The city was silent.
Victoria Metropolitan Area, the second-largest metropolitan area in Australia, was also the first metropolitan area to be rebuilt by the Australian local government after the nuclear war. This was because the nuclear war had severely impacted the three major metropolitan areas of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in the southeast, rendering them unable to be rebuilt in the post-war era due to excessive radiation and steep terrain.
With the southeast unable to be rebuilt, the reconstruction of the New Australia could only take place in the southwest and north, with Victoria and Perth at the center and emerging metropolitan areas such as Geraldton, Darwin, Albany, and Esperance as secondary hubs. A completely new Australia was established.
And now, Godzilla was about to destroy it all.
Within the Victoria Metropolitan Area, skyscrapers reaching hundreds of meters in height stood in an orderly and harmonious fashion, obscuring the brilliance of the sky. They looked like a range of mountains cast in steel or a sleeping giant, quietly resting.
The blue skylights at the tops of the buildings resembled blue crystals. On the empty streets, machines were operating in an organized manner. There was no sign of the tension that had existed before the great war.
The bustling skyscrapers formed two distinct worlds beneath the intertwining darkness and the twilight glow of the setting sun. One world was dark, profound, with something stirring within, like the darkest abyss.
The other world was bright, tranquil, with the sunset's radiance freezing time, like an eternal world suspended in time.
Light and darkness divided the city into two parts, perpetually interweaving, with a clear boundary between the two worlds.
Boom...
Boom...
Boom...
And at the next moment, the division between these two worlds was shattered.
Far, far away on the horizon, a tiny black dot appeared.
It was moving in this direction.
Every step it took shook the earth, every step shook the sky, and it was larger and more massive than anything on the ground. Its calm eyes gazed at the city.
Here it was.
Godzilla looked at the city, the Victoria Metropolitan Area, the easternmost metropolitan area of Australia. This was where its destruction began.
Behind the Victoria Metropolitan Area lay the living areas of the Australian people, with endless sprawling cities. There were cities after cities, even more densely populated than the far east.
As long as it broke through this city, the formal expulsion could begin.
It had broken through the layers of obstacles created by the machines, and had finally arrived here.
In the city ahead, there were tens of millions, even billions of machines. Godzilla's sonar could sense the sound of the machines operating in that city, louder than any machine waves it had encountered before. It was the strongest defensive barrier built by the machines.
With its previous power, Godzilla needed to get within 30 kilometers of the city to cause fatal damage to this city filled with countless skyscrapers.
The machines in the city began to act as soon as Godzilla arrived at the horizon on the other side of the city. In the dense forests, completely motionless machines suddenly started moving.
As long as it advanced a bit further and entered within 30 kilometers of the Victoria Metropolitan Area, the machines buried in the mountains and forests would suddenly appear. They would surround Godzilla just like before, climb onto its body, and force it to damage itself in order to cleanse them.
This was the machines' new strategy. In previous attacks, they had discovered that Godzilla couldn't detect their "false death" state. They had also figured out that Godzilla didn't want to destroy the forests.
So, the machines had hidden "false dead" machines in all the forests near the Victoria Metropolitan Area. They knew that Godzilla would definitely come to destroy Victoria, and that it would inevitably fall for their trap.
This was a brilliant plan by the machines! Their intelligence was now on par with the top human tacticians.
Godzilla knew this, and the machines knew this.
The city was still dozens of kilometers away, but Godzilla could see it. It stopped in its tracks, and its massive body blocked out the setting sun.
The reactor inside it was fusing.
Unprecedented energy was gathering.
Incomprehensible power was being born.
A brilliant light emanated from Godzilla's mouth.
A light brighter than the sun itself made the sunset turn pitch black. Meanwhile, in the distant Victoria Metropolitan Area, countless machines were awakened at this moment.
They rushed towards Godzilla from outside the city, but the speed of light was faster than them. In just a few seconds, the blinding, scorching light descended.
Tens of millions of robots gathered at the center of the Victoria Metropolitan Area, and they had no time to escape the city.
Naturally, when the silent flames spread, the machines were engulfed.
Silent death, quiet death, only pure light enveloped everything.
As mentioned earlier, the boundary between light and dark was broken. Then it was rebuilt, with the pure darkness turning into pure white under the brilliance of pure light!
And the pure white, under even more intense and bright light, turned into pure black!
Next, darkness expanded, light expanded! They filled every moment in the sky and on the earth, claiming their territories on every hill and every tree.
Silent evaporation of moisture began as soon as it touched the ground for the first second. The surface of the concrete started silently evaporating moisture.
The flames also burned silently. The formerly dark city became the world's largest source of light. And then...
Boom!
With a loud sound, pure light turned into a pure white screen.
Tens of millions, perhaps even billions, of robots that remained in all of Australia vanished in the white expanse. They might have wanted to escape, they might have prepared battle plans, but at this moment, all of that was futile.
The sound of trees igniting, buildings collapsing, and machines being destroyed echoed in the air.
Crash...
This was the sound of buildings collapsing.
Zzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzz...
This was the sound of machines being destroyed, their circuits completely shattered.
Boom, boom, boom
This was the sound of Godzilla moving away from the forest and towards the next city.
The decisive battle in Australia had come to an end.
Godzilla's power far exceeded imagination.
