Chapter 319: The Treasure of the Eight Treasures Navy
Charlotte felt the freezing sensation in the palm of his hand.
The ice was even colder than he had imagined.
He summoned his Seven-Star Sword into his hand and lightly tapped the ice with its tip—he didn't even use much force.
To everyone's shock, the blade only chipped off a tiny sliver of ice.
It stunned the entire group.
They knew full well the might of their captain's sword—a cursed blade sharp enough to rival the 12 Supreme Grade Swords.
Yet now it left only a scratch?
Unconvinced, someone immediately drew their own longsword and swung hard at the ice.
Clang!
All eyes turned to the swordsman. His arm trembled, and a chip appeared in the edge of his blade.
Everyone looked at one another in disbelief.
"What kind of ice is this? It's ridiculously hard!"
Esdeath muttered in astonishment.
No one had an answer.
"It's the Jade Iceberg," Charlotte explained calmly.
"Jade Iceberg?"
Everyone gasped.
"Dad! What's hidden under all this?"
Caesar asked curiously, surprised his father would go to such lengths.
Charlotte glanced at his children and crew.
"Beneath us is a mountain of treasure—this is the legacy of the Eight Treasures Navy, buried here over hundreds of years. I intend to take it all."
He didn't hide anything. They would find out soon enough.
"The Eight Treasures Navy? That's the group whose leader Chinjao got captured by Vice Admiral Garp a couple years ago. I think I met him once when I was little," Caesar said, frowning as he tried to recall.
"You did. But your sister remembers better. You were only three at the time."
Charlotte turned to Esdeath.
She nodded.
"My Conqueror's Haki awakened under the pressure of his presence. In a way, I should probably thank him."
She cracked a half-joke, cold as always.
Most of the others didn't remember much—it had been seven years.
"All right, enough chit-chat. Your mothers are waiting on the ship. Everyone clear out. I'm going to smash this thing open."
Charlotte waved them back.
No one dared disobey. They quickly retreated to the ship, watching from afar.
Charlotte stood alone on the massive icefield.
How much treasure was hidden beneath his feet?
Whatever the amount—it was all his now.
As for Chinjao?
This would count as interest on the life Charlotte had spared seven years ago.
If Chinjao had a problem, he could come and get flattened.
Charlotte raised his Seven-Star Sword, now glowing with eerie green energy and wrapped in crackling lightning.
A powerful aura exploded from his body.
No one blinked. Everyone held their breath, locked on him.
Charlotte rarely showed his true power.
The last time was two years ago in his epic clash with Black Arm Zephyr, which had lasted nearly five days.
To see him fight again today was a rare honor.
Newer crew members widened their eyes, trying not to miss a single detail.
Charlotte slowly raised his sword.
"Yō—Ken—Haki—Heaven!"
With a thunderous roar, he brought the blade down.
BOOM!
A hundred-meter-long sword beam cleaved into the ice.
The entire glacier trembled violently.
Charlotte, standing at the epicenter, nearly lost his balance.
He'd put his full power into that attack—enough to shatter an entire island.
Could even Jade Ice withstand it?
The rumbling grew fiercer, shaking snow from the peaks.
Back on the Poseidon, a massive shockwave rang out.
Barrett turned toward the sound.
"Captain just acted… What could've made him do that?"
No one had an answer. Barrett simply waited.
—
As the snow cleared, Charlotte stood amidst shattered ice.
He looked down at the glittering sight beneath him.
Treasure.
He grinned.
"This Jade Ice is harder than I thought."
"Get over here and start hauling it all up!"
He waved toward his crew, who had been frozen in awe.
The veteran members snapped out of it and called for the others.
"We're rich, Captain!"
The crew ran into the treasure vault, gold coins crunching beneath their boots.
They treaded carefully, afraid of damaging anything.
The entire area beneath the ice—a hundred-meter radius—was filled with treasure.
It was the most wealth many of them had ever seen in one place.
"Hahahaha! That's right! Stop gawking and load it all up—it's ours now!"
Charlotte shouted joyfully.
This hoard was easily worth over 10 billion Beli.
No wonder the Flower Country, home of the Eight Treasures Navy, was considered the most powerful in the West Blue.
Just one generation's hoard could rival national treasuries.
This was without question the biggest haul of Charlotte's life.
The only thing that might top it was Shandora's Golden City on Skypiea.
If this iceberg was made of gold, then that city would be his next stop.
But he wasn't in a rush—it would all fall into his hands eventually.
The crew worked eagerly, each carrying armfuls of treasure back to the ship.
Even the kids knew how valuable it was and joined in the effort.
As Charlotte surveyed the glistening hoard, he spotted three locked treasure chests.
He strode over.
He didn't even need to check.
They were almost certainly Devil Fruits—passed down by the Eight Treasures Navy.
He opened the first one.
Inside lay a shimmering, silver-white Devil Fruit.
A note was tucked alongside it.
Charlotte picked it up and read it.
"Logia-type: Mercury-Mercury Fruit!"
His eyes lit up.
"A Logia!"
He stared at the gleaming fruit in awe.
A Logia-type Devil Fruit that hadn't appeared in the original timeline.
The Eight Treasures Navy really had kept some astonishing secrets.
Jackpot.
