Chapter 77 - Volume 2 Chapter 20: Machines and Traps

The fifth and sixth waves of machines quickly arrived in front of Godzilla.

This time, they were more evolved than the previous machines. Instead of running on flat ground, this group of robots moved through mountains and hills.

Unlike before, they no longer only dodged when Godzilla breathed. The machines were now constantly seeking cover. They no longer attacked Godzilla in plains and other areas but specifically chose mountainous and hilly terrain for ambushes!

The machines had learned more things.

However, solely relying on this wouldn't allow them to touch Godzilla.

A single powerful breath from Godzilla, swung from the front to the back, maximized its power to conventional levels.

Its attack pierced through the land, destroying the extensive mountain ranges and hills. Regardless of the cover in front of the machines, they couldn't survive this world-ending strike.

Using the metric of a million tons equivalent to measure the power per second, Godzilla's breath could directly flatten mountains.

This power difference compared to Godzilla's breath from before was like night and day. Even if they found cover beforehand, it was useless against this kind of super breath.

Fully powered Godzilla was an entity that artificial intelligence couldn't influence. Just charging forward like a group of fools, even if they found cover, they couldn't get close.

Godzilla was such an existence.

The seventh and eighth waves of attacks saw the machines become much more cunning.

These two waves of attacks returned to the basics. Instead of charging directly like fools, they ambushed behind forests and ridges.

Waiting for Godzilla to pass by them. Then suddenly launching an attack.

Unfortunately, it wasn't very effective.

Godzilla had sonar, though not as useful on land as it was in the sea. Still, detecting machines within a dozen kilometers around it was already sufficient.

It could discover the machines lying in ambush, and upon finding them, Godzilla changed its route, forcing the machines to come out again and face it head-on.

Facing them, Godzilla would simply unleash a high-powered breath, dealing with all of them along the way.

After discovering that the machines could evolve infinitely, Godzilla wasn't so kind as to give them the chance to evolve and adapt.

Now, when it saw machines, Godzilla just unleashed a high-powered breath, wiping them all out.

If it encountered a particularly large number of robots hiding in complex terrain, mountains, and forests, Godzilla would simply bypass them.

However, bypassing them generally didn't help. After Godzilla bypassed them, this group of machines would still catch up and pursue it.

They were truly troublesome fellows.

Regardless, they would catch up, and whether they would collect data to evolve again didn't matter to Godzilla.

These machines were like an upgraded version of humanity, perfectly inheriting the characteristics of their creators and even enhancing them.

Against these constantly attacking enemies, Godzilla had no good solution. It could only walk and destroy.

It had already made up its mind. If these guys continued to bother it, it would directly run at supersonic speed to the human capital, completely ignoring them.

Robots and such, it would deal with them only after wiping out all of humanity.

Remaining Engineering Robots in Australia: 92.09 million

Analysis Progress of Godzilla's Behavioral Logic: 37%

The machines' attitude towards Godzilla changed after the eleventh wave.

After Godzilla had destroyed eleven waves of robots, it finally reached the edge of the Australian Basin.

Ahead was an endless desert, and a bit further was the first super metropolis in the Australian inland.

Is it about to arrive?

Godzilla is very happy, as long as it destroys this metropolitan area and four other metropolitan areas in Western Australia, it can complete its mission of pushing across Australia.

There will be even fewer places for humans to survive.

But at the same time, it finds it strange because the group of machines hasn't attacked it again since it left the Great Dividing Range.

Did they think their previous attacks didn't work, so they gave up?

Godzilla doesn't think so.

They must be preparing for something else, planning to deceive and ambush it, this old comrade of theirs.

Sure enough, just as it was about to enter the desert, Godzilla "heard" something ahead.

It was the sound of many, many robots in operation.

It's the sound of a robot army with far more robots than any robot wave it encountered before, including humanoid, beast-like, vehicle-like, tank-like, transport-like... and so on.

They are the true main force of the machines on this continent, and it seems that the remaining machines in the eastern half of the continent have gathered here.

Have they realized that their previous attacks on me didn't work?

Godzilla thinks, otherwise, this group of machines wouldn't have gathered here.

It seems they have realized that Godzilla won't fall for their traps and that the waves of attacks were just a simple loss of manpower.

Well, it's time to put an end to this.

Godzilla moves towards the desert, and the tip of its tail emits a beam of light. The lasers on its dorsal fins activate as it heads in the direction of the robots, preparing to put an end to this.

One step, two steps.

A maximum power beam accumulates in its mouth, ready to completely destroy them.

50 kilometers, 45 kilometers, 40 kilometers.

Next...

Fire!

Like a divine punishment, its breath is shot towards the oncoming robot horde. In an instant, just as Godzilla is exhaling.

Within a dozen kilometers centered on it, countless flying drones activate their engines.

They rush towards Godzilla at the fastest speed, as if they want to attack during the time when Godzilla is attracting the attention of the robot army ahead!

The fastest drones reach speeds of up to 700 kilometers per hour, and they only need a little over a minute to reach Godzilla's front. They are incredibly fast!

But Godzilla's breath is even faster! Godzilla's full-power breath takes only a few seconds to deal with the robot wave in front of it, and then it turns around and sweeps the entire sky behind it.

The firestorm spread, and no machine could withstand such high temperatures. They were all burned, falling from the sky in a melted state, creating a meteor shower of fire.

Countless machines were thus eradicated by Godzilla. On flat ground, when it unleashed its full power, the number of machines was meaningless.

Moving forward, advancing towards its goal from the scorched earth that it had completely destroyed.

Twenty minutes later, when Godzilla's foot touched the blackened wasteland, something happened around it.
