Eggy was devastated today.

Ever since he returned yesterday from attending Uncle Tiesheng's son's one-month celebration with his mom, his parents had been discussing sending him to school.

Eggy did not want to leave his mommy. No matter how much he cried or rolled around on the ground, the decision was final: he was going to preschool.

What made it even worse was that his big brother had graduated elementary school and was going to start living on campus, which meant they wouldn't get to play together as often anymore.

Eggy felt like his whole dragon life had lost its color.

He wiped the golden teardrops from his cheeks, struggled to his feet, and decided—

He was going to pack up and run away from home.

So, in the dead of night, Eggy snuck out of the palace with a tiny bundle strapped to his back. But before he could even make it past the threshold, a hand lifted him by the collar.

"Little brother, where are you going?" Bai Baobao's sleepy voice asked. He had woken up to the sound of movement and followed instinctively.

Eggy burst into tears and threw himself into his brother's arms. "I don't want to go to school—I want to stay and play with you!"

Bai Baobao, now a mature older brother, patted his little sibling's head.

"I'll still have weekends off, and summer and winter breaks too. If you run away, won't that make Mommy sad?"

Eggy hesitated the moment he imagined Mommy looking sad.

"But… but if I go to school, I won't see Mommy anymore…"

Bai Baobao took Eggy's hand.

"Your preschool is right outside the palace. You'll see her every day."

Eggy blinked, let out a big yawn, and half-collapsed into his brother's arms.

"Oh… then I won't leave. But you have to promise to come back every weekend."

Bai Baobao led him back to bed.

"Okay. Every weekend, I'll come to see you and Mommy… and Daddy."

Eggy let out a tiny huff:

"Not Daddy! He's a bad guy. He's the one who made Mommy send me to school! Bad Daddy!"

Bai Baobao frowned in thought.

"But Daddy's strong. When I was little, he raised me. Even though he's a little… forgetful, he used to play with me a lot. He's a good Daddy."

Eggy's tiny voice wavered.

"If you like Daddy, then I guess… he's a good Daddy…"

———

Up on the eaves, a certain Demon King was watching with a stormy face.

Yin Jixue, delighting in his misfortune, gently consoled him.

"Don't be mad. You're the one getting wronged this time, but Eggy will understand when he grows up."

Lou Zhao was practically fuming. He'd just taken the blame for something his wife had suggested. The kid was now calling him a "bad daddy," when he'd even tried to argue against sending him to school.

Yin Jixue had insisted on enrolling Eggy in preschool, saying education should start young.

Lou Zhao, meanwhile, had believed he could teach their son himself—skip all that nonsense with a bunch of bratty kids and go straight to university-level education later.

But Yin Jixue was firm: kids needed friends and a proper childhood.

So now he, the father who tried to help, was getting framed as the villain.

Feeling wronged, Lou Zhao muttered, "Running away from home at his age… can't imagine what kind of chaos he'll cause when he's older."

Yin Jixue wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.

"Be good, don't be mad. Next time I'll be the strict parent, okay?"

Lou Zhao narrowed his eyes.

"Put it in writing."

He was always made to play the bad guy. And whenever he tried to discipline their son, he didn't even get to hold his wife at night. Meanwhile, when she scolded the kid? No consequences at all.

Yin Jixue coiled her arms around his neck and turned on the charm.

"Oh, my handsome, brave, invincible, dashing, super-sexy Demon King hubby~ Don't be mad, alright?"

Lou Zhao's eyes gleamed mischievously.

"Fine. I'll stop being mad—on one condition. For this whole month, you have to listen to me. No objections. Let me experience what it's like to be the real head of the house."

Yin Jixue hesitated for a few seconds, then agreed.

"Deal! I'm sure I won't need to scold our son again this month anyway. I'm still his dear, loving mommy!"

———

That very night, Yin Jixue paid the price for her rash promise.

Let's just say… it was time to visit the apothecary and stock up on energy tonics.

She felt like half her soul—and one of her kidneys—was missing.

Well, if the "head of the household" won't let her get out of bed, then she could always use the Demon King as an excuse!
