Rus was caught off guard for a moment as he met those sapphire-blue eyes. "What's the condition?" he asked.
"You have to learn Elvish within six months," Lux replied, her eyes glinting with playful pride.
"Alright. Deal." Rus nodded without hesitation.
"Eh?" Lux blinked, startled. "But Elvish is really hard to learn. Don't you want to at least—"
"No need," Rus cut her off firmly.
Lux huffed and turned her gaze away.
The elves had a far longer history than humans. Their civilization was established long before any human kingdom and was widely recognized as the cradle of all culture on the continent of Midrals. Because of that, Elvish had been the first language adopted by humans in ancient times.
But as human nations grew and developed their own languages, Elvish gradually faded from common use. Now, only nobles, scholars, and a few clergy retained fluency in it.
