Mila wriggled her hand, "The light is back on, can you let go now?" she asked calmly, staring at her hand that Zyran still held.
"What if it goes off again?" Zyran asked calmly, brushing his thumb on Mila's wrist. "I'll need to hold you just in case the light goes off again."
A bulb light creaking at one side of the room enveloped the silence that now danced. Mila and Zyran held each other's gaze, both unwilling to blink. It wasn't intense or filled with hate. It was a calm, soft stare. Filled with curiosity, confusion, and mostly longing.
"What happened?" Stephanie gasped, breaking the silence when she arrived. Her eyes glanced at Zyran's hand and where he held. She reached for his free hand.
"It was so scary, the light going off and... um... I feel really lightheaded."
Zyran rolled his eyes, annoyed that the woman had interrupted but even more disgusted that she was touching him. He turned to push her hand, but Mila stopped him.
