Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: Shouldn't You Ask Him About This?

Hogwarts remained lively as ever. To welcome the incoming students for the new school year, Professor Flitwick had gone out of his way to organize a grand musical concert. The performance was vibrant, magical, and full of youthful energy.

Watching the surprised and excited expressions on the first-years' faces, Noah couldn't help but smile, it reminded him of his own first time here. Unknowingly, he had become a seasoned veteran.

The profession of a magician truly was magical in every sense.

Nearly three years had passed since Noah began learning magic, and it felt like time had flown by. With his life so fulfilling and busy, the days blurred together, leaving behind a sense of rapid progression.

After the concert, it was time for Professor Dumbledore's opening address.

Noah blinked in surprise. Was it his imagination, or did Dumbledore look… younger?

It puzzled him. Had they changed the actor playing Dumbledore?

No, that didn't make sense.

Then it hit him, could it be that Dumbledore had advanced a rank in magic?

It wasn't that far-fetched. Though they mostly discussed elemental magic during the last semester, Dumbledore had shown a keen interest in Noah's advanced magical theories. Elemental magic, after all, was no ordinary branch of study.

"Could he have become a Sixth-Order Magician?" Noah muttered thoughtfully. But soon, he lost interest in pondering it further.

What mattered more was the magic classification system now being implemented in Hogwarts, the first experimental point for the system.

Back when Noah was still training at Kamar-Taj, the Ancient One had already contacted Dumbledore. And truth be told, the knowledge that Noah's system provided about magical classification was astonishing.

Even the Ancient One approved of the system. The classification itself was divided into Three Ranks and One Stage, a model that could categorize all magicians, including those far beyond ordinary comprehension.

Noah once asked the Ancient One how he could possibly know details about those higher-level existences. He casually claimed he'd read it from some old books.

The Ancient One's expression at the time had been rather peculiar. But she didn't question him further.

According to this classification:

Order 0 Rank 1 to 10 were considered Magic Apprentices, not true magicians yet. Students in their first year at Hogwarts fell under this category, still learning the basics.

Next came Official Magicians, split into three tiers:

Beginner Magicians: Order 1–3, typically recent graduates from magical academies. Most talented Hogwarts students graduate around Levels 2–3.

Intermediate Magicians: Order 4–6. But here lies a major hurdle. Graduates at this stage might get lucky and join magic organizations where they can learn more advanced disciplines, such as elemental magic.

If they don't? They end up stuck, living their lives as "Academic Magicians", knowledgeable but without access to high-tier spells. Most of the magical world falls under this group. Even someone like Dumbledore had been classified here in the past.

The magical community, isolated as it was, often resembled a stagnant pond. Achievements were hoarded rather than shared, dying with their creators.

Above them were the Advanced Magicians: order 7–9.

At this tier, their magical capabilities reached astonishing heights. Whether it was standard Hogwarts curriculum, elemental magic, or even something greater, the power they wielded was overwhelming.

From Seventh Order onward, magicians could start traveling through space without the need for artifacts like Sling Rings.

By the Eighth Order, they fully discarded such tools and gained even greater range.

The Ninth Order allowed interstellar travel.

The Tenth Order, now that was a true turning point.

This level was known as Transformation, where the user's very life form underwent change. At this stage, magic ceased to be a separate category, it was simply a form of power. The very distinction between arcane, divine, or elemental ceased to matter.

The Ancient One had already reached this point. She could enter the multiverse freely, her essence no longer bound by conventional rules.

As for why she chose to die? Noah speculated it was a matter of evolution. Her soul transcended physical limitation. With the Time Stone, she could see future outcomes, and perhaps she saw cultivating Doctor Strange as necessary.

Dormammu's influence, while negligible to her, was still something to be removed. Even as a soul, she remained powerful beyond imagination.

When she explained her abilities to Noah, she kept it vague, offering only the basics of her divine transformation. Yet Noah, thanks to his system, knew far more.

Because beyond the Tenth Order, began the realm of gods.

Orders Eleven through Thirteen belonged to beings capable of traversing the quantum realm using their own power, entering any timeline or universe.

However, this carried dangers. Entering the wrong timeline or creating parallel branches, like Ant-Man did in Avengers: Endgame with Pym particles, was possible.

At Eleventh Order, mistakes were common and energy expenditure massive.

At Twelfth Order, they could choose the correct timeline more easily.

At Thirteenth Order, they could freely shift timelines without risk.

From Fourteenth Order, they became completely independent of time and space. Even if entire timelines were erased, their own world would remain unaffected.

Then came the Fifteenth Order.

According to the system, anyone who reached this level was no longer bound by dimensions, powers, or even existence itself. They became self-eternal.

Noah almost laughed aloud at that. What was this? A protagonist from a power fantasy novel?

"Transcendence, huh? Sounds way too far off…"

He scratched his head and chuckled. "I'm just a Fourth-Order Magician. Fourteenth Order? That's ten full stages away! I might never reach that in this lifetime."

By now, Dumbledore had finished his speech.

Noah felt a bit guilty, he hadn't heard a single word. Glancing at the blank stares of the students around him, he could roughly guess what was said.

"Let me guess: Snape's done teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, Lupin's taking over, Hagrid's now the professor for Care of Magical Creatures, Sirius has escaped Azkaban, Dementors are being stationed here by the Ministry, and, oh right, the wizard classification system's being implemented."

---

Later, in the Headmaster's office, Dumbledore returned after the ceremony.

To his surprise, he wasn't alone.

Waiting for him were Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, and Lucius Malfoy, father of Draco and an influential figure on the Hogwarts Board of Governors.

Before Dumbledore could speak, Fudge exploded.

"Why didn't you inform us about this?!"

"Inform you about what?" Dumbledore replied calmly, though he had a pretty good guess.

"The wizard classification system! This absurd magician ranking nonsense!"

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he replied, "It's the trend of the times, Cornelius."

"Trend of the times? You could've rejected it!"

"But why should I? This system benefits our students and professors. And more importantly, I can't refuse a request from Kamar-Taj."

"Don't forget where you are! This is Britain! You're under the British Ministry of Magic!"

"Indeed. And I am the Headmaster of Hogwarts, a wizard, not a politician."

Dumbledore's aura flared.

In an instant, overwhelming magical pressure flooded the office. Though contained within the room, the sheer force made both Fudge and Lucius Malfoy break into cold sweat. They could barely breathe.

Then, just as quickly, the pressure vanished.

It was like nothing had happened, except for the cold sweat dripping down their backs.

"Are you challenging the Ministry?" Fudge asked, visibly shaken. "Hogwarts has twelve governors, don't forget that!"

"Yes, but also remember: the British Ministry of Magic is only a regional branch of the magical world. I don't want conflict, but I especially don't want to go against Kamar-Taj."

Dumbledore sighed. Even he felt his reaction had been a little… forceful.

Lucius stepped forward, easing the tension. "We're not here to place blame. We just hope, Headmaster, that next time you'll inform us beforehand."

"Of course," Dumbledore nodded. "You have my word."

"Now… let's talk about the Dementors."

"Dementors? What about them?"

Fudge growled. "Don't play dumb! The Dementors are rebelling! Your student, Noah Finniel, slaughtered dozens of them with one spell! You tell me what happened!"

Dumbledore blinked, then smiled.

"…Shouldn't you ask him about this?"
