like a joke."

Rehan : "Well don't argue ,it's my own opinion"

["And if there is peace, why hold on? If there is light, why not let yourself escape the darkness? Do you fear something worse than you have witnessed? Why do I hold on to this madness?" ~The Lost King]

Before the king had his days over, he started to lose his mind. He'd question his existence, his achievement ,his failures. Regardless of what history had to say, there sure was _something _ about what he said that just seemed right .I wonder if I'll ever feel the same one day, be it of a good or a bad taste left behind; I guess only time will tell.

This civilization had everything despite people telling tales of the king's kindness ,I don't buy it . I mean, we are talking about a civilization that made revolutionary changes in explosives. A king who blew his opponents into smithereens and never felt guilty about it. We moved around these once great structures and it was beautiful. I'd say, we witnessed a high class architecture justified by the fact that it was established about 1500 years ago. No cement was used, some buildings used blocks that were interconnected to each other with unique patterns like latches, and others were standing purely based on friction between the blocks. Most of it was destroyed, but what remained was enough to give me an idea of this kingdom. The king's rule, the violent protests; I am still to know what a human really means.

Me : "Do you know what royalty meant in old civilizations? I know they were the people who contributed to the kingdom, or what so ever, but what was their deal. I don't see many history lessons with mentions to ordinary people."

Rehan : "It's just as you said, they contributed to the kings of their regions. As for not ever seeing an ordinary person in history, I don't know about that, but maybe the kings also have biases."

Me : "Makes sense, so how long are we going to stay here? Let's just head back before we start getting late."

Rehan : "Just hold on, we just got here. Do you not like this place?"

Me : "I liked it, Mr King, but there isn't much here plus we have to worry about time too."

We sauntered around the place for some time and started heading back to Rehan's home. The way back seemed way too short, as usual. I don't know why this happens, I'll definitely look it up some day. We had nothing to talk about, but we didn't want to stay quiet either. As usual, we kept on blabbering, and whenever things got silent, I made weird noises to fill the gap. What kind of weird noises; if you wonder, well, something like "tire-tire-truu"; don't ask why_ I just do it. Soon we were back home; this was my last night at Rehan's home. I couldn't stay up all night because I was too sleepy_ I just wished time had no bounds to confine me.

The next morning, I prepared to depart. Before heading home, I sportively cursed Rehan with zeal. You don't know what that is supposed to mean? Well, don't worry, neither do I. On the way back, I sat by the window seat, and heck! That was worth it! I saw the early morning clouds and the sun bypassing its glory through them. One of the clouds seemed like a big mountain, just like the one we climbed the other day, it looked so great. Its beauty is indescribable; it felt majestic up in the sky, it felt like a dream floating above the land. I felt alive at the sight, it had me smiling; the peak was glimmering with the sunlight and all that beneath felt too dark. Time passed in flash and soon I was in my home town. Don't get me wrong my hometown is good but it just felt so bad coming back to it. For starters, the moment I had my feet out, I was bombarded by beggars, I just don't get it seriously!

Oh, and by the way should I include the details like I took a cab and the bastard was overcharging me because it was too early in the morning and there was shortage of cabs, should I include these or just let them be? I soon was home, I was ringing the bell, but seems like my family just doesn't care ."Parrot sound - Parrot sound"_ Oh, this is the bell's sound, if you started choking at a parrot's mention_ after a few minutes my mother came out with a big smile. I can't tell if she was happy or sad, she welcomed me, well, like this: "Why didn't you clean your room before you left? And how was your time with your brother? Did you have fun ?"

Me : "Well, It is clean now, Magic!"

Mother : "I wonder who that great magician is!"

Me : "Anyways, I had fun and a lot of it, what about you?"

Mother : "Well, we had a mini treat for ourselves yesterday, I sure was happy."

Me : "Is there anything left for me?"

Mother : "Yeah, the dishes. Do them and give me a moment of relief too, now."

Nothing can make me feel as comfortable as my house. I was immensely tired after my trip, so I laid down to take a nap, but that turned into a deep slumber, I woke up at midnight. My room had a small bulb, it had a grid in front of it and a night light (basically a dim light) behind it. The grid was always charged with current to kill insects that trespass. I woke up too restful to move, I turned my sight to the night bulb, in that moment of calmness the purplish pink neon glow of the bulb seemed beautiful. There was a fly nearby, it was crawling towards the bulb slowly ,I am no insect geek but it seemed inviting at the moment to study the fly; it had big wings and a small body. I kept staring, sure a fly won't fly somewhere it can see others burnt to a crisp ? Right? The fly kept locking the distance and finally flew its final towards the bulb. "ZAAAP!"

Insects sure are dumb ,but what if that's what makes them smart? The mountains look beautiful, as I look back, I see such a breathtaking blend of colors that my heart beholds its beauty, no eyes needed. If not for something within me, I would have wanted that to be my final sight _what am I going on about? Maybe I'm hungry.

I had some omelet and stayed up all night; excited for the next day. Engineering! Here I come!

The next morning, I had to go to the university to select a subject that I wanted to enroll in, I went with Tayyab, we already had planned to go together. My father gave me a green pass to choose whatever I want, and I wanted to go for engineering .The entrance had a long queue, when i entered in the university there were fancy banners all around the place, lots and lots of subjects to choose from. We went straight to the main board, I don't know what people call it maybe Main Banner? Who cares?!There was no mention of engineering, I mean there was, but it had fancy names: Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Medical Engineering, Civil Engineering. The excitement soon turned into fear; I was overwhelmed but excited.

Me : "What will you enroll in,Tayyab?"

Tayyab : "If I had a choice I would have a mixed education ,I would like to have a taste of each and every program .What about you?"

Me : "Any sort of engineering would be fine, I guess ,except the medical ones."

Tayyab : "What do you say about software engineering ,I will be joining that program as I am already quite fond of computers"

Me : "Let's do it!"

Tayyab : "No, not so soon. First go and contact your family, let them know what you want to choose and get their approval."

Me : "I already have the permission to join any program I want."

Tayyab : "Always discuss major decision with your family before jumping straight in."

I contacted my father and as expected he gave me the permission, sometimes Tayyab just comes off as a pushy person but let's look at the bright side, I will already have a friend in my class. Ah,well, a friend that doesn't consider me a friend but it's better than nothing, I guess. We went on with the procedure and soon had our names registered ."A New Start!" I said.

Tayyab : "There is nothing new about this crap."

Me : "Don't ruin this for me you moron! We will learn a lot of new things here."

Tayyab : "Well, all that you will learn here can be learned for free of cost online. "

Me : "But that isn't the same as having professional teachers."

Tayyab : "You sound like a dummy right now. You have many professional teachers with unique styles online. "

Well, what can I say he has won this one, we were to join classes after a week from now. If they just had told me before I would have had a longer vacation. After a tiring day, I parted ways with Tayyab and went back home, everyone except the dumb brother was excited. I hopped onto my computer and started searching more about the program and was left speechless. One video/article would discourage me saying "there is no future in the program" and then another one would cheer me up again. It was a roller coaster of mental states .I shared the articles with Tayyab but he just replied "So we are doomed (laughing emoji)". I mean, what the hell?! You should care about your future plus I also discovered software engineering was nothing about building. How did I miss the SOFTWARE part? But it was already too late. I'll be careless this once (if i could).
