Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

After seeing that Wan Shi Tong didn't plan on having any sort of conversation, Kaya just shifted her attention back to Kizer, who was standing there looking at her.

The library had long stopped shaking, likely due to Wan Shi Tong giving up on taking this whole spirit library back to the spirit world. Since that was the case, Kizer ordered his elites to retrieve whatever they thought was valuable. Books and scrolls filled with knowledge about all nations, their histories, and their bending abilities.

It wasn't just about getting them to read, Kizer also wanted that knowledge and information in his personal library, not just for himself but for his future family as well. He disliked how empty it was, though that was because he only hand‑picked books that could be put on the shelfs—books that were really old and ancient and truly contained valuable information and knowledge.

If it were up to him, he would have gotten all the books in this spirit library, but that would have taken a very long time, and his personal library wasn't that massive—it couldn't possibly store more than five thousand books.

And not all books or sources of information in this spirit library were valuable anyway, Wan Shi Tong just collected anything, even if it was useless knowledge, as long as it was new.

Kizer stopped smoking and completely destroyed his golden pipe with his hands. "Where do you want to go here?" he said, approaching Kaya.

"I don't know. Do you know any interesting place here?" Kaya asked as she hugged Kizer's arm.

Kizer remembered a built‑in ancient planitorium inside this spirit library, though he didn't really know where it was. It would be great if Kaya could watch and experience being inside it, and he could guarantee that she would really enjoy it. There was no planetarium in Omashu, since no one had thought of building one, and if they had, they wouldn't know how to create it—it was a complex piece of engineering that only this library possessed.

Now that he thought about it, his home deserved one as well. He would just ask his creations to create one for him once he got back.

"I've never been here either, so we have to explore it by ourselves for now. What about you, Bumi?"

"I will go separately from you two for now, I want to go deep inside the library, kekeke," Bumi said before jumping down the bridge.

There's a saying that good stuffs can only be found in the deepest part or the end of anything. That saying can probably be applied to this library as well.

Kizer didn't know where to start, so he approached the so‑called knowledge seekers, one of which was a fox walking with a book in its mouth. It sensed that he and Kaya were approaching, so it turned to them and was quickly frightened by the man.

It didn't know why, but the man was emitting an unbelievable amount of danger and pressure, causing it to back off to the wall. It wanted to run, but its instincts warned it not to. Is that even a human? He looked like one, but his eyes were different—dark with white pupils—which made him more frightening. He's too evil...

"Kizer, I think you're scaring the fox..." Kaya muttered with worry.

Kaya then left Kizer's side and slowly approached the fox carefully. When she was close enough, she started brushing its head with her hands, visibly calming the fox a little.

"Would you help us explore this library, Mr. Fox?" Kaya said with a smile.

The fox nodded, feeling that this human lady was innocent, unlike the man she was with. It couldn't feel any malicious intent coming from her, unlike the man who seemed to gather all the evil from the world.

"That's great, thank you! My name is Kaya, and this man behind me is Kizer. Nice to meet you."

The fox nodded before starting to walk again to lead them to a very unique rooms within this library.

The first room they went through was a collection of very old books and scrolls, it's where some of the earliest knowledge is stored. The fox still remembered that it was the fifth knowledge seeker to store a book here.

Kizer read some books inside, and they sure contained very ancient knowledge, like the early leaders of the firebender settlers who later formed the Fire Nation as known today, and some information and stories about ancient and legendary spirits.

Kizer found all the books here valuable, so he secretly ordered one of his elite soldiers, who was hiding, to steal fifty books that were truly important. It looked like this room had over a thousand books stored, but almost all of them were about ancient spirits and how early humans lived, which Kizer didn't care to know about.

Kaya seemed to be interested in a book about the early humans. "Hello, Mr. Fox, can I borrow this? I don't think I can finish it today."

The fox wanted to say no, but with a little pressure from Kizer, it just nodded in defeat.

The next thing the fox led them to was a mechanical room with thousands of gears, from small to giant, spinning and causing the other gears they were connected to to spin as well. What was most interesting was that it looked like the giant circle at the end functioned as a clock, but without numbers and with only a long arrow.

Kaya found it cool and was fascinated by it, but it was the opposite for Kizer, he had seen something more impressive than that in his previous life. Almost all the devices and machines there were more impressive than this.

After leaving that room, they were soon led in front of the golden flower‑like door, which was where Kizer wanted to go.

The fox entered a small hole to open the door from inside, and soon the golden door started shaking and then slowly roll open. Kizer and Kaya entered the room, and the fox pushed a lever.

The whole room suddenly lit up with thousands of lights moving on the ceiling.

"This is beautiful..." Kaya said, mesmerized by the scene.

The moon symbol then dipped below and disappeared, and then the sun symbol came in. The room suddenly lit up, making everything visible.

"Kaya, try and start moving those circles to whatever you like," Kizer said, pointing at the circle structure in the center.

Kaya complied with a smile and started rotating the circle structure, turning the room dark and light every moment.
