Chapter 133 - Chapter 133: Not Too Early or Too Late

Noah didn't really care about the outcome of the battle between Mordo and Kaecilius.

To him, they were both traitors, well, not exactly. Mordo hadn't betrayed anyone while the Ancient One was still alive. Maybe he didn't have the time, or maybe it was something else, but at least Mordo still held onto his principles for a while. That made him... slightly better.

Kaecilius, though?

Sure, his backstory was tragic. But in Noah's eyes, repaying kindness with betrayal was downright revolting. A person like that? Definitely not someone he could sympathize with.

Even if Kaecilius had a firm belief, it clearly wasn't rooted in anything good.

Still, if he could survive long enough until the final battle, maybe he'd have a chance to travel back through time using quantum tech.

Well... if the Ancient One kept researching and developing quantum theory, she might even enter the Quantum Realm herself and do something game-changing.

"Forget it," Noah mumbled. "Why overthink it? They're both ticking time bombs anyway. If they ever act out, I'll just deal with it."

He wasn't about to stress over the possibilities. He already knew what might happen, he'd be a complete idiot not to prepare.

And Noah was no idiot. He'd definitely be keeping tabs on them.

Still, their transformation wouldn't happen for nearly two decades.

By then, if Noah kept advancing at his current pace, he might be able to flick those two away with a wave of his hand.

Although Noah hadn't spent much time with the Ancient One, he deeply respected her character, and especially her wisdom and power.

She could be a bit rigid, sure. But given time, Noah was confident he could get her to accept ideas she once dismissed.

"Knowledge and power are always evolving," Noah mused. "A sorcerer who refuses to change is no sorcerer at all."

With that thought, he finally wrapped up his two-month hellish training in Kamar-Taj just in time for Christmas in London.

Honestly, Noah didn't feel like he'd had a decent night's sleep in those two months. What was even worse? As soon as he got back, he'd have to return to Hogwarts, and sleep was a rare luxury there too.

He really wanted to cry, but tears wouldn't come.

Still, he had nothing to complain about. His path to mastering magic lay in his dreams, both literally and figuratively.

"Back to school, back to studying," he sighed. "Then it's another round of Kamar-Taj next year."

As he scratched his head, something suddenly clicked in his mind, something he might have overlooked from the future.

Doing the math... it was 1993 now. He'd finish his third year in 1994.

Then 1995...

Someone comes back in 1995, doesn't she?

Noah narrowed his eyes, dragging his chin thoughtfully, and then,

"Crap! It's her! How the hell did I forget her!?"

He slammed his fist into his palm, finally remembering who he had missed all this time.

Captain Marvel.

The newest superhero to make an appearance, yet ironically, one of the earliest, active as far back as 1989.

But Noah had been just a kid then, overwhelmed by anxiety about his future. He didn't give a damn about cosmic heroines.

Then came Hogwarts, and life turned upside down.

Now, after two months of magical torture at Kamar-Taj, his brain had finally cleared enough to remember her, the powerhouse who could go toe-to-toe with Thanos!

Noah's mind whirled with possibilities. The timeline lined up. Her story would unfold in two years.

Should he... go and watch?

"I'll have finished third year by then. I'll be back at Kamar-Taj, with another full year of training under my belt. Surely I can take a leave and sneak in to watch history being made?"

Witnessing the origin of Captain Marvel?

That sounded incredibly fun.

Plus, Noah really wanted to see a young and goofy Nick Fury.

The future Nick Fury might be all stern and commanding, with that poker face and annoying "by-the-book" attitude.

But back in the day? He still had hair, and his personality was way less serious. And Phil Coulson probably hadn't even joined S.H.I.E.L.D. yet.

"In two years, I should be at least Level 5 in magic... maybe higher," Noah thought. "I could probably handle a few Kree warriors or Skrulls."

He wasn't entirely sure, but did it really matter?

Captain Marvel would be there. He'd just be observing.

Also... he really wanted to see that cat, no, the Flerken, Goose.

And if he could catch that moment when Fury gets scratched in the eye and later claims he lost it "because he trusted someone"... well, imagine recording that scene and showing it to the world!

That would be hilarious.

With that thought in mind, Noah rested peacefully for a night at the orphanage, then headed to Diagon Alley with Ms. Haifin to buy the supplies for the school year.

They were a bit late in the day, so there weren't many people shopping anymore.

Which was great, fewer crowds meant fewer headaches.

It didn't take long for Noah to gather all the books he needed. But one title made Ms. Haifin raise her eyebrows.

"Are you sure about this book? The Monster Book of Monsters? Won't it cause trouble?"

"What's the problem?" Noah replied with a smirk. "It bites people?"

"Exactly! Why do you need something like that?"

"Oh, it's easy to deal with. Just stroke its spine gently, it'll calm right down. And besides, do you think I have no other ways of dealing with a book? The real question is, why do they want us to read this in the Care of Magical Creatures class?"

He shrugged. As a student, Noah wasn't going to make a fuss.

As long as the teacher wasn't a fraud like Gilderoy Lockhart, he'd play along.

This year's Magical Creatures instructor was Rubeus Hagrid, a man Noah had helped clear of wrongdoing the year before.

And speaking of magical creatures, Noah often thought of the freckled, animal-loving Newt Scamander. Honestly, his adventures were way more interesting than Harry's.

"Huh... what if I'd been reborn in that era? Could I have met Captain America?"

That stray thought gave him a chill.

Sure, it'd be fun, so many legends in that timeline. But it was also full of monsters. Grindelwald was no joke.

And then there were mutants... and most of them were absolute beasts.

If Noah wasn't careful, he'd be wiped out before even making a name for himself.

And worst of all, he had no idea whether the Ancient One would even accept him during that chaotic time.

Sure, the extra time would let him build a massive influence.

But it would also steal the joy out of watching how things unfolded later.

"It's like someone transmigrating into the Naruto world," he mused. "If you go back to Hashirama's era and live forever, why would you even care about Naruto and the others later? But if you're in Naruto's generation... it's still a game worth playing."

While Noah was lost in thought, Ms. Haifin was efficiently organizing his things.

She didn't bother with manual packing. With a wave of her wand, the books flew into Noah's suitcase, arranging themselves neatly.

Ms. Haifin felt emotional as she watched it happen.

Just six months ago, she was an ordinary woman, pressuring Noah to teach her magic.

Now? Two months after Noah returned from Kamar-Taj, she could already perform basic spells!

Magic was addictive. Once you started, it was hard to stop.

And knowing that Noah's teacher, the same woman who helped teach her, was over 500 years old and still looked youthful? That only intensified her obsession.

Every woman wants to stay beautiful.

Even though she'd just started learning, Ms. Haifin could already feel the changes in herself.

"But I'm still at such a low Order..."

She was lucky, though. She'd gotten one of the first wave of magic-level pendants created by Kamar-Taj. It even had a neat levitating-ring effect!

She was currently Order 0 Rank 2.

Not great. Especially when she learned that Rank 10 was required just to be considered Level 1.

Noah? He was already at Order 4.

A 20x gap between them, at least in raw numbers. But the difference in actual power? That was an even bigger canyon.

"Well, I've got to work harder," she thought firmly. "The money Constantine sends each month is enough to support the orphanage... but I can't just take it for granted."

"I'll become strong enough to fight alongside them one day. I won't just rely on others, I'll earn my place."
