Sitting in the large living room of our new home, everyone was ready for their presents. In the corner of the living room, a large twelve-foot tree stood, leaving mere inches between the top of the gold star and the ceiling. The tree was overly decorated, adorned with lines of popcorn, tinsel, ribbons, and candy canes. Underneath were no less than a hundred presents. Standing in front of everyone, I wore a Santa suit with a large white beard on my face.
"All right," I said, grabbing everyone's attention, "Are we ready to open some presents?" I asked in a deep, jolly voice, putting a hand to my ear. Nobody had time to respond before Liam shot to his feet from where he had been seated on the floor. "YESSSS!!!" he shouted, doing a little happy dance, his eyes wide as he looked over the piles of presents. His reaction made everyone laugh with amusement.
"HO-HO-HO! Now that's what I like to hear," I said, leaning down to grab the first present within reach. Bringing the small box up close to my eyes, I pushed the gold spectacles on my face up, reading the name written on it. "This one seems to belong to a Mister… Liam." I said, handing the small package to my son, who was practically hysterical with joy. Grabbing the box out of my hands with a strength that belied his small stature, he scampered back to his mother, plopping down on the ground by her feet and tearing away at the paper wrapping.
As soon as he tore the paper away, his eyes lit up even more. Inside was a small pouch of different colored marbles. It was the smallest gift we had gotten him, but he was acting like they were the coolest thing ever. Leaning back down, I grabbed another present, making sure it wasn't one for Liam, who was currently trying to get the bag open so he could start a game of marbles on the carpet. Looking at the name on the box, a small smile spread across my face as I said, "And this one looks to be for a Miss… Esme." Handing her the box, we watched as she opened it, pulling out a fancy sweater. That was one picked out by Rosalie, since I was more inclined to buy expensive items rather than things that actually looked good when it came to women's clothes. I always figured that if it costs a normal person an arm and a leg, it must look good to them.
Grabbing another box, I read the name, "Ahh, Carlisle," I said, handing him the heavy package. It was a first edition of *de humani corporis fabrica*, a very rare medical book from the early 15th century. Reading off another box, "Emmett," I said, tossing him the large box. Catching the large box with ease, he smiled happily as he saw what was inside. Inside was a pristine pair of flintlock pistols.
"Nice!" he said, picking them up and inspecting them, before a piece of paper tied to one of the pistols caught his eye. Written on the piece of paper was one simple name, "These used to belong to George Washington?" Emmett asked, looking up at me. Giving him a wink, I grabbed another present, "Ohhh, let's see here," I said, reading the name slowly again, "this one's for a Mister Edward." He seemed surprised to be getting a gift as he sat forward in his chair. Handing him the box, I watched intently as he opened it. Tearing off the paper, he opened the box slowly. He pulled out an ornate silver dagger. The dagger was heavily worn, with scratches and dents marking the silver sheath. Before pulling out the blade, he reached back into the box, pulling out a piece of paper with writing on it.
"This dagger belonged to Oliver; I thought you might want it." Edward looked up at me with wide eyes. I gave him a small smile, reading off the name on the next gift. "And this one is for Evelyn." She received a fancy silver bracelet with small gems scattered across it. Grabbing a small box, I read off Rosalie's name. Handing her the box with a small smile, I couldn't help but chuckle internally as she opened it. Reaching into the small box, she pulled out a single key. She looked at me confused, so I explained, "That goes to the brand new Cadillac 1942 coupe in the driveway." I said, quickly standing and rushing to see her new car.
The way things were going now with how many cars we had, I was going to need to buy Georges for them. Looking back at the pile, I saw a small package was for me. Picking it up, I rattled it, listening to whatever was inside. Looking up, I saw everyone looking at me. Everyone but Liam, that is; he was currently attempting to flick a marble into another one with no luck. Dexterity was still a work in progress for him. Tearing open the small square package, I smiled, lifting a black box out of the wrapping. The box had 'Patek Philippe' in silver cursive on the top, with a gold ribbon wrapped around it. Removing the bow, I opened the box, revealing a Patek Philippe Prince Mohammed Tewfik A. Toussou.
"No way," I said happily, quickly taking the watch from the box and fitting it to my wrist. "I've been trying to get my hands on one of these for months," I said, dropping my Santa act as I focused on the watch. Everyone smiled as they watched me. "It definitely wasn't easy to ge—" Emmett started, but was quickly silenced by Evelyn, who gave him a stare. Letting out a chuckle at their act, I started handing out the rest of the gifts. Everyone got five presents each, except Liam; he got around twenty. What can I say? Rose and I like to spoil him. The toys weren't anything extravagant, but they were things every kid his age would want, like a tricycle, pop guns, and a baseball glove and bat.
