Chapter 50 - 49. Visit 4

Riddle pointed his wand at the table and cast Serpensortia.

This spell causes a snake to emerge from the caster's wand. Since the snake is shaped according to the caster's intentions, whether it is poisonous or not, or what it looks like, is up to the caster.

Even though the Cullen family believed in the existence of the spell, they still felt like they were imagining things when they saw a snake come out of Tom's wand.

The snake that came out of Tom's wand was an Indian Cobra. Although its poison was deadly, it could not harm anyone in this room. Even if its poison entered Tom's body, it could not kill him. Tom could heal himself with some magic. With a spell he was already working on, he had absorbed the life energy of many people into his body.

By accumulating life energy in his own body, Tom made his body stronger. Not only in terms of physical endurance and strength, but also in terms of life expectancy, which should be several times longer than that of a normal human.

Nicolas Flamel's "Philosopher's Stone" worked the same way. By combining this stone with the potion, Nicolas Flamel was able to supply his own body with vital energy and lived for more than 600 years.

Tom's method was more perfect because the side effects of the potion and the Philosopher's Stone had weakened Nicolas Flamel's body. But Tom's body grew stronger.

If that was the kind of immortality the Dark Lord was looking for, he might have gotten it, but what he was looking for was true immortality. He did not want to be killed in any way. But this wish was only the beginning of his lost path.

The cobra snake on the table slowly began to move toward Tom.

Alice trusted Tom, but she was afraid that he might get hurt. Even if she wanted to remove the snake, it would be absurd to do so.

Riddle pointed his wand at the approaching Indian Cobra and used the simplest neutralization spell.

Petrificus Totalus

The spell hardens and stiffens the target's entire body. Under the spell, the person can breathe and see and hear everything around them, but cannot react.

This spell is usually used to temporarily incapacitate an attacker. It is not lethal and is usually considered a softer attack spell.

"Finite or a similar counterspell can be used to remove the effect of this spell.

The tip of Tom's staff glowed faintly with a bluish light and faded.

The snake on the table stopped moving and stood like a statue.

They thought that an ability that could neutralize a target in just one second was very powerful.

In fact, a wizard with normal power cannot use this spell against magical animals or vampires, because it will not work against them.

But when wizards with high magical power, like Riddle, use this spell, the chances of it working are greatly increased because they are much more effective and powerful.

"Will this spell work on us?" Emmett was surprised to see the effect of the spell. He was expecting something like he had seen in the movies. A ball of flame or something like that.

"Yes." After Riddle's answer to Emmett's question, the vampires in the room felt a little weak against Riddle. They had hoped that Tom would be slow and unable to cast the spell in time because of their speed.

In fact, even though Tom was slower than they were, he was able to neutralize his opponent by attacking first, because he could sense the intention to attack first.

Thus, Grindelwald was able to block the attack against him with his back turned.

Even if Riddle could not block an attack at that speed, the protective spells on his body protected him from such attacks. Only powerful wizards like Dumbledore could pierce those defenses and secretly kill Tom.

"If this is just a simple dueling spell, I wonder what war spells are like." Rosalie had become more suspicious of Tom when she saw his power.

Alice was glad to see that Tom had the power to protect himself. The possibility of other vampires hurting Tom had always bothered her, but now she was relieved to know that Tom was strong.

Alice was angry that Tom hadn't told her before. As much as she complained about it, she would tell him when she was alone with Tom. She didn't want Tom to keep anything from her.

Carlisle was curious. It was obvious that Tom's magic was capable of defeating a vampire. If there were other wizards besides Tom, they would surely be scattered around the world with such power. He preferred to remain silent, as it occurred to him that they might be hiding. He was in no hurry to know the answer to this question.

"But are wizards immortal?" Rosalie asked without thinking about the new question in her head.

"Immortality is a very broad term. It can be answered from many different angles. If the immortality you are talking about is eternal life, then it is possible, but it is not possible to be immortal in the face of any injury." Tom thought that he could have eternal life. The easiest way was to steal people's vital energy.

Alice always thought about turning Tom into a vampire. Even though she didn't want to do it, she thought she had to do it reluctantly because she wanted to live with him forever. After hearing that Tom would be immortal, a problem that had been bothering her for a long time was gone.

Edward looked pensive. After hearing that Tom had eternal life, he wondered if Bella could have the same.

"Can you give an ordinary person eternal life?" Edward felt like he was looking into infinite space as he looked at Tom.

Riddle didn't answer the question right away. He could give a normal person a long life, but he had to work on giving an infinite life. He could transfer the life energy of normal people into another person's body, but he didn't want to work on making another person live forever.

Making a Horcrux would be an option, but a normal person's soul would be crushed under the dark energy of the Horcrux spell.

Seeing Tom thinking quietly, the members of the Cullen family waited patiently for him to speak.

When Riddle had finished thinking, he looked into Edward's eyes and tried to understand what he was thinking.

Edward couldn't read Tom's mind, but Tom had read Edward's. Now he understood why he had asked the question.

Tom thought that Edward's thoughts were stupid. He could easily turn him into a vampire and give him power and eternal life.

Edward didn't realize that his mind was being read, but he felt a slight headache. He was a little surprised that it was the first time he had a headache since becoming a vampire, but he didn't show it to anyone.

Tom finally began to speak. "I can give normal people a long life, but not eternal life."

He didn't want to suggest that she turn Bella into a vampire. He didn't want to comment on something that wasn't his business.

Edward was in a bad mood after hearing Tom's answer. He had hoped that he could make Bella immortal without turning her into a vampire, but it had not worked out the way he had hoped.
