{Chapter: 213 Position changes so fast?}
Before everything that transpired yesterday, Mei Yuxian had always seen Lin Yuan as her future son-in-law—an ideal candidate, someone any mother would be proud to welcome into the family. She had no doubt that Lin Yuan possessed remarkable talent, charisma, and ambition, and she had long imagined a future in which her daughter, Gui Qingtong, and Lin Yuan would be happily married.
In fact, she had already begun to quietly plan for the future. Once Qingtong graduated from university, Mei Yuxian hoped to initiate deeper cooperation with the Lin family—both in business and in personal ties—strengthening the bonds between the two powerful households. It was the kind of union that would benefit everyone involved.
But life has a way of throwing unexpected twists, and Mei Yuxian never imagined that her own relationship with Lin Yuan would evolve so suddenly—and so irreversibly.
Before her own d@ught£r even had the chance to grow closer to Lin Yuan, she, the m*th£r, had already become intimately involved with him. The young man she once regarded as a perfect match for her daughter had now become her l*ver—someone she had shared passion and secrets with, someone she could no longer simply view as a potential in-law.
The future s*n-in-l@w in her heart has become a l*ver.
It is not very suitable to say that he is now her husband or boyfriend.
Their relationship existed in a strange, ambiguous space—more than a secret affair, but still something that couldn't be defined in conventional terms.
The night they shared together had been intoxicating, filled with emotion and desire. Mei Yuxian hadn't allowed herself to think too deeply in those moments. She had simply surrendered to the feeling.
But now, after seeing Gui Qingtong's innocent and trusting eyes earlier today, she found herself unable to ignore the guilt rising in her chest. The reality of what she had done began to weigh heavily on her heart.
Despite her inner conflict, one truth had become crystal clear to her: she couldn't let go of Lin Yuan. Not now. Not ever.
She had fallen for him—deeply and completely.
But at the same time, she was not oblivious to her daughter's feelings. Gui Qingtong had always been fond of Lin Yuan. She had openly expressed her admiration for him. In fact, before Lin Yuan ever entered Mei Yuxian's life in a personal way, Qingtong had pleaded with her mother to help arrange a marriage between them.
Even though Qingtong was born through in vitro fertilization, she was still Mei Yuxian's flesh and blood. Their connection as mother and daughter was unshakable, and Mei Yuxian knew all too well just how much her daughter adored Lin Yuan.
What made everything more complicated was the fact that Lin Yuan had the ability to completely disarm and win over women. His charm was dangerous—almost terrifying in its effectiveness.
Mei Yuxian was deeply afraid that if Lin Yuan ever decided to pursue Qingtong, he would succeed effortlessly.
And that, she could not accept.
Not now—not with the bond they had already formed between them.
She turned to him, her expression troubled but sincere, and asked softly, "Xiao Yuan, can you promise me something? Please… don't do anything to Qingtong."
Lin Yuan's lips curled into a faint smile. "When did I ever show any improper thoughts toward Qingtong?"
"You know exactly what I mean," Mei Yuxian said, her tone growing serious.
Lin Yuan raised his hand gently, stopping her. "I understand what S¡st£r Yuxian is worried about. And you're right—Qingtong is a sweet girl. Very kind, very innocent. But to me, she's like a little sister. I've said it before and I'll say it again: compared to Qingtong, I'm far more interested in you."
As he spoke, his hand brushed along her waist, and he gave her a teasing glance, clearly trying to lighten the mood.
Mei Yuxian blushed, her face tinged with crimson, and she lowered her gaze. "Okay… then I can finally breathe a little easier."
Deep down, Mei Yuxian understood Lin Yuan's preferences well. He had a clear inclination toward mature women—confident, graceful, and alluring. That was why she felt secure, at least for the time being.
She had the kind of presence that Lin Yuan admired. Her body, her demeanor, her experience—these were the qualities that captivated him.
She believed that Lin Yuan simply wasn't attracted to someone like Gui Qingtong, who was still youthful and unformed.
But what Mei Yuxian didn't realize was that Lin Yuan's silence held layers she couldn't yet see.
Although he was truly fond of Mei Yuxian, that didn't mean he wasn't intrigued—if only slightly—by Qingtong as well. He was not the kind of man to deny his desires forever or bind himself with conventional morality.
He never thought of himself as a noble person. Lin Yuan lived according to his own code, a path shaped by personal ambition and unapologetic desires.
At this point, Gui Qingtong was still young—both physically and mentally—and he had no interest in someone who had yet to blossom.
However, he also knew about her physical condition—an illness from birth. Once it was cured and time passed, Lin Yuan believed that her growth and potential might very well match, if not surpass, her mother's beauty.
She had always been energetic, adorable, and full of life.
And though he didn't dwell on it at this moment, a thought lingered quietly in his mind.
When the time came… he would find a way to resolve everything.
His confidence in shaping the future was unwavering.
There was always a solution—as long as he wanted it enough.
When the time comes, Lin Yuan knows there will be conversations to be had—questions asked, answers expected. But until then, he chooses to act according to his own beliefs, his own rhythm.
There's no need to rush things. He has always played the long game.
And although he could never say these thoughts aloud—especially not to Mei Yuxian—he held them close.
He understood that Mei Yuxian still had many emotional constraints, layers of guilt, uncertainty, and a maternal instinct that made things complicated.
But Lin Yuan wasn't worried.
He had confidence that as long as her affection for him continued to grow, those emotional barriers would slowly dissolve.
He wasn't impatient. Time was on his side.
For now, there were things better left unsaid—questions that could wait, and full truths that didn't need to be voiced. He understood the value of silence in delicate situations.
