Chapter 107 - Surveying The Land

Yawn...

Stretching his hands, Simon woke up, scratching his back lazily. Seeing the sun shining through the window, he attempted to reach for the curtains, only to grasp nothing. Oh right...forgot we're not in Earasmus anymore...

Stretching once more, he got up from his bed, going down a flight of (very) misshapen stairs. Despite nearly breaking his ankles many times, he safely delivered himself downstairs.

"DUNCAN! Couldn't you at least make the stairs as even as possible?! I nearly broke my back multiple times coming down! One misstep and my dream of going to the Moon would've been over!"

Glaring at the sleepy Elf, he turned towards the rest of the gang, who all knelt in their breakfast bowls. Even Goblina was busy, feeding a young girl–

Wait, a young beastman!?

Rubbing his eyes once more to make sure he wasn't hallucinating, he turned towards Lewis. "How on Earadun did we get a young Wulfin here!?"

Examining the situation, he began panicking. If the Adventurer's Guild found out they had kidnapped a young Wulfin, they'd be arrested at most, hanged at worst.

"Quick! Release her back into the wild! If they catch u–"

"Nah, don't worry. She's the one who'll be in trouble..."

Lewis patiently explained the circumstances of her capture. Hearing that she was caught because of stealing their food, he let out a sigh of relief. "She alright?"

Twisting his fork, Lewis replied nonchalantly, "Yep, checked her out this morning...", as he remembered her Status:

Poor girl...

Ruffling her silver hair, Lewis sympathised with little Kiana. She must've suffered so much just to get here...

Before he could continue ruffling her hair, Kiana quickly ducked, wary of the unknown Human. No one can touch my hair except big sis Celine...

Though slightly hurt, Lewis quickly snapped out of it once Titus announced that they had an important job today. "Duncan, Lewis, Simon, come and follow me. Today, we'll be visiting the fields and checking out our surroundings. Best to go now, otherwise it'll be too late..."

Walking down the slightly mushy land, Lewis collected samples of dirt that Titus dug up. Trailing behind him was Simon, as Duncan had other business to attend to. As they walked down the field, Titus commented on the girl's name. "Thank goodness her name's Kiana Wolbon. If it was Kaslana, we'd be DMCA'd out of existence..."

"Wut?"

Titus quickly shrugged it off. "Nothing. Just an inside joke from where I used to work before..."

Curiousity increasing, Lewis asked him why he cared about her name. This finally made Titus stop in his tracks. "No reason really. It's just that...this name came up quite frequently from where I used to work about a girl who lived in a broken world. Her happy-go-lucky attitude made her a fan favourite, as well as her being a foodie and a half. But it was her immense guilt she felt after the death of her loved ones that she became quiet, taciturn, a burning sense of revenge blazing within her..."

Realisation dawned upon Lewis. "Just like that little Wulfin..."

Sighing, Titus affirmed his answer. "Mmm. Just like Kia– What the fuck did I sense!"

Rushing to the forefront, he scrambled through the grass, before digging up a patch of dirt, a faint green hue emanating from within...
