Since earlier, Alger's mind had been completely unsettled. Throughout the meeting, he couldn't focus at all—his thoughts were consumed by Lily: her emotions, her anger, and all her tears. Everything echoed relentlessly in his head.
Waiting for the meeting to end felt like the clock was ticking painfully slow. Alger glanced at his wristwatch several times, visibly anxious. Occasionally, he tried to pay attention to his staff who were presenting their team's results.
"If you can't focus, maybe you should postpone the meeting," James whispered beside him. "You've been distracted since the beginning, sir."
"Hmm," Alger responded shortly, eyes still fixed on his laptop screen.
"That's all from me. If Mr. Alger or anyone else from the team has any questions, please feel free to ask," the employee who just finished presenting said.
Alger immediately stood up, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
