Chapter 29 - Not Entirely Vampiric

The sky was clear, the sun high above, casting golden light over the endless stretch of green.

The trees swayed gently in the wind, their leaves rustling like whispers passing through the air. The distant chirping of birds and the occasional hum of insects were the only sounds breaking the silence.

The world felt peaceful—deceptively peaceful, considering the danger lurking just beyond the horizon.

We had been walking for more than three hours now.

Elara rode the horse beside Ronan, while I trailed behind them, my steps as light as air. I had barely made a sound the entire way, but Ronan still found reasons to be irritated with my existence.

Not that it was unexpected.

Elara had insisted I come with them. She hadn't just asked—she had physically pulled me along, grabbing my wrist and dragging me after her like some stubborn child who refused to leave his home.

I had let her.
