Tom's words, "Although I've seen vampires before, you seem to be a different species," made the atmosphere in the Cullen family room heavy again. Edward and Jasper's faces turned serious, while Carlisle's brow furrowed slightly. Tom's familiarity with the supernatural world had caught everyone's attention.
Esme asked in a soft tone, as if to ease the tension:
"Tom, you said that you have encountered vampires before. Could you tell us about it? Of course, if it doesn't make you uncomfortable."
Tom looked silently around the room for a moment. There was an expression on his face that reminded him of the shadows of the past. Then he looked at Alice, who gave him a reassuring nod. That seemed to encourage Tom.
"Yes, I have encountered vampires before," he said in a calm voice. "But I did not find them as... civilized as you. During my years in Europe, I traveled in certain circles, and the vampires there were uncontrolled and violent. They hunted with total disregard for human life, killing not only to satisfy their hunger but also for fun."
After Tom's explanation, they misunderstood part of his sentence. When he had called the Cullen family a different species than the vampires he had seen before, he hadn't meant to call them polite and civilized. The vampires he had encountered before stayed out during the day and hunted at night.
Rosalie frowned as she listened intently to Tom's words. "How did you survive these vampires?"
Tom smiled slightly, but there was a hint of darkness in it. "I survived them..." he began, pausing briefly, his eyes shifting from Rosalie to Carlisle. "When you know your own limits, fear gives way to control. And... if you have the right skills, most problems can be easily solved."
Edythe's face grew serious. "You talk about skills. But it always takes more than skills to face such creatures," she said, studying Tom intently.
Tom's smile broadened slightly, but a dark glint appeared in his eyes. "You're right, Mrs. Cullen. But on some occasions I have not hesitated to... take action against them."
Carlisle tilted his head carefully, as if to catch the implication in Tom's words. "Can you tell us about your power?"
Tom looked at Alice with a small smile. If he hadn't wanted them to ask that question, he would have conducted this conversation differently.
He slowly waved his right hand and a wand descended from his suit into his hand. Tom looked at his wand and the others in the room looked at it with curiosity.
He pointed his wand at the glass on the table and decided to cast a simple transfiguration spell. The glass chalice turned into a moving mouse.
Everyone in the Cullen family stared in shock at the mouse that had appeared as a result of the transfiguration spell. Even the youngest vampire among them was over 100 years old and had never seen anything like it in their entire life.
Even Alice, no matter how much time she spent with Tom, when she was with him, she usually chose to focus on Tom instead of magic. Her admiration for him grew even more.
"What the hell is this?" Emmett was the first to break the silence. He hadn't taken Tom too seriously until now. He had thought he was a liar trying to impress himself, because after hearing that Tom had fought a vampire with a normal human body, he didn't believe the rest.
"It's called metamorphosis magic. It's a very wide and powerful field." Tom pointed his wand at the mouse on the table, and the mouse on the table flew into Emmett's hand.
Emmett looked at the mouse in surprise. The mouse that had just been a jar was now moving in his hand.
"Is that thing alive now? Have you created a living thing?" Edythe, always cautious, looked at the mouse in Emmett's hand, and even she was surprised.
"Can we suck its blood?" Jasper, sitting next to Edythe, looked a little appetizing as he looked at the rat.
"No, no, that's not how the spell works. If we turn an object into food and eat it, it may give you a feeling of fullness at the time, but the spell will wear off. Then the food in your stomach will return to its original state." As Tom looked into Jasper's eyes, he felt a thirst for blood. He could tell that he was hungry. When he was with Alice, she had never been in such a state.
"So if this rat's blood is absorbed, we'll have broken glass in our bodies when the spell wears off?" Emmet continued to look curiously at the rat as he played with it. It was no different from a normal mouse.
"Yes. That's exactly what will happen." Tom pointed his wand at the mouse and the tip of his wand slowly glowed yellow.
When Emmett saw Tom pointing his wand at the mouse, he was afraid at first, but he didn't say anything. He was scared because he thought he might turn into a mouse.
In the blink of an eye, the mouse turned into a bar of gold.
When Emmett looked at the gold in his hand, he had some ideas. The gold in his hand was no different from real gold. He could secretly sell it to someone on the black market and escape.
Seeing Emmett's thoughtful look, Esme took the gold bar from his hand and sat down again.
"But..." Emmett was about to speak when Rosalie took his hand and stopped him. She knew the man she loved better than anyone and could imagine what he was thinking right now.
"Can you put my glass back the way it was, I don't want to ruin my glassware." Esme looked a little unhappy as she looked at the gold in her hand.
Tom waved his wand one last time and the gold bar in Esme's hand returned to its original state. Esme was holding a glass goblet.
"That was really cool man, what other skills do you have?" Emmett looked like an excited child.
"The field of magic is very broad. There are so many things I could show you. I can't imagine how long it would take me to start explaining and demonstrating." Tom's mind and spirit were so strong that he could learn a simple spell in a minute and never forget it. At his age, he has learned so many spells that even he does not know the exact number.
The spells taught at Hogwarts were basic spells and the most commonly used spells. Since special spells took a very long time for ordinary people to learn, Hogwarts did not usually teach these spells.
Graduates could only learn these spells on their own. That's why the pure-blood families, with their vast libraries and great wealth, had a great advantage over the Muggle wizards.
"Can you show me your combat spells?" Hearing Emmett's request, Alice looked at Tom with curious eyes.
"There are many different kinds of combat spells. There are spells we can use to disable or kill an opponent. In duels, harmful spells are not usually used. I can show you a simple dueling spell if you like." Riddle thought about demonstrating a small part of his power.
"Please do it in the garden. I don't want my things damaged." Esme looked at the paintings on the walls and the antiques on the shelves with worried eyes.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Cullen. I promise there won't be any problems." Tom could speak so freely because he trusted the 'Repair' spell. Damage caused by spells like 'Bombarda' could be repaired with 'Reparo'.
Only the damage caused by powerful dark magic cannot be repaired with 'Repair'.
"Okay." Esme nodded, a little reluctantly.
I apologize for not posting recently, dear readers. I haven't updated because I was studying for my exams.
I will go back to my usual routine and probably post a Q&A about the universe and the book tomorrow. If you have any suggestions for the female lead, please let me know. I have most of the ideas decided, but I haven't finalized anything.
