The following morning arrived on trembling feet.
Aurora Sage wasn't the type to linger in the warmth of sheets, not even when Logan Mason's arm was draped over her hip, and his face was buried in the curve of her neck, his breath slow and steady with sleep. She lay still only because of the weight of last night's kiss still etched into her skin. Because of what he'd said. And because—for one terrifying second—she'd believed it could last.

The moment she slid out from under him, Logan shifted, brow twitching.
"Aurora," he murmured, not quite awake. "Come back."
Her hand hovered near his shoulder, then dropped.
"I'll be back," she said quietly.
