"Nidhogg, do you know what the greatest evil of democracy is?"
"Decision-making is sluggish and involves endless back-and-forth bickering?"
"That's merely a by-product, a process rather than an outcome. The so-called greatest evil of democracy is allowing those utterly lacking in political literacy, devoid of professional knowledge, and who are foolish, blindly faithful, and always convinced of their own correctness, to participate in national decision-making. It's akin to a brain-tumor patient in urgent need of cranial surgery, yet the hospital's solution is to let the neurosurgeon vote along with the security guards, janitors, laundry workers, electricians, plumbers, canteen chefs, dishwashers, convenience store clerks, morgue porters, patients' families, and doctors and nurses of various departments—everyone in the hospital votes on the treatment plan and performs the brain surgery on the patient. And that neurosurgeon, he has just one vote, equal to everyone else's."
