His words hit like a thunderclap soft, but shattering.
"You." One word. One syllable. Yet it split me open in ways I didn't know I could still feel.
I stared at him, my breath caught somewhere between my ribs and throat.
My heart pounded with the ache of longing, fear, and something even more dangerous hope. But I couldn't let it just go easily, he had put me through much before admitting this.
"You say that now," I whispered, my voice barely holding its shape.
"But where was that truth when you let her move into your mansion with just one word from her? Where was it when she walked around wearing your name like a badge?" tracing my steps slowly toward him I proceeded in pain.
"Where was it when you announced her to be your future Luna right in front of me not caring how broken I would be?"
Ian flinched not dramatically, but I saw it. He tightened his jaw with a flicker in his eyes.
