Chapter 7 - A Restless Afternoon!

"Excuse me, Senpai. Here is my registration form," the orange-haired boy extended the form he was holding to Suguwara-san. The boy had a bright smile that never seemed to fade. His eyes seemed to say, 'I want to try it as soon as possible.'

Suguwara-san took the form handed to him by the orange-haired boy and began to examine it. "Hinata Shoyo-kun, is that correct?"

"Absolutely right, Senpai!"

"Alright, after school today, I'll take these to Sensei for you. Once she signs them, we'll give you the sports uniforms, and I'll also show you the weekly schedule for when the club is active."

"Alright, kids, you can go out now. It's time for our practice," Daichi-san greeted Hinata and me at the door with a kind expression.

"What? But I want to try too! Why is only this kid getting to try?"

"Hinata-kun, you can try another time."

"I don't care, I refuse, I don't accept. I want to try it now. I can't stay still from the excitement, my heart feels like it's about to jump out." Hinata couldn't even form the sentence properly.

When I was left alone with Hinata in front of the door, I remembered that I needed to go back to my classroom and have lunch.

"Tell me, where are you going?"

"I'm going back to my classroom to have lunch."

"Oi, wait for me. I need to talk to you."

As I walked down the corridor, Hinata followed me and kept asking questions.

"What did you feel when you spiked the ball?"

"That spike was the second-best spike you've seen. The first would be my spikes."

"The sound echoing 'Paduum~' when you hit the ball, isn't it exciting?"

"Tell me, with that spike, you could have joined Shiratorizawa High School in Sendai. Why did you come here?"

I began to think that I should answer the question Hinata asked, as he seemed determined not to remain silent.

"Actually, I wasn't planning to join the volleyball club."

"Huh? What?"

"If there was a cooking club here, it would have been my first choice. Also, if I had rejected Tanaka-san's offer, he was looking at me as if he'd beat me up."

"Tanaka? Oh, you mean that bald senpai. Yeah, he always looks angry when he's not smiling."

Finally, Hinata, who seemed to be considering being a little quieter, was about to part ways with me. I don't know which class he was going to, but I was almost at the front of my own class.

"Well then, see you in our next encounter, Hinata."

"Goodbye."

After parting ways with Hinata, when I opened the door to the class, I noticed that everyone was looking at the last school desk. I was on the verge of being shocked when I turned my head in that direction to see what was going on.

"Rika?"

"Yo! Finn, where were you? I tried to find you but couldn't, so I waited for you here."

Sigh...

Hanagawa, noticing me entering the class, approached me and began to whisper in my ear. "What's going on, Finn? Why is this girl constantly interested in you?"

"I don't know, she's become a nuisance and won't leave me alone."

She had even taken a seat at my desk. When I finally reached my own desk, I politely asked her to get up. Surprisingly, she wasn't stubborn about it, and she got up on the first request. However, she had no intention of leaving the classroom. She took Hanagawa's chair next to me and sat down immediately.

"What are you planning to do?" I asked.

"There's a wonderful aroma coming from your backpack. If you had been a little later, I could have eaten your entire lunch." What on earth? You shouldn't eat other people's food, you bully.

"Which club did you join?" Rika asked, with curious eyes.

"The volleyball club."

"Wow, maybe I should join the volleyball club too."

"The girls' and boys' volleyball clubs are separate."

"Then I won't join."

Sigh...

"Which club did you join?" I asked while trying to take out my lunchbox from my backpack.

"I joined the dance club," she replied.

When I opened my lunchbox, Rika started screaming, 'Ohaaaaa.' I could see drool streaming from the corner of her mouth.

"Shall we eat together?"

"Haven't you eaten your own lunch?"

"I did, but I still feel like I haven't had enough."

Then why don't you prepare a meal for yourself that will satisfy you... It's quite painful to have to share the bento I prepared after all that effort.

But at least I can ask Rika about the quality of the meal I made. Rika opened the chopsticks she had brought with her and took a piece of rice and salad to try.

"Hmmm, delicious..." Her cheeks started to turn pink, and she closed her eyes and began to smile.

"Tell me, who prepared the meal?" She asked as she dipped her chopsticks again to eat a few more pieces of rice and salad.

"I did." After she heard what I said, she was about to spit out the food in her mouth onto me. Her eyes widened in surprise.

"You can cook? Moreover, the taste of the food you made is like restaurant-level." Thanks to "The Skilled Hands of the Chef," I can do anything.

After finishing my lunch, the bell rang. Rika, who had taken Hanagawa's chair, heard the bell and put the chair back where it belonged. She waved at me and smiled before leaving the classroom and running towards her own class.

I could see Hanagawa's eyes were fixed on the chair Rika had been sitting in just a moment ago.

"You have some nasty thoughts, my friend." Hanagawa blushed upon hearing my words and tried to deny what I had said.

When Sensei entered the classroom, we had to work on math until the end of school. When school ended, with a throbbing head, I walked towards the shoe cabinet. As I was about to put on my shoes, I noticed Hinata approaching me.

"What happened, Finn? You look a bit pale."

"eiπ+1=0..."

"Oh, I see..."

Since I didn't have the energy to chat with Hinata anymore, I quickly changed my shoes and wanted to go home to have Hori's delicious cooking.

When I stepped into the school yard, I felt my phone vibrating. When I answered to see who was calling, I saw that it was Hori.

"Hello, is something wrong, Hori-nee?"

"Ah, no, it's nothing important, Finn-kun. I just called to say that I'll be coming home a bit late today. Could you come by to pick up the house keys?"

"Of course, where are you?"

"I'm at a library near the Miyagi shopping center. I'll be late because I'm going to study with my university friends. I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

"That's fine, I'll be there soon."
