Chapter 45 - Starting a relationship

When I got to the place I was going, a restaurant, the guy that walked up to me was not bad really.

He was full of smiles that caught my attention.

He told me his name is Drax, and I told him my name is Swiss. Then, the discussion started. He asked if I lived around, and my answer was "Yes, I do".

The guy was new in town. He wanted to make friends and get rid of boredom, but me, I was looking for a boyfriend.

I asked him if he was single, and he replied no. Damn, that was bad. I was hoping he would at least lie, and I informed him that I was too.

Then, he started talking about a girl. He said the girl was like me physically, and we had almost the same face.

Drax would not stop speaking so high of the girl until I stopped him.

"Can we just discuss something else?" I asked.

He begged me not to mind his manner.

He continued again. He said the girl was the love of his life, but then. When I heard "then", I stopped being nervous.

I was sure I had a chance to start a boyfriend, girlfriend stuff with him.

He paused for a while, and in my mind, I was looking for a conversation that I would start.

I was about to ask him where he attended college when I saw tears rolling down his cheek.

I later learned his last relationship was bad, and he was scared to start another one.

So I talked him into starting a boyfriend-girlfriend stuff.

We discussed more while we ate and drank.

Actually, this was my first relationship, and I started it on the wrong foot. I mean, I built it on a lie, because everything I said to Drax was almost a lie.

I lied that I was jobless, and I had just applied for work as a waitress.

My true identity was never revealed to him when he asked me about my family. I told him my mom died when I was a toddler, and I am living with my guardian. I never mention anything about being adopted.

The guy was older than me, and he was eager to get married to me right from the start, but I talked him to being patient, because we needed to know each other more.

I took the last bite of the pie that was in my hand, and he told me to clean my cheek off the stain of the pie. I cleaned, and about three seconds later, he asked me to clean the stain again because the stain was still there.

Damn, I felt embarrassed about that, but I kept my calm. Mother always does that to me at home, and mother always gets furious that I lacked table manners.

Now I understand mother's nagging. She was always baffled that I would embarrass myself one day because I lacked table manners, and she was always baffled that I would implicate her that she was the one that doesn't train me well.

All those thoughts filled my mind as I regretfully, and cautiously lifted my hand to clean the spot Drax pointed to.

One thing I was lucky for was that it was the last bite of the pie, so I will no longer have any stain on my cheek or lips.

After I cleaned the spot, I had a meeting with my mind that I hope we did it this time, properly cleaned it. And I was saying to myself, "you won't ever say that to me, ever".

Just when I finished the meeting with my mind, I heard Drax say again, "I told you to clean this, do you want to embarrass me?"

I was angry immediately, and I raised my hand to clean it again. This time, I was going to wipe my whole face with the handkerchief to make sure I cleaned it.

He told me not to bother myself and that he would clean it for me. He was coming to me to clean it, and I felt very childish.

When he got to me, I was hoping he would clean the meat pie remains off my cheek or lips, but instead his lips were locked on mine, giving me a kiss.

Ace's point of view.

I made sure that the hand he was going to hit me with wouldn't be useful to him for at least a week.

Amidst the crowd, a man shouted, "Oh! She's not just pretty hot, she can bring down a giant too".

The friend of the large man went to him to help him up. He pushed him away angrily and disappointed.

He staggered and lifted himself up and left shamefully.

So, I put the arm of my new friend on my shoulder and assisted him. We got outside and the large man was the one that owned the bike which I spoiled when I arrived and parked.

If not for him being badly injured because we had a fight, he would have damaged my own car in retaliation.

At that very moment that we got outside, it was the exact time he was handing the baseball baton in his weak hand to his friend, so his friend could help him damage my car.

The moment he and his friend realized I owned the car, they stopped their attempt to retaliate, and completely vanished from the spot.

I felt sorry for him anyway. I had already spoiled his bike outside on my arrival, and when I got inside, I caused more damage to him.

The damage to him wasn't my fault though. He should be mature enough to know how to approach a woman instead of bullying.

Just because I felt sorry for him, I went to where I parked my car and took some money.

I handed the money to him and said, "Fix yourself and your bike with this".

He was afraid to collect the money from me. I pretended like I had gotten mad, and would hit him again.

"Mercy" he said, and he collected the money afterward.
