Alpha words kept echoing in my mind like a haunting song I couldn't turn off.
"As my mate and as the future Luna of the pack!"
They wrapped around me like ivy twisting, curling, sinking in while the rest of me remained frozen, stunned into silence so loud I could hear my heartbeat.
(What the hell is he doing?) Beena hissed in my head, the irritation sharp in her tone, but I couldn't form a single answer.
My lips parted, but no sound came. I stood there like a puppet without strings.
Gasps rippled through the crowd like falling dominoes.
"I don't understand!" Natty's shrill voice broke through the tense silence.
"Alpha… What do you mean she's your future Luna? Ny… Nyx is the one! She's your woman and your equal! This thing isn't even part of the active pack!"
The moment her words lashed the air, alpha Ian growled.
