Chapter 292 - Chapter 291: Duelists!

"Eh? Kaminari-kun, why are you here with Kyoka?"

Kyoka and Kaminari had just stepped into the entrance hall when Kyoka's mother turned to them in surprise. The young and beautiful woman was still dressed in her sleek black skirt and professional business attire.

Behind her stood Kyoka's father, a man with shoulder-length blond hair. Back in his youth, he had been the lead singer of a band, while Kyoka's mother had been one of his most devoted fans.

A rare case of a fan successfully marrying their idol!

"Auntie, Uncle, sorry for the sudden visit," Kaminari greeted them politely with a bow before explaining the reason for his arrival.

"I'm planning to release a new song over summer break, and I've got a few ideas I want Kyoka to test out.

"If it all goes well, I'll call the rest of the Pikachu Band together for an official recording."

"A new song?!"

Kyoka's parents and Kyoka herself exclaimed in unison, their eyes lighting up with curiosity and excitement.

It was only natural, this was a family of musicians. Their passion for music, especially pop songs, ran deep.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Kyoka pouted in mild annoyance.

"Hey, even if I told you in advance, you'd still have to wait until you got home to hear it, right? Doesn't really change anything," Kaminari said with a grin.

"Hmph, still…" Kyoka mumbled, pursing her lips slightly in embarrassment.

Just then, her father stepped forward enthusiastically, grabbing Kaminari's hand with a beaming smile.

"Oh, Kaminari-kun is absolutely right! You wouldn't have been able to listen until you got home anyway, so it's fine to hear it now!"

"Come in, come in!" He eagerly pulled Kaminari toward the house, so quickly that Kaminari, who hadn't even taken off his shoes yet, struggled to keep up.

"Wait, Uncle—!"

Seeing her husband's over-the-top enthusiasm, Kyoka's mother adjusted her glasses with a sigh before stepping in to pull him back.

"How could you act so rudely toward Kaminari-kun?" she scolded.

"Uh… yeah, my bad, my bad. That was on me, hahaha," Kyoka's father chuckled awkwardly.

"Kaminari-kun, please forgive my husband's lack of decorum. He's already heard some of the songs you've composed before, so he's very eager to hear your new work," Kyoka's mother said gracefully.

"As a fellow music lover, I totally understand where Uncle is coming from!" Kaminari replied with a laugh, waving off any concerns.

Then, he extended an invitation of his own.

"Uncle, Auntie, why don't you both listen too? Since you're experienced musicians, your feedback would be really valuable!"

Kyoka, watching Kaminari interact so easily with her parents, felt a growing sense of satisfaction toward her boyfriend.

"Hahaha! Kaminari-kun, you sure know how to talk. I like you already!" Kyoka's father laughed heartily, nodding in approval.

"Well then, we'll take you up on that offer," Kyoka's mother agreed with a warm smile. Then, she turned to her husband, who still looked giddy.

"Kyoka's room is a bit small. Since four people will be listening, why don't we move to your performance room? I'll prepare tea and snacks for everyone."

"Great idea! Leave it to me!" Kyoka's father agreed enthusiastically.

"I'm just going to drop off my school bag first. Kaminari, give me yours too. I'll put them away in my room," Kyoka offered, holding out her hands.

"Sure!"

Kaminari handed over his bag without hesitation and joked, "Actually, you don't have to rush to give it back. Tomorrow's the start of summer break anyway. You could just return it when school starts again."

Kyoka tilted her head in thought for a few seconds before nodding.

"Hmm… yeah, okay."

"…Wait, you actually agreed?" Kaminari was momentarily speechless. He hadn't expected her to take him seriously, but now he couldn't exactly go back on his words.

With nothing more to say, he followed Kyoka's father, who was urging him along excitedly.

Meanwhile, behind them, Kyoka's mother silently watched the backs of her daughter and Kaminari.

She stood there in quiet contemplation until they were completely out of sight.

Then, turning toward the kitchen, she softly murmured,

"…Isn't it a little too early?"

---

"Whoa, this place is amazing!"

Upstairs, Kaminari followed Kyoka's father into a spacious room and was instantly blown away.

This wasn't just a room. It was a full-fledged performance space, easily over a hundred square meters in size.

Either the Jiro family's home had originally been designed this way, or they had purchased two adjacent apartments and renovated them.

Whichever the case, it was clear they were not lacking in financial resources. Even if Kyoka's father hadn't been a superstar in his youth, he must have been a well-known musician.

I should look him up later. I bet I can find something online, Kaminari thought to himself.

The room itself was a musician's paradise. The walls were lined with acoustic guitars, electric guitars, basses, violins, and other instruments of various shapes and colors.

But the most striking feature was the mini-stage at the front of the room.

A standing mic was set up at the center of the stage, with a drum set, a piano, and an electronic keyboard positioned behind it.

Large external speakers, sound effect processors, and amplifiers were neatly arranged on either side.

It was a fully-equipped performance room, something most professional musicians could only dream of.

"Hahahaha!"

Kyoka's father beamed, clearly pleased by Kaminari's reaction.

"You didn't bring your own electric guitar, did you? Go ahead and pick one from the wall and tune it!"

"Alright, I won't hold back then."

Kaminari's gaze scanned the selection before settling on an all-black electric guitar with blue lightning patterns.

Although his personal favorite was golden yellow, the lightning motif still suited his style.

Just as he finished tuning, Kyoka entered the room, carrying her bass. Behind her, Kyoka's mother followed with a tray of tea and snacks.

By that time, Kaminari had nearly finished setting up.

It was obvious that Kyoka's father frequently used this room, everything was in perfect condition, without a speck of dust in sight.

"Kaminari-kun, just grab a high chair and set up on the stage," Kyoka's father instructed as he took a seat beside his wife on the plush sofa.

"Kyoka, you do the same. Your mother and I will sit here and listen."

Kaminari had no objections. Now that he was familiar with this incredibly professional mini-stage, he was eager to perform.

The ceiling even had rotating stage lights. It was unreal.

"Kaminari, what's the name of your new song?" Kyoka asked curiously as she adjusted her bass.

"Hmm… I'll play an instrumental piece first, and then I'll introduce the new song," Kaminari replied, casually strumming his guitar.

"An instrumental?" Kyoka's parents exchanged intrigued glances.

"Yeah. Both the instrumental and the new song are tied to an upcoming anime that my dad's company is producing.

"The first one is a BGM track, and the second is the opening theme!"

"Does the BGM have a name?" Kyoka's father asked, setting down his tea cup. Kyoka's mother and Kyoka herself also turned their full attention to him.

"It does," Kaminari confirmed, his gaze suddenly sharpening.

Then, with a confident smirk, he declared:

"It's called 'The Passionate Duelists.'"

Without another word, he lowered his head and began to play.

A powerful surge of electrifying music erupted from the speakers, its vibrant energy spreading through the room like wildfire.

At that moment, another classic track from his past life was brought into this world of Quirks!
